Ok if you are Spanish or German!!
from Fred41
Bungalows have seen better days but comfortable never the less. All inclusive bar shuts at 11pm (not the 12am it says on the website) but what this actually means is that the staff have to be finished by 11pm so be prepared to stand in a big queue at 10.30. Food was good, always found something to eat. The majority of guests were either Spanish or German and you have to be up at 8am to get a sunbed!!! Staff were mixed, some were ok but the reception staff were terrible especially at night. If you want to stay up late chatting with a drink you had better keep the noise down as they come round telling you to go to bed if it is after midnight!! Not good if you, like us, are on holiday to enjoy yourself. Bit in the middle of nowhere but only 2-3 Euros in a taxi to either Playa or Maspalomas itself. Would go back to Maspalomas but definately not to this accomodation!
disgusting even for the money!!!!

we arrived about 3 am as soon as we pulled up at the resort i became worried, the outside is shabby and quite grubby looking. we were met by some miserable security/receptionist who gave us our keys and didnt even offer to help us down the 20 odd steps with 3 very large bags.(2 women and a child) after struggling to open the apartment door with its dodgy lock we walked in to be greeted by a filthy bathroom and foul smelling sheets. because it was so late we decided not to make a fuss and head straight for bed, or so we thought as we couldnt even lock the door as the lock was so old and very stiff. i decided to go and ask the security bloke for help as i didnt feel comfortable sleeping with the door left open although he huffed at me and told me hed get some one to sort it in the morning!! (however no 1 ever came to check the problem) next morning i put a bit of oil on the lock and managed to get it to work. next was breakfast what can i say... BASIC, no bacon just toast a few hotdog sausages in tomato sauce and a bit of runny egg. the evening meal was even worse about 5 choices none of which you could make a meal out of. as for children DO NOT entertain this hotel if u have children under 12 as there really is nothing for them to eat except chips. the pool by day gets to packed with volleyball games with grown men lobbing leather footballs about, during this time do not let small children in the pool as they are very likely to get injured or drown!! im not fussy ive stayed in basic aparments before but this is a joke if u like filthy smelly and rough complexes great this is for you but even for the money this place if disgusting!! you also have to get taxis everywhere to find a scrap of family nightlife in fact any sort of nightlife out of 10 this hotel would barely scrape a 2!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
Value for money

Before going out to the resort we read previous reviews and as a result we were concerned as to what we were going to find. We (2 pensioners) arrived on the 31 May 2008 for 7 nights All Inclusive accommodation at the Maspalomas Oasis Club Resort. I am pleased to report that the resort and apartments were extremely clean and the staff were extremely friendly. As regular visitors to G C. we were expecting to see cockroaches but during our weeks stay at the resort we did not see any. The food was well prepared, presented and provided a varied diet with fish, chicken, pork and beef being available most days as well as vegetables and salads. The soups were delicious and we can not understand how anyone can say the food or the resort was not to standard. The inclusive drinks we drank included wine & beer with lunch & dinner, soft drinks of Coke & Lemon & coffee during the day, and Brandy & Coke and Gin & Tonic each evening. The resort was in the middle of Maspalomas and too far from the beech for us to walk but a free bus to and from the beech ran every hour. The animation was adequate but the Faro 2 centre was a short walk away and the Yumbo Centre a short taxi ride away. Due to the cost of the holiday being very resonable it really was value for money and we will be going again.
Loved the Englishness!
from kickinchicken
On reading other review of this place I was initially terrified, especially as one review said, if you're english, dont go! This couldnt be further from the truth. The fact is, Gran Canaria is hugely popular with germans and therefore most hotels cater more for them. This hotel wasnt like that at all, there was een a note given to us on check in that if you were not at the htoel during the day you MUST NOT reserve sunbeds with your towels!! Ha! Anyway, the food, for an AI was above average, and far better than most AI's Ive stayed in! We even had chicken kebab and vedge one day, YUMMY! Drinks - Somebody said that shock horror, not only a lack of kettle but a rubbish hob you could barely heat water on, I was rather confused as, as an added bonus, the hotel had a 24 hour hot drinks free vending machine with tea, coffee, etc...So...! The room was basic but fine, and cleaned pretty much every day! Hotel was lovely, pool area and grounds very well maintained. Everyone friendly and all entertainment included everyone, and the majority of peole there were english. (Maybe this changes throughout the year?) Not only that, your neighbours were always of the same language as you, english were put together, germans together, etc, so making friends was easy and everyone chatted to eachother, friendliest hotel on the island I reckon!
Great bargain holiday

