This was our third visit to Protaras, though previously stayed in other accomodation. Sadly it wasnt available for this trip. Location is excellent, with short walk to great beach and equally close to all the restaurants and bars. We did feel, however, that compared with previous visits, Protaras is losing its traditional Cypriot ambience, to be replaced with the typical tourist "attractions" like so many other resorts eg - karaoke, drunken hen and stag nights etc etc, and dare I say it , more British!!!

The main disappointment though was the standard of accomodation at the Tropical Dreams. Based on a comparison with a equally rated establishment, there is much room for improvement. The overall decor throughout is badly in need of refurbishment. Although the apartment was cleaned regularly, it lacked the basic amentities that you assume would be provided, such as, soap, dishcloths. The towels are old and rough and need to be replaced. The air conditioning is at an additional charge (daily) which I consider to be unacceptable given that this is a necessary facility, not a luxury.

We did not use the restaurant facility, so cannot comment, however, highly recommend a little gem we found and returned to for 4 nights of our total 6. Its directly opposite Tropical Dreams, Astoria. The staff are warm, genuine and their attention to detail is superb. The food is of a consistently high standard and the whole experience excellent.

me and my boyfriend have just returned from holiday from the tropical dreams. this was not the hotel we were meant to be staying in but thats another story. when we pulled up to the hotel we were very disappointed it looks so basic and run down.

when entering the reception it also is vey basic doesnt even look like a reception misserable lady behind the counter that didnt even crack a smile.

we stayed in room 201 which unfortunatley was right next to the noisiest lift ever and if you are going i wouldnt suggest you dont use it unless you like being trapped in small spaces.

the room yes was clean but really needs a make over the bathroom was not good the shower goes from hot to cold and like a matter of seconds and is very dangerous temp changing like that as it would burn a child. the toliet did not flush properly and they didnt even provide soup. come on!!! the towels provided all had stains on and holes not nice.

the bedroom was ok but the sheets didnt look clean, when we left the cleaner came in she didnt remove our sheets she made the beds so i wonder if they did actually put new sheets on for the people coming after us. yuk!!

the area is lovely though and the weather is to die for, location is excellent near all the shops and bars and good restaurants. i will be returning to cyprus but never to the tropical dreams more like tropical nightmare!

please dont waste your money on this hotel! u will be disappointed.

I had read the reviews on these apartments and had mixed feelings as you had 2 families visiting at the same time with different reviews. We decided to book these apartments and the overall feeling from out party of 7 was fantastic. The apartments are not luxury but accomodate everything you need. Location is fantastic, away from noise and very close to beach/shops/bars and amenities. Staff at the apartments were really helpful and nice, safe deposit boxes easy to use in the reception area. The pool area was nice, pool recently been refurbished, no problems with getting a sunbed, relaxed and chilled. Golden Star supermarket near the beach was the cheapest for groceries. Must mention Costa at the restaurant, lovely guy, giving out free slush EVERYDAY by the pool and freshly chopped orange. His food in the restaurant was great nothing too much trouble, Nadia who worked in the restaurant was great too. While we were there it was my parents anniversary and they arranged a cake for us, flowers on the table etc. Overall the holiday was fantastic in fact the inlaws have booked again for next year.

We went to Tropical Dreams Apartments in Protaras, East Cyprus.

The weather was lovely and hot with only a few hours of cloud during one morning while we were away mid-September.

The Apartments themselves were very basic and needed a lick of paint. The room we were initially allocated had leaks on the toilet and air-conditioning. The reception had no problems allocating us another room though their understanding of English seemed more limited than what we are used to.

We ended up in room 101(!) which was located a footstep away from the reception area thus we could hear people play snooker and the telephone on reception. We were also near the lift which could be heard throughout the night, as could the Water Show which was on most evenings between 9 and 11pm. The new room unfortunately meant we lost our street view though this did not bother us too much. We were disappointed to find that no basics such as a dishcloth or soap were provided, neither could we find a hairdryer which we thought would be included. The Air-conditioning also had to be paid for extra at 33 Euros for the week.

The pool area was very nice and the staff at the bar were very polite and would often walk around the pool area handing people free drinks. The main chef Augusto, would instantly remember your name and I have heard he remembers you if you were there the previous year!

The location of the Apartments could not be faulted with the strip being literally a minute's walk up the road and the vast selection of bars and elegant restaurants left us spoilt for choice. A minute's walk in the opposite direction from the Apartments would lead us to the beachfront which had a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Overall we enjoyed the holiday very much. Despite the issues with the acommodation the wide range of bars and restaurants and the central location made for a nice holiday. We would visit Protaras again though we would not return to the same apartments.

