Great Family Hotel
9 / 10
Jan 2012, hasbobs

We have stayed all inclusive in Fuerteventura several times and we cannot fault our stay at the Elba Sara. The food was fresh, plentiful and varied. The staff helpful and friendly and the facilities were excellent. Our room had an amazing seaview - the pool was fantastic. There is a separate toddler pool with shade and a jacuzzi. Our children loved the mini-disco and we loved the all inclusive bar. Venture out to the nearby beach and take some bread, the fish will feed from your hand. All in all a great holiday and very good value.

We stayed at the Elba Sara Hotel for a week just before Christmas and had a fantastic holiday. This hotel is fantastic and is easily the best hotel we have stayed in, we will definately be returning. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are a great size and all have a sea-view and overlook the well maintained swimming pools and gardens.
We stayed on a half-board basis and found the variety and quality of the food to be very good indeed, always a good selection of main courses and all freshly cooked. Breakfasts were also good with a good selection on offer. The staff in the restaurant were always happy and friendly and it was a pleasure to dine there each evening. .
In fact every member of the staff always had a smile and a 'hello' for us - such a welcome change from some hotels we have stayed in, a particular mention for David in the Restaurant and to Sandra on reception who made the checking in and out process as quick as possible.
The hotel is situated quite close to the airport, about 10 mins away, so there is some aircraft noise (daytime only), but this did not affect our enjoyment of our stay, in some ways it was a bit of interest while sunbathing trying to spot the airline!!
There is a really nice shopping centre next to the hotel and a short walk away is the centre of Caleta with more shops, bars and restaurants.
We cannot fault this hotel and look forward to our next visit. Thank you to all the staff at the Elba Sara for a brilliant week.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea-view but would suggest asking for a higher floor - purely to get a better view!

GREAT HOTEL & STAFF

This hotel has to be the best hotel, my family & I have ever stayed in. The receptionists, waiters & waitresses, bar staff, chefs, cleaners even the pool lifeguard, had time for you, say hello & would greet you with a smile.
From the moment we arrived, on the 19th November until we left on the 26th November, we were treated like old friends, by all the staff.
The hotel, is situated at the far end of the resort of Costa Caleta. There is a small beach about 50yds away, along a promenade type path, that leads into the resort.
The Hotels reception area is large & open & is on the second floor along with two shops an hairdressers & a bar, were entertainment is staged on some evenings.
The first floor, has a wonderful waterfall & a small garden & is were you will find the dining room & the broadway bar, this bar, is much bigger than the bar on the second floor, & also has entertainment & a kids mini disco in there.
Dining, is a buffet service & you will have a large choice of some very enjoyable food. I would recommend, potatoes with some Canarian Mojo sauce. Every evening, you will be greeted, into the dining room by David. On one night, he gave flowers to all the ladies in the dining room, which I thought was nice. Some of the food, although wasn't piping hot certainly wasn't cold. A different selection of meat & fish was served each night & was cooked for you while you waited by the hard working chefs, the deserts were excellent & you could eat as much as you like. Breakfast is also a buffet service, & again there is plenty to choose from.
The rooms, are very spacious & have two large single bed pushed together & a sofa , that can be pulled out to make a third bed. There is a TV & a fridge. The views from all the rooms, have sea views & look over the pool & the gardens of the hotel.
Some of the reviews I read, put down this hotel, 'OK' some parts of the hotel were looking a little tired, but after a long busy season, I would expect some places needed to touched up, with a little paint & chairs needed a better cleaning, but the staff work really hard & try to look after all of their guests, so I can excuse them, of a couple of miner faults.
Overall, Elba Sara is a beautiful hotel with wonderful, hard working staff. Who gave my fiancee, daughter, my mother & myself, a holiday to remember.

not for young couples

had a ten day break with my husband at the elba sara the hotel was lovely really clean. the food was very good had a couple of theme nights . a couple of things that were a pain was that there never was alot of bar staff on and you had to wait for your drinks and in the broadway bar you had to queue in a line to be served !(like you would at a check out for tescos!) most strange. lack of adult entertainment in the evenings so once the kids had there mini disco they put on something but it was so poor that people didnt stay long and was so boring. fair play they did try but it was like being at butlins !. also didnt like the fact all inclusive finished at 11pm so trying to get drinks in before it ended. all rooms have a security box but it was 4 euros a day to hire ! im not stingy but paying for a locked box everyday when you have paid for all inclusive you expect it to be part of the room. the staff were lovely very helpful and nice just could of done with a few more of them. the pool area was good all tho you did have to be up early to put your towels on your sunbed we learnt this after about two days ! you snooze you loose. really good for a family holiday with kids but dont think a young couple could hack the chillness of it even some of the older couples that we met struggled. all rooms had a sea view which was beautiful and waking up to the sound of the sea was lovely.