A very cheap deal for All inclusive, including flights approx £800 for all four of us, so we were a bit apprehensive as to what we would get. We had booked the flights with GB airways so the only problem we had was that the return was at a different time (4 hours later). with Easyjet. The pre booked taxi picked us up and within 20 min we were dropped off outside the reception. The room was right outside the bar area which was great for us and as most people were in bed by midnight the noise was not a problem. everything about this place was spot on for us, the complex was enclosed so is safe to let the kids go off on there own. The food for a 2* hotel was fine with 3 buffets a day only a real fuss pot would have trouble finding something to eat, the beer and wine was fine as was the vodka and cocktails.Alfredo the entertainer was great with the kids and tried to involve everyone, Rooms were clean and the shower hot. this is a great place for familys with kids under 14/15 any older and they may get board. Check out the camel safari with Zig Zag tours, it was a great full day out meeting at a given point to be allocated with a driver and a 4X4 jeep then off in convoy to the camel ride then up into the mountains for a great 3 course lunch then on the way down you get on a dirt track road so be warned you will get very dirty so wear old clothes. With our flights being later we were a bit worried about what would happen after we checked out at midday but as there are no other guests allowed into the hotel (so you had no wristbands) it meant we could have a late lunch before we went to the airport and have any drinks we wanted aswell. There is a free bus service to take you down to the famous dunes and taxies are not too bad a price to get about. Overall a great family holiday, you have to put up with a few Germans who think that the hotel revolves around them but just ignore them and you will have a great time.

have just recently had a holiday at Maspalomas Oasis club and overall it was worth what we paid. 2* is what it was. the accommadation was superb and the maid was top notch...best maid we ahve ever had. Food...not a great variety but that was what you expect from 2*. alfredo the entertainer was brilliant and the pool was goood too. Location was good...15 minute walk to Faro 2 shopping centre. and great we also found a boot sale in the car park on sunday morning. 85% was germans and they did take over a bit... a must is the sand dunes. free bus every hour or so... time table at reception. overall a good holiday. ciao for now
happy days!

me and my boyfriend went to Maspalomas early last summer. After reading the reviews last year we thought it would be just acceptable. we actually had a really nice time! we're both in our very early twenties, but were'nt out for binge drinking and clubbing, we wanted a slobby relaxing easy two weeks, and we got it. lets address the food. being a small hotel, you cant expect 200 different dishes each day to choose from, doesnt happen. I'm a picky eater and I ate myself silly! (so did the boyfriend!) now, its buffet style meals so if your late or the last people in, the food will not be boiling, dont say silly things like it wasnt hot, its not a restaurant where they bring out your chosen meal striaght out the kitchen! the place was clean, the rooms were nice, quite spacious little bungalows but we sp[ent most of the time lazing by the pool. we did however venture out, it takes about 2/3 minutes in a taxi (€4-5) to reach playa de inglesa (pardon my rubbish spanish) and theres loads of shops, restaurants and a gorgeous beach that stretches as far as the eye can see. staff were friendly, and helpfull, the drinks were fine, who really cares weather its local or a brand when it comes to lemonade! (try the cocktails!) measures were not small, the vodka and coke's almost killed us! its a fairly quiet area not lots of crazy wild noise all night. the sunbeds were the only half issue, there wasnt quite enough to go round, and certain people hogged them (cough germans cough) but it wasnt bad at all! reading some of the previous reviews i say go cause we had a fabulous time and people moan about the sillyest and slightest of things! (also is only about 30-40 mins from airport in taxi!)
cant wait to go back!

