Hotel Disapointment
from mel_bNorthampton
Well to start off with a nightmare, we booked a weeks holiday in ayia napa including transfers. when we got to the air port the coach was not there, we had to pay £70 taxi to nestor and back to the airport at the end of the week. When we arrived at Nestor Hotel we went to book it where they told us our room was not ready????? they sent us to Napa Plaza for 2 days and then we had to move back to Nestor 2days later, they put us up to half board not explaining what this ment and charged us for Drinks. Meals were the same everyday Pasta with a different sauce and a bit of salad. Apart from all the moving around i could not enjoy the hotel as being messed around is not what you want on holiday. The clubs made my holiday its ashame about the hotel. Will not be returning to this one.
loved every minute

We had a lovely time at the nestor, which was good for us as we should of stayed at the napa mermaid but this hotel was still undergoing a refurbishment. The weather was perfect, the food was a little boring and lhe restuarant lacked atmoshpere so we did eat out 3 times in the evening. The staff were warm and friendly. We preferred the location of the nestor as everything was within walking distance including beach, restaurants and nightlife. The nightlife was great and we tried a couple of clubs even though we are in our 40's. We are going back at the end of august this time we have booked out own flights and booked the hotel direct. Hotel good but food discusting

Just arrived back from a week stay at the Nestor, following the Hotel we had booked was still undergoing renovation. On arrival the hotel looked clean and tidy, at reception there was some confusion over our room, we had booked, and paid for, a full sea view, as this was what we had requested at the original hotel and was part of our holiday criteria. However, the hotel did not seem to be aware of this request and I had to produce my invoice as proof. After about 20 minutes, and a lot of discussion between the reception staff the problem was partly ressolved, and I had to settle for a side sea view. The room was very clean, although the air con was not very effective, which I reported, but no action was taken, and a fridge, and safe were available to rent keys for. I thought I would do this straight away so as we could unpack and place all our valuables in the safe for peace of mind, and went down to reception to pay for the rent, only to be told "Come back tomorrow we are too busy to deal with that now" after a brief but possitive conversation, I managed to put my point accross and they dealt with the matter, but I have to say without a smile. We went down to dinner, and was very disappointed, the presentation was poor, with the salad looking past it's best with wilting lettuce leaves, and curled up cucmber, so we moved onto the hot dishes, which again seemed to lack any presentation skills, and with a selection of frozen, not fresh vegetables reminded us very much of school dinners, although my memory of so many years ago was a bit faded. This continued throught the whole week, and although they advertised a different theme each night, ie Italian night, French night, etc, it all seemed to be the same. We ended up eating out 4 nights out of the 7, adding additional cost to our holiday. So please don't go the Nestor expecting good food it is simply not there to be had. The rest of the hotel was fine in terms of facilities and cleanliness, and most of the staff were very friendly, and helpful, although the evening entertainment was not worth staying in for. To sum up, 1 star food in a 3 star Hotel.
lovely hotel

we just got back fron the nestor hotel, was there for two weeks a holiday and honeymoon in one. We had a family room, which was big enough for the 4 of us. They were cleaned every day, the hotel in whole was very clean. The entertainment in the hotel was ok some days not that we stayed in much. The kids loved the pool, the food was great. The location was handy for the beach, harbour and nightlife. All only a few minutes walk away from all 3. The staff were really friendly couldn't do enough for us. The honeymoon suit is lovely also. Enjoy your stay if staying here.

we stayed here last september & loved it & thought we'd try it again. staff are lovely & hard working, rooms kept clean and aired. we were on b& b, which was very successful & I heard nothing but praise for those who were all inclusive. great pool, plenty loungers although i did notice that this time lots of people reserving them & going off for the morning!! great pub next door (the crown) well run & very entertaining
nice hotel
from matakan
nice hotel at nice town. Hotel is very good, rooms are nice n comfortable, air conditioning system is sucessfull, services are very good. Hotel has a nice swimming pool. Location is closer to the marina and beach but that beach which is next of the marina is not good. The best beach of ayia napa is nissi beach and location of hotel is far away from that beach. By the way hotel is 10min far away from bar steert of the town by walking. Hotel is at the centeral area of town restaurants, shopping areas and clubs are very closer to the hotel. For ayia napa u must vist water park, nissi beach, luna park, bars street and cape greeko....
What's not to enjoy???