Well we had our 3 weeks there in the end of Jan. and into Feb. Weather not great for 3-4 days but came good in the end. Had a wonderful time and sooo relaxing, they have installed a new massage room next to lift and i was the first one in to try it. Smashing, came out calm and so peaceful, all aches and pains banished. Well done Elba Sara. Staff are so nice and the managment look after you and as for their chef,he is a wonder with various items, fruit shakes in abundence, every evening something new to surprise you, nice. The big pool has been retiled and cleaned also area around pool, now looking great but still cold shiver. We are returning in May for 2 weeks and im told hotel is booked out for the rest of the season, just glad i booked early. Now do wait till iv had my holiday and then book. I will give you another update then. Thank you Elba sara for my lovely holidays and keep up the good work. Have fun . Regards Marie and John - from Surrey.

Just got back from a week break at Elba Sara. Hotel was clean and rooms were very spacious. Very good atmosphere as the hotel wasn't full but not empty either. Fun entertainment during day and night. Activities such as archery, rifle shooting, table tennis, water polo, football, mini golf etc. Food was good, however, the menu was pretty much the same throughout the week (apart from New Years Eve when they had a fantastic menu)! On the other hand, there were so many dishes that you would usually eat something different every meal time anyway! Good selection of food for kids too. Right next to a small shopping mall and right behind the beach... Very conveniant! 20 min bus ride away from the bigger town centre.
Reasonably priced photographer by the pool too, we asked her to take us for a photo shoot on the beach and she was extrememly patient (there were 3 young kids with us).
Staff were very friendly and helpful apart from one. As there were 14 of us, one of the bar men got annoyed that we didn't all order our drinks at the same time. However, when there were so many of us all coming down at different times, we didn't think this could be helped! Every time we went over to the bar he would purposely ignore us and was really quite rude! We therefore stopped tipping him after a couple of days. This was only 1 man though, the other members of staff were great! They sent up a bottle of champagne and a birthday cake to my mum's room on her birthday.
All in all a very fun and relaxing poolside holiday... Wouldn't mind going back next winter!

Bed Bugs!

I'm not usually the kind of person to write a review on a hotel, and I'm not a 'serial complainer' but this hotel was rather shocking.
I'll get around to my title in a moment.
I'll start with the staff, the buffet and waiting staff were all extremely rude. They did not want to talk to you, which is okay, I'm fine with that, they didn't want us to be there so much so that a waiter took my dinner half way through me eating it when i left for two seconds to re-fill my glass.
The main focus of our all inclusive deal was the buffet, breakfast, lunch and dinner was served. Although a lot of the time the food was disgusting, cold, and they never changed the choice. Same dinner every night. The over all atmosphere of the hotel was actually quite depressing, the night 'entertainment' was amazingly bad that we walked out half way through.
I found myself extremely bored through out the day that I found myself going to sleep during the day, which I now wish I hadn't. I only stayed there for a few days and noticed a few bites which is normal and I passed them off as mosquito bites. Now that I am home however my skin is absolutely covered in a red rash which I have realised are bed bug bites. I had never seen a bed bug before I googled what they looked like when researching this theory of mine, and now I realise that these are the mysterious bug I kept seeing not only crawling on my when I was sitting on my bed, but also crawling on me as I was sitting on the sofa in the bar! You have to wonder to yourself how infested this place is. Personally I am disgusted by this and would not recommend this hotel. I only gave the rating of two because at first glance it is a lovely looking hotel and the bar tenders can make a beautiful margarita! (Although beware alcoholic drinks are clearly very watered down, okay you're all inclusive but complete rip off if youre paying the six euros a glass)
Be warned!

I dont really want to write a full review but after staying here I think theres some important things you should know before you decide to book it.
Check in time at the hotel is 2pm, regardless of what time you arrive they dont have to check you in until 2pm (apparently it says so in their brocher). We arrived at 12.30 and were allocated a room but was told it wasnt ready (it was waiting to be cleaned), after checking for the 3rd time if it was ready, we then complained at which time they changed our room to one which was ready. I was rather annoyed with this as people who had arrived after us were getting rooms that were ready before us. It just seemed unorganised! The manager was also very rude.
I didnt have a problem with the food but I can confirm I found the veg to be luke warm at best and just avoided it.
Although its a beech front hotel, there are no beech facilities (no bed, no parasols etc) The beech directly in front of the hotel is not really used by sun-bathers and the decent to the sea is rocky. There is a lovely sandy cove a 2min walk away that do have all the facilities provided by another hotel and you can rent their beds and parasols for 3 Euros each, so be aware of the added expense or just take your towels and sit on the sand.
I stayed round the pool which was lovely and I didnt have a problem getting a bed, we didnt need to reserve them, maybe when I went it was just quieter.
Toucan bar didnt seem to do much at all, I never saw anyone actually eat there and the menu only consisted of burgers, pizza and pasta, which were always available at lunch in the main resturant. It was more of a place to get drinks from and most of them were on a help yourself basis.
