Bel Soggiorno Hotel

The Bel Soggiorno is a typical Italian villa beautifully situated amongst it's own lush gardens and overlooking the bay. Our room was very large with bedroom, mezzanine lounge area and own patio area for enjoying breakfast in the morning or just reading a book with a glass of wine in the evening. One of the nights there was the most dramatic thunder and lightning storms I have ever witnessed in my life and the view from the hotel was breathtaking. We stayed in this hotel for a week this Summer. It was beautiful. It was quiet and had fabulous views out to sea and of Mount Etna. The breakfast was varied with a constantly replenished selection. We had a room with a sea view and a terrace, it was very private and had a lovely view. It was quite a steep walk into town in the heat, not for the faint hearted!However I would strongly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is wonderful. The setting could not be bettered, fantastic views over the sea with Etna to the right. We had a room opening on to the terrace. We arrived late in the evening, having travelled down by train from Rome, and it was not until the next morning when we woke and opened the doors onto the terrace that we saw the wonderful seting. We loved this hotel! Don't expect anything fancy but if you like hotels with magnificient views then this is the one. We stayed for a whole week in July which was very hot with temperatures in the mid to high 30's. On this basis I would recommend going at a cooler time of year. This was the only downside to our visit. The hotel is well situated and is only a 10 minute walk to the cable car or a 15 minute walk to the main plaza area. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bel Soggiorno for a week in July this year. We decided on Taormina & only booked the holiday a month before we flew. I'd been into the travel agents & they'd printed off details of several hotels in Taormina, all of which were pretty pricey & looked ok-ish, but not outstanding considering how much they were charging for a week's stay. Have just returned from a week's stay at this hotel. The peaceful hillside location is beautiful, with spectacular views, but be prepared for a 10-minute walk (partly up a stepped path) into the centre of Taormina. The hotel is very quiet, more like a private house, and the staff are unobtrusive, but friendly and helpful. There's no bar, but drinks can be ordered from reception. A hotel in a great location, with stunning views and friendly helpful staff. Breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlights of our stay. The hotel was very clean. We had visited Taormina in August when we rented a villa for the family so thought a return trip would be great - and it was! We read the reviews on Bel Soggiorno and it seemed about right for us and our two friends who have travelled with us extensively. The first thing to say about this hotel is that it is good value for money. The second is - it's only a 3* hotel so don't expect all mod cons. The rooms are clean but very basic. After reading the great reviews on Trip Advisor we happily booked the Bel Soggiorno. It is a beautiful old building perched on the side of the main road heading towards Taormina. Our room was very basic but we reckoned the views made up for that. The breakfast staff were just lovely too but when it came to the manager/owner and his mother.....they were the most miserable looking, unfriendly people we met on our entire holiday! There are lots of beautiful hotels in Taormina but they are very expensive. The Hotel Bel Soggiorno is not, and it represents excellent value for money. Its glamour may have faded but it is arguably all the more charming for that - you feel like you have gone back in time. Most rooms have very large shared balconies. Make sure you get one - I would have been very disappointed not to. The breakfast terrace is stunning and the buffet is more than adequate although the juices and coffee are not great.