Stayed at the Nestor Hotel beginning of August this year, whats not to like about it, the hotel itself is spotless, reception area lovely and airy, although the staff on reception are not over friendly, they are very efficient. We only stayed B & B so cannot comment on the evening meals, although the breakfasts were great, anything from fruit, cereal to a full English if you wanted!!! My daughter ate most days at the pool bar and had no complaints what so ever (apart from the amount of weight she put on!!) The pool area is lovely and no shortage of sunbeds. They have staff entertaining the children most of the day, playing darts, water polo etc etc... George is great with the kids and anyone who wins a game of darts etc always gets a prize (free drink, slush) Our room was very spacious and cleaned daily. It is a great base to explore Cyprus from and the nightlife is 10 mins leisurely stroll away (5 mins if in a rush!!!!) There is no shortage of great restaurants and I can recommend SAGE if you want something special. Enjoy!!! We did.
Good quality 3+* Hotel
from Amospring
Well, from the outset, I may as well tell you all this is going to be another positive review for the Nestor Hotel. My wife and I enjoyed a two week break in the Nestor hotel for the first two weeks of August 2006. She is 28 and I am 31 years old. We have stayed at various 3 and 4 * properties and this is a fine example of a good 3+* hotel. The front grounds are kept clean and the main lobby has a marble floor and is well air conditioned. To your left as you enter is the main bar of the hotel where the in house entertainment takes place and to the right is the reception desk, lifts to the rooms and beyond the main restaurant of the hotel. The lobby is again kept tidy and clean and does have a quality feel - like a 4* hotel in Europe. The ladies at the reception desk were always polite and smiling and always helped with information or other queries. We met the manager too who was pleasant enough but like I have read in other reviews, doesn't himself really get involved with the guests at the hotel. EG, we booked with Thomson and asked for a sea facing room and paid extra for this. We ended up with a room with a side view of the sea. We immediately went down to reception. There were no problems. The receptionist checked the booking and told us she would have a sea view room ready for us the next day and asked us to come down at 9.00am. We did that and then were given the keys to room 407 which in my opinion is one of the very best rooms in the hotel. A tip for you all is to go for one of these rooms if possible - 403, 405 and 407. They are on the top floor, face the pool, sea and in the distance you can also see the nightlife and harbour. Its lovely at night as you get to see the sailing boats with all their lights on sailing past. We found the rooms to be spacious - more than enough room for a couple. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom big enough. We had a bath and shower and these were cleaned pretty much daily. The cleaners are very friendly and they have no problem providing you with extra loo roll, towels, soap etc if you ever do run out. The rooms also have a minibar. Just pay the receptionist for the use of it and around the corner literally and next door to the hotel are two supermarkets from where you can buy cheap water and other snacks etc. The tv only had a few English speaking channels including channel 5, sky sports and sky news. A tip is to call the electrician who will come and tune the telly to other English speaking channels for you. He managed to find a wildlife channel, discovery channel and another one showing golden oldies such as the A Team! Not bad. The balconys are enough for two people to be sitting on them and enjoying a good old drink. The sea facing rooms are good as you'll get sun all day and a nice sunset. The hotel is close enough to the sea to see the moonlight reflecting on the waves - but I'd imagine this view wouldn't be possible from the lower floors. The fourth floor is the top floor. The location of the hotel is excellent! Its a 5 minute walk to a superb beach and the harbour. Its round the corner from loads of restaurants, bars and about a 5-10 minute walk to the main square. Its also on a side road to the main road where all the restaurants are situated so its quiet too. For those that are interested, its only a ten minute drive to the lovely resort of Protaras. The main beach near the hotel is called Limanaki beach. This is a large beach with plenty sunbeds. The beach is very clean with light brown sand and clear sea. There is no rubbish on the beach. There are plenty of good