" wonderfull family holiday "
Submitted By: jillconderThe apartments we clean and tidy and not a cockroach in sight for the full week there, although they are very common out there which doesnt necessarily mean the place is unclean.
The 3 pools were lovely and clean, a little chilly if the wind blew but we were glad of a cool down every now and then anyway. The girls spent the entire holiday in them and teeth didnt chatter once.
The holiday reps made our holiday fabulous. They entertained the children and grown ups alike, if you didnt want to take part there was never any pressure. The activities of an evening in the pool bar were great. The girls loved the 'shake down', childrens disco, and we enjoyed the shows later on too.
The only downside we experienced was the resort was very expensive, make sure you go all inclusive. If you cant get a good deal with a tour operator you can pay for an upgrade to all inclusive when you get there. This is what we did and it worked out a lot cheaper and the food was fine, nothing exciting but certainly edible with good choice.
The planes over head were also noisey at times but not excessively.
The beaches are lovely, the one by the Sheraton Hotel 10mins along the coast was easily the nicest and easily walked to.
We would definately go again without hesitation, a fabulous place, friendly staff and a great family atmosphere.
Advice: family friendly
Activities: beaches

" Great! "
Submitted By: lovesholidays:)Other then the few bad things and maybe the hotel needing abit of a refurb and addition of air conditioning the hotel was great especially the staff, reception always friendly, shops friendly too and restaurant lovely.
The Thomas Cook Entertainment team, Aairon, Dave, Claire (granny Herring), Stevie-jo, and Laura were FANTASTIC, always putting in 100% effort in the activities and shows even if they weren't overly confident they didnt show the nerves. The Variety of shows they put on was really good and the daytime programmes were also great. The Team always got everyone involved but they never were too in your face and always happy to perch on the end of your sunbed and have a chat about anything from back home to their own backgrounds etc.
Overall we had a GREAT holiday and would certainly consider returning even though the people would be different, there would always be the friendly atmosphere around to keep you in the holiday spirit.
Advice: lovely little town, good shops, friendly, nice beach, non-hassel town
Activities: The buffet restaurant in the hotel, and the Goose and Firkin for lunch
Good for: Beach
" Great place! "
Submitted By: familyof42boysWhat a great place and we would certainly not hesitate to re-book again! We stayed in a one bedroom ground floor apartment and found that it was ample for our needs. As others have mentioned you need to take your own tea towels etc but the apartment although basic was adequate for making things like breakfast and lunch. The only fault that I really had was with the terrace. There was no fencing surrounding it so if the patio doors were open young children could get out but those that have kids of similar age will like us always be keeping a look out for them. Another point with the apartment is that the main door handle was low enough for our 22 month old to open.
There were always plenty of things to do for the kids during the day around the pool, the reps worked hard with them at kids club and there was the soft play area. It is advisable that they have pool shoes as although the hotel have put wooden walkways down it can get really slippy.
The resort itself was relatively quiet and you could see the Euro having an impact on places. We ate out every night and would recommend El Patio where there is a lady on the corner offering 30% discount. We had a few paellas in here and next door was Fado Rock who did great meats on the stone, again you would get 20% discounts. We tried a few other places, had quite a good curry but can't remember the name of the place, just down from El Patio and next to a Chinese Restaurant. One place that I wouldn't recommend is Gambrinis next to the Broncemar. We went here on our first night and I had the fish platter, I have never had so well done fish, it was disgusting and the service was appalling!
If you are self catering make sure you get down to the Atlántico Shopping Centre and to the Spar. It is a good 20 min walk but there are free buses running, not sure where from though. The food here is so much cheaper!!!!! There is a large selection of fresh fruit and veg, meat and cheese counter at substantially cheaper prices than the Netto's near the apartments.
We had one issue that we spoke to the First Choice Rep about and she was not at all helpful, it got to the stage that her boss was called in and it then got sorted straight away. She was just awkward and didn't listen. Thankfully we had no other dealings with her!!
The weather was great and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Broncemar to anyone.
Advice: Good for families with young children
Activities: El Patio and Fado Rock restaurants

" Just do it "
Submitted By: Toby2003Accomodation was ok, not much to it, 1 bedroom, bathroom, lounge doubled up as bedroom for the kids at night, kitchen (just a microwave, fridge, sink and 2 rings) but hey you only sleep there right ?.
The pool bar is expensive for drinks but reasonable for snacks, but is mainly down to the exchange rate. better to buy in from the supermarkets.
We have done the 'villa with private pool' for the last 10 years with friends but they pulled out this year due to credit crunch... so was unsure about doing the apartment with pool thing again and was concerned about the pool entertainment... how wrong I was. Dave, Laura, Arron, Stevey and Claire worked 24/7 even off duty to make sure we had a super holiday whether you took part in things or not - they enjoy their jobs and make sure you enjoy your holiday with a great balance of not being in your face. The kids went to kids club and really enjoyed that.
Would definately book to go back.

