Room Clean, but Poorly Maintained

- Advice: Great city to explore, loads of bars and restaurants. Large Shopping Centre and parking is easy
- Activities: Tootsies, located just outside the Oracle. Simple food, but done to a very high standard.

I stayed here for a few days last...

I stayed here for a few days last Easter in a family room because we were having a short-break which included visiting Legoland, Windsor, and Oxford and this particular Travelodge seemed to be a good base and value for money.
It is a modern, clean hotel with usual basic standard of Travelodge accommodation one would normally expect.
The room was clean, spacious with tea and coffee making facilities and the all-important comfortable bed ensured a great night’s sleep. There is a little M&S shop next day for foodie essentials as well as the adjacent motorway services.

We booked early for a bargain price of £9/night. The room was clean and the location was perfect for exploring Reading and the surrounding area, only 10 mins drive from the Madejski Stadium.
The room was let down by the poor maintenance. The shower-head was damaged and sprayed water all over the bathroom. This was made worse byt the fact that the handrail was hanging off the wall, the 2 problems combined could easily have resulted in a trip or fall.
The Towel rail had been disconnected, with a sign saying it was "for safety reasons"; but this also was hanging off of the wall.
I reported this to reception on departure, and received an e-mail 2 weeks later saying they valued the feedback and were sorry for any inconvenience caused. Even so, this has put me off ever paying the full price for a room.