quality snack/food shops and restaurants near by for drinks and food. A good tip is to not take the first sunbeds you see but walk down along the beach and you'll find sunbeds with tables to put your drinks on!! Wicked! There are also hooks to hang your bags under the umbrella. Expect to pay about 3 euro's for the hire of a sunbed and a couple more for the umbrella - but believe me, once settled, your in heaven. As you walk down you'll meet some nice people who are daily selling boat excursions. They are pleasant and don't push you to buy buy buy like in some other resorts we've been too. The trip on the boat takes you around part of the island, allow a few dips in the warm blue sea, and also show you the Ghost Town known as Famagusta. We sailed with Captain Marco and the lunch was great including a live spit roast with vegetables. You pay for you own beer etc on the boat and you cannot take your own drinks on board. Other beaches well worth visiting are Nissi beach and Fig Tree Bay. Nissi beach is a 5 minute drive in the taxi. The hotel was very efficient in calling the taxi for us with a wait of just a minute or two and it costs 7 euro's to get to Nissi beach. This is where you'll find all the topless women, good looking men etc etc. You get the picture. Its more lively and busy than the local Limanaki beach (which also has its good share of extremely beautiful people walking around!), but Nissi beach has more in the way of water sports, hand gliding, bungee jumping etc etc. We really like the men going round selling what they call "Sexy Juice" which is frosted fruit drinks - well worth it in the hot weather. The drinks are great - non alcoholic and the ice just melts gently in the sun. We must have gone to Nissi beach at least 5-6 times. Another beach to try is Fig Tree Bay. This is more of a family orientated beach with kids and families walking around and sun bathing. Its good if that is more your setting. All the beaches mentioned are extremely clean and have crystal clear water. Lovely! The sand is light brown in colour and powdery soft. It gets hot in the sun so you'll need your sandals or you'll have to jump into the sea to keep cool. Back to the hotel, as you'll see from the pictures, it has a lovely pool and we always found sunbeds available. There is a good bar next to the pool serving drinks and food all day long. The food in the restaurant was also of good quality. In the two weeks we stayed, we had no problems with choice, and it was always hot whenever we came down. One thing that we found slightly annoying a fter a few days was Chris who is the entertainments manager at the Nestor. He always comes up to you when you are eating your evening meal, asking you how your day was etc and then asking you to join him for the evening in house entertainment in the hotel bar. It was ok at first but became repetitive and boring after a while. There is lots of meat and vegetarian food available of good standard. I don't know why some people complained about the food. You get different themes on different days of the week and its never the same eg, Italian, Mediterranean, Greek, International, BBQ etc. We really liked it to be honest. There is also the good choice of dessert! And yes, the cakes are lovely and naughty! Be prepared to put on a few pounds. There was one disappointment in the hotel. That is the gym. Although the equipment is minimal and of good order, there is no effective air conditioning in the gym. The result is you sweat a lot after just a few minutes of training. The rest of the hotel is fine and the air conditioning throughout is good. There is user controlled air conditioning in the rooms so you can turn it up or down as required. We also recommend the excursions. You got an external excursion agent aroundd the corner from the hotel. Use them as they are much cheaper than purchasing an excursion from your normal travel rep. The coaches are fine and their staff extremely knowledgeable about Cyprus. We recommend the wine tasting excursion, and Paphos excursion. You get to see Aphrodites Rock on that one. One thing you'll quickly realise about Cyprus is that it has so much history. If you are interested, you'll be quite amazed at what the country has been through. The nighlife is really good. The Square has far too many clubs but they are awesome. We never saw any trouble and there are quite a lot of security and police walking around. We didn't experience any trouble in Ayia Napa. Its very safe and we always had a good time when we went out at night, plus the shops all stay open late too. Enjoy Ayia Napa and you wont go wrong with the Nestor!
very very clean and the staff very helpful