Dreadful. Although very clean the hotel was like someting from the tv show Benidorm. With the music playing at maximum volume from 08.00Hrs until 19.00Hrs at the poolside each day you cannot take the time to relax and even with your own music at maximum on your earphones you could still not drown out their music together with all the chaos around the pool area. Protaras is a very nice resort but the hotel was an extremely poor choice.

We stayed there for this years holiday, I can only echo the good things that have been said before. The staff are great they work very hard, very friendly. Rooms cleaned near enough every day.

costas makes you feel really welcome, yes its true he does remember everyone's names, there were 9 of us, he was told once and that was enough lol his hospitality is second to none with free drinks and fruit given to our party each day and evenings. The beach is very nice, the sea is very clear and clean. We would recommend anyone to this hotel, yes we would return again without doubt. best regards to costas from: Shaun , Debbie, Stephanie , Pete , Maxine , Josh , Lorna , Ash , Clare

Very pleasant stay at the tropical dreams apartments! although when we arrived at 1.00 am the room we were given must have been intending for 2 people to be sleeping in, not 4, as there was bedding for the proper beds, but none for the other living room beds, and when we put the pop up bed up, it was a little bit broken, but a little improvation and hey, it lasted the full 14 days. Receptionist was very welcomming, but the night staff didnt speak too much english, but hey we were in cyprus, so. Costas, nicky and raphael were fantastic, and we would like to thank them very much for their lovely hospitality, inc the lovely 'tropical dreams' cocktail :-). Pool was great, very clean, however on some days when it was hotter, it would be busy as the beach was a little bit too hot for your feet, but it was friendly. overall very clean, and welcome, if a little in need of some tlc especially the lift, as on some days it didnt work, and made a very ramdon noise, but the receptionist said that we could use the maids lift! Great holiday, would go back if only to see Costas and family.

Me and my boyfriend have just came back from a weeks holiday in cyprus. we stayed in tropical dreams. The rooms are very clean, and really spatious. The receptionist lady is lovely, will do anything to please you. Unfortunately i had a severe allergic reaction to a cocktail, and the receptionist was very helpful and called a doctor out. The pool is really good, and the apartments are a 5 minute walk to the beach The town is really good, meals are reasonably priced, and entertainment is fantastic. I would definately recommend going on the jeep safari, and visiting the water park in Ayia Napa, and the water show which is a 2 second walk from the apartment.

I would definately recommend staying in tropical dreams, i had a fanastic time, and wish i didnt have to come home!!!

I and my family went to Cyprus for me and my partner to get married. Everything about the holiday was brilliant.

The Tropical Dreams has got the friendliest staff that I have ever come across they would do anything for you. Especially Costas who owns the restaurant and poolside bar you have got to meet him to believe how kind and generous he is.

My two children were with us and I honestly don’t think we paid for an evening meal, drink, or ice cream for them. He was forever handing out free drinks daily and nightly and fresh fruit. Costas never forgot a name no matter how busy he was. The man is a gentleman.

We had absolutely no complaints about the accommodation it was cleaning spacious well what else you really need.

Would definitely go back to the tropical dreams apartments and would recommend it to anyone the resort has something for everyone. The location of these apartments is perfect you are out the way of the noise but yet only 2 minutes walk to the centre.

From the moment we arrived everything was really good. The apartments were much larger than expected and very clean, they were by far the biggest we have been in. We go to Protaras regularly and this was the nicest overall experience. Costas remembered 15 names on the first night we arrived and never got one wrong after that. Amazing!

The food is nice and the service is good. All the staff are hard working and friendly and they love the kids, my 3 year old had free ice creams and chips whenever he wanted. They would never accept any money from him.

The pool was lovely, clean and fresh and there was a little pool for the toddlers. They could benefit from an enclosed soft play area or park though if I were to be honest.

The rooms were cleaned every day, bar one. The air con is £35 extra but hey, worth every penny if you ask me, and only £7 for a safe for the week.

Really really pleased excellent value and would deffo go there again.

Well Done Tropical Dreams

Just Returned from 2 weeks in these apartments. Weather was scorching!

Good Clean accommodation. Rooms are a decent size. (Two adults and two teenagers in a 1 bed apartment and still plenty of room). Rooms are cleaned regularly and hotel staff are helpful and friendly.

Pool and Bar attached is excellent. Food is good and Manager Costas in a friendly helpful guy who has an unbelievable ability to memorise everyone's name. He constantly brings out free snacks and soft drinks for everyone and must work 18 hours a day.

Good location. 2 minutes from the beach.

If you are going in August it is busy in the resort - it's Cypriot holiday time.

Would recommend to anyone. Would almost definately go back.
