Just got back today and thought we would do what we have never done before; ie do one of these reviews. The hotel is very good but with it being so big, the catering is a bit like a canteen. There is no atmosphere as they are having to move so many bodies through so fast.... more

Beautiful hotel, excellent facillities, rooms really spacious, very clean.
Would go back in a second if it wasnt for the food. Same things every night, no variety, and definately not up to the standard for the rest of the hotel. Very poor.

Its OK but crowded
We stayed at the barcelo in August, the rooms were clean, the nearby beach was sandy and clean, the childrens clubs and night time entertainment were excellent, the only gripe that we had was that the pool area was over crowded with not enough loungers or enough room to put any loungers otherwise very nice, I would rate it as a 3 star
Just what we needed
Arrived around 12:30, of course we couldn’t check in until 2pm, no problem the concierge took our bags and stored them for us whilst we wandered around the hotel and grounds, all the reception staff where multi-lingual and could help with any problem we had. The hotel was spotless, constantly being cleaned. The gardeners and window cleaners where out daily doing there jobs. As mentioned on other reviews … The Restaurant, its easy, men should where shorts that come below the knee for evening meal this applies to all nationalities not just the British, breakfast is back to wearing beach shorts. The food was really good, it catered for all European tastes, and more than enough for everyone. Best bit for us was eating our evening meal outside with the local tribe of cats .. great entertainment, as cat lovers we tried to avoid being caught by the restaurant staff for feeding them and mildly amusing the Germans by our antics The rooms are large, serviced immediately after you leave them in the morning, shower is excellent, air con really good, as long as you shut the patio doors as the air con is on a sensor on the lock … as we learnt on our first day The resort itself, Caleta de Fuste is really relaxed, safe, friendly and no lager louts, I can highly recommend the ‘Blues Bar’ who again are as attentive as the hotel staff, great walks along the headlands. The only let down is the beach at Caleta De Fuste, great for kids as it shelves so little, the water only reached your waste even 200 yds out, and the quiet end of the beach is volcanic rock and is very sharp. Recommend car hire to the more southerly part of the Island i.e. Sotovento Beaches, brilliant clear blue water, white sand, safe tides. Unless you like Blackpool don’t bother with Correlejo
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.
I have just returned from fuerteventura, I decided on a last minute holiday with my two children (aged 10 and 12). We have been to some really nice places, but this one in my opinion was the best. The hotels was big and bold and the rooms were clean and spacious. The food was good, the pool area was great, with pleanty of sun loungers, but did lack umbrellas, as in the afternoon some shade was needed as it was very hot. The evening entertainment was the best I have seen so far, I take my hat off to the hotel staff they worked hard to provide good evening entertainment. In fact my kids want to go back next year and give florida a miss. so thats saying something. well done first choice.
Nice Hotel but busy at Meal times
We just got back from staying 10 days half board at this hotel (ages 35 and 28). On our arrival we were greeted quickly and efficiently by the reception staff. Rooms are large and spacious with basic facilities. Air-con was just about adequate - it never worked that well. Fridge in the room was good to have. The room was clean but housekeeping became a bit shoddy by the end. TV in room was made up of mostly German channels! The restaurant coped remarkably well considering it was feeding all the guests at the hotel. Food was geared towards the German cuisine. They do need to get their act together clearing tables and resetting them as frequently we would enter the restaurant not being able to find a table set up and sometimes had to sit at a dirty table and wait for it to be cleared and re set. Evening entertianment was good to begin with (1hr each evening eg. River Dance, Abba, acrobats). Drink prices were pricey.
Full marks Brilliant Barcelo
We stayed AI for a week on 7/8/04 to celebrate our first anniversary/belated honeymoon, we could not have asked for more. Everything the Barcelo does, it does extremely well. Clean and welcoming, very friendly staff, fantastic food, great rooms, wonderful view, about 10 metres from the beach, right in town, so a wonderful location. Caleta de Fuste is a nice little town with plenty of reasonably priced restaurants if you are SC or half board, as we were in February with the children. Lots of nice little shops too and just up the road is the Atlantico shopping centre(it's a mini-mall) with a fab Euro-Spar and a few other shops. Fun Entertainment at the hotel every night, provided by the hard working animation team, everywhere spacious, so even in peak season you don't feel overwhelmed with people. We felt it's 4 star rating was well deserved and we can't wait to return with our 3 children as the kids entertainment looked fab too. Two small points to note in peak season, get your sunbed reserved between 7-8am and get into the entertainment lounge between 8-9pm to ensure a decent spot, where you will served in your seat by very hard working waiting staff. All in all, A very impressive hotel in a great location.
just back.
a very well kept hotel , very clean good rooms. all in all a good holiday base. the downsides are simply the sunbeds and the resteraunt manager. you will have to get up at 6 am to reserve a sunbed like everyone else otherwise you will pay8 euros on the beach, like we did for 6 days. the resteraunt manager at night time is a little hitler who lets germans and spanish ect wear shorts but not brits. he should concentate his efforts in keeping down the long line of peiple trying to get in and out of the resteraunt. other than that a good hotel, but could be so much better.