I've been home for a week and haven’t got round to writing this review because talking about it makes me sad that I didn't decide to stay longer! It was that good! The 'hotel' was a 2* it could have been 3* but the bungalows were basic, the rooms were small and decorated in a really nasty 1980s grey and pink! They fit up to 4 but for 2/3 adults they were perfect. Our room was cleaned every day except one (everybody needs a day off) the beds were changed once because we asked the cleaners who always had a cheery “!Hola!” not to change them a second time as we were only there 7 nights. The grounds were lush with hibiscus, bird of paradise and palm trees, the pool was perfect size for 100 rooms as the beach was a bit bland the sand was yellow, but it’s hard to avoid the black volcanic sand of the canaries washing up in the water making it look murky the pool was great. The hotel had a bus to the beach till 5ish. Sometimes you might have to wait for a sun-bed by the pool, other times there was plenty and don’t miss the little manmade beach out back, ok, its just some yellow sand dumped round the back of the furthest rooms, I know it doesn’t sound romantic but what a sun trap! The bar and pool are in the middle of the hotel so it can get noisy when your trying to sleep but by the end of the trip it will probably be you making the noise! We were by the bar so the ice-lolly machine and drinking water tap made our room noisier than others. The bar was so cute and the staff remembered everybody’s drinks except Pedro who refused to serve me unless I spoke the Spanish he thought me (I can now order a beer and one gin and tonic in Spanish, bonus!) truthfully the staff didn’t speak a lot of English but plenty to be getting on with. They really were friendly they didn’t even mind us sneaking behind the bar to help are selves when the bar staff were called away. There are no guests allowed in the hotel so they knew everyone was all in. The children’s coordinator remembered the kid’s names and spoke to them all in their own language which was a nice touch that brought the kids together for games. There were games all-day and a disco at night for the kids before the entertainment which was all external, from what I’ve see it’s similar to all the hotels nearby. The bar closed at 11 every nite thankfully as our room face the bar! If you wanted to party on there are bars in the shopping centre Faro 2 (try the banana bar, they are very friendly), it’s about a 15min walk or a 3euro taxi away. The bars there were very friendly but if you want a dance 7/8 euro would take you into playa de ingles were there is a healthy nite life. The food I must admit wasn’t fantastic but there was so much you couldn’t go hungry chips with all meals if you don’t fancy anything else on the Spanish/German/English menu, burgers and cake between meals. The only beer was nice if a bit sharp, they had most spirits, lodes of wine some cocktails and fruit juice, the fizzy drinks weren’t that good but then, there not that good for you! Tea and coffee was probably our only issue it was all from a machine the milk was powdered and even the shop bought stuff we got for our own fridge wasn’t very nice. Not that you could really make your own tea, there was no kettle in the room just a saucepan!?! So we got by on the herbal teas. The boiling water was turned off at 11 too so no tea when you get back from a night out! How can I some up? Oh yes, I loved this hotel! It was pretty, friendly and well, homely. We met some lovely people from all over Europe I can’t wait to go back. Value for money! P.S. I saw 5 cockroaches in maspalomas 3 in the hotel ground's but none in the rooms! it’s a Gran Canarea thing not a Maspalomas Oasis Club thing.
if your english dont go
from fran35
just came back from a week at the maspalomas oasis club bungalows not a good week.! STAFF: i really dont think they have any time for the english at all, the staff were very rude and wouldnt even give you the time of day they are supposed to speak english but couldnt understand anything you was trying to explain to them. ROOMS : this is something im not usualy that worried about as you only sleep and wash there, but here the rooms were dirty, they wasnt cleaned for 4 days which meant dirty damp towels to wipe in. same bedding all week, and seeing there is no air con in there either ,didnt think this was good. couldnt leave bedroom window open as it faced a main road which caused alot of noise. FOOD : this was the worst of everything had to live off chips for the whole week, even they were cold and half cooked. they really do cater more for the spanish and germans and believe me the place is full of them. ALL INCLUSIVE : drinks choice was terrible it was either vodka or lager and they shut the bar at five to eleven and if you was still up at twelve you was told to go to bed ! The afternoon snack was just a piece a cake and it was horrible. ENTERTANMENT : in house bingo thats it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POOL AREA : you have to get up at 6 am if you want a sun bed as towels are left on there from the day before and you will still be lucky to get one. the pool is nice but very slippery around the edges as many people kept slipping up. OVERALL : maspalomas was a lovely place so many things to do and see go and visit holiday world its a big funfair its great fun, take advantage of the trips eg: camel riding in the mountains ( what a experience !!! ) and definatley go to sioux city its a fantastic night out . if you want the nightlife catch a taxi into the yumbo centre it only costs 3 euros and you will laugh all night at the people there ( if you go you will see what i mean ). if your thinking of going to maspalomas dont stay here if your english you will be dissapointed, it is definatly a hotel for german and spanish families .
Great holiday
from The_Lower_Clan
We have just returned from a week's all inclusive break. Wow what a great time we had. The bungalows themselves were clean but basic with 1 bedroom upstairs and sofa bed and pull out bed downstairs. Half of the bungalows overlook the pool and bar area. There was a mix of nationalities, Brits, German, Spanish and Czechs, but this made it even better for us. All nationalities interacted well and our children made friends from all of the nationalities overcoming any language difficulties. It's the people who make the holiday and we met many great families here. Special thanks to Alfred the entertainer who was just great with the kids, remembering their names and making our time their special. There was also no problem with sunbeds, getiing out of bed at 8.30 and still having plenty of beds. We always had our sunbeds outside our bungalow which was great just 4 mtrs from our door. However the only downside to the holiday was the variety of food available which must be improved and the unfriendliness of the staff. Particular attention must be made for kids and vegetarians. There is always french fries on the menu but on 1 particular day there was no option for our daughter who is a vegetarian and also no chips. She had to make do with a cucumber batch. The rating for this property is officially 2 star but it is a good 2 star and we would have rated it excellent but for the food. All in all we had a fab time.
In all fairness found most of the staff very accomodating.Beautiful place, plenty of activities,, Cheap holiday dont think so... Been in Maspalaomas last 4yrs stayed somewhere different every time, this being the most expensive. Got robbed of all our money on 2nd night... more