" Nice hotel! "
Submitted By: WindLoverWatch out for the games/pool tables etc, my son lost about 10 euros putting money in them and getting nothing out/no games, which wasn't very good.
Head rep wasn't interested when I asked if she knew anything about the plane that had crashed (Air France one)her reply that if it wasn't one of theirs (Thomas Cook), then so what, basically. After that comment I was glad I hadn't bothered asking for help after having problems with a hire car.
Food perfectly adequate. Full English or Continental breakfasts and things such as steak, chicken, burgers, curry etc for Evening Meal (half board is recommended with the £ being so bad against the Euro, as it will save you a fortune) Drinks are included with breakfast, tea/coffee/juice etc
In Caleta, did see a few, and I mean just a few cafés where breakfast could be had for 3 euros, but prices very high in general all over the resort of Caleta. 2 Euros for a small coffee (£2) is a rip off imo.
Come out of the Broncemar main entrance, cross road, head left and cut across the bit of wasteland/garden to the next street along, turn right and the little local shop/cafe sells large coffee and a croissant for 1 euro 50....the guy who rescued us from the sand dune gave us the heads up on that one.
The Broncemar is literally on the flight path for every plane that lands on the island and flights start at bang on 7.30 every morning until 10 at night. The planes are so low, you can see the people looking out of the windows on them. Don't pay the £80 transfer fees we paid with Thomas Cook---a taxi from the airport takes about 5 mins (if that) and will be about £8
Not really much to do in Caleta...the beach is ok...costs 9 Euros for 2 sunbeds and a parasol. Much better beach at south of the island in Jandia (pronounced handier). Few playparks dotted about for the kids, the one outside of a cafe called Paprika in one of the Centre Commericals (shopping centres) is nice. High prices in Paprika for drinks though, but at least you can sit down whilst the kids play.
Heading north towards Corralejo is the sand dunes, word of warning, do NOT pull off the road to take pics unless it is a concrete/paved bit. We did, 5 mins b4 sunset and got stuck on the main road with no idea what to do. Lots of locals stopped to help and one nice guy (manager of the perfume shop at Atlantico Shopping Centre in Caleta) took us home in his car and came back the next day to help. Ended up costing 60 euros to have the car towed 10 inches back onto the road so be warned, stay on the road.
Nice relaxing holiday, and if I went back to Fuerteventura, I would definitely stay at the Broncemar again!!

" Good Holiday but expensive "
Submitted By: mrsbatmanThe entertainment team work really hard and even though my kids were the wrong ages for the kids club they were able to join in with other activities. It did feel a bit like Butlins abroad at times but it was fun.
The restuarants that we found to be good were Fado Rock, Tony Roma's and Gambrinis (which is part of Broncemar Beach. Also the beach that is closer to the Atlatica centre is much nicer than the one that is beside the harbour.

Submitted By: nursevPositives- great for Kids entertainment - bit cheesy but they loved it! Ent team were excellent worked incredibly hard. Kids club staff great, my daughter has special needs and there was no problem with her going in. Ist come ist serve for places in the kids club. Apartment spacious loads of storage. Pool area well kept. Nice enough restaurants but ask for potaoes if you don't want chips with everything.Good Italian 2 min walk away, nice chinese (slow boat 2) All restaurants had kids menu. Quiet family orinetated town. Market on a sat worth a look.
Negatives - got stung with t. cook airlines for excess baggage - be warned! Apartment very basically equipped (no corkscrew/sieve/limited crockery/cutlery) take you own t towel and dish cloth. Also in need of updating. Coin operated TV a joke terrible picture. At the end of the day it is a 3 star which we knew before booking. No air con so would be hot high season although fine for us at Easter.
Atlantico centre had the cheapest prices, 10 min walk away. Generally expensive due to the euro
Advice: Quiet family orientated resort

Submitted By: vca, tennis courts, nice walks. We left the Broncemar everymorning to have a nice(not greasy) English breakfast at the Goose & Firkin, just 2min walk, sets u up for day.Too be fair we were straight back, bought beer at supermarket too drink round pool, cheaper.Just get involved in the water volleyball with Arron,Stevie,Claire & Dave the Rave coz they work 24/7 too make your hol & they do!We didnt even leave the complex of a night.3 of us had a snooze then up for disco! If youve got kids it is ideal!! Enjoy!XXX
Good for: Beach

My only one negative point was that the pool was meant to be heated, and it wasnt - it was freezing - and the area around the pool was extremely slippery!
The resort itself is very relaxed and there is lots of playgrounds for the children. We would definately return to the Broncemar Beach again.