Fantastic relaxing holiday
This hotel is precisley what you need if you require a relaxing holiday without clubbers in the streets and lager louts. The hotel was fabulous, massive beds, the rooms fit two adults and two kids easily, good air conditioning, not many english channels on TV though. The main clientele seemed to be families of british, italians & spanish. The kids club was a godsend. The entertainment guys "angelo & Jose" seemed to work 12 hours a day providing quality entertainment every day & evening for the adults. Full credit to them. The buffet style meals offered a huge choice and with 4 picky kids, even they found something to eat. If you're looking for chips this is not the place to go. I read the reviews before I went and would have to agree on the comments about the staff not being over friendly, but to give them some credit it's maybe because the same ones working in the poolside bar also work into the night at the inside bar, so i doubt i would feel cheery working 12 hours a day every day. There was plenty of space on the beach and the loungers around the pools (especially the baby pool) did have towels on them from about 7am. The area felt very safe and we hired a car for a day to visit Corralejo, the dunes were lovely, although the rest of the island does seem to be fairly barren. One tip though, if you are going half board, the drinks purchased from the poolside bar are very expensive, so you are better buying from the chilled juice machine or buying juice from the supermarket and keeping it in your fridge. All in all, i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice family break, there is enough to do on the island if you make enquiries. We visited in July 2004, it was very hot, 40 degrees constantly, my kids certainly needed t shirts on in the water all the time using spf 30 at all times. It seemed to be hottest between 4-5pm. Fantastic, would go back again....no question!
Great Hotel to visit
My family have now been twice to this hotel and both times we cannot fault the rooms, the restraunt and the good service you get from all the staff.Although Caleta del Fuste is small it is very clean with a nice beach. You will not want to leave the hotel as the entertainment is very good and the bar prices are the same as bars outside Try it you will not be disappointed
its rated too high
we went to the barcelo 9/6/2004 and we had high expectations of the hotel as we had seen the hotel 4 years ago and thought how nice it looked. we arrived at 9.30pm and got our keys to the room which was not as big as we thought it would be.(we did have a 7ft bed though!) the next morning we went down for breakfast the choice was very good but the english breakfast was cold! our evening meal was different to what we expected, there was a large variety of dishes but i am sorry to say the catering was more for the Germans and French than for the English lots of cold salads and cold meats, there was a griddle where there was a variety of foods being cooked but again they catered more for the Germans and French, the roast turkey when on the menu was delicious but we found the roast beef to be very rare ok if you like your beef like that! the sweets were the same every night some were very sickly cakes but again a good variety. we soon realised that if you wanted to lay in the sun on one of the very many sun-beds you needed to be up at sun-rise to put your towels on the beds (which we didn't do) this was supposedly against hotel rules but was never enforced. We sunbathed on the beach as the beds were packed together like sardines thats if you can get one. Our Maid Bety was very good and friendly even though she couldn't speak English and we weren't very good at Spanish. We hired a car from from a local firm which cost us £93 for 6 days. We went for breakfast to Castillo Centre (near Chipmunk Mountain or what's left of it) to the Parrott Restaurant that was ran by Barry and Barbara an English couple where we had full English breakfast for 5 Euros well worth a visit as they are a lovely friendly couple and the food is very good. All in all we had a lovely holiday even though the hotel was very disappointing. The last time we were at Caleta de Fuste was 4 years ago and it has changed a lot due to all the building work. We will go back there but definetly not to the Barcelo Hotel.
Superb Holiday at the Barcelo
The hotel itself is large, extremely clean and fantastic, the location couldn't be better, literally 2 minutes from the beach, although not the best beach on the island. You would need to go up to the north or the south. The pool areas were fantastic, there are two big pools and a children's pool. The pool next to the children's pool is heated to a certain degree. Not very warm but much warmer than the other pools. The food was excellent, we really couldn't fault the service in the restaurant or the quality of the food, although the deserts were pretty much the same every day. Whether you are in a couple, have kids, young or old, there is something for everyone at this hotel. The beach is a 2 min walk and you can rent 2 beds and a parasol for 7.50 Euros a day.It can get very windy on the beach, bearing in mind it is the windy isle. Entertainment at the hotel was suppose to be the best than any other Hotel, we didn't stay in the hotel of an evening much as we found a bar over the road which had happy hour 8.30pm-10.30pm buy one drink get one free, good value for money!! The resort is clean, and there is plenty to do for all types of party. It is quieter than the other islands, but there are plenty of bars to keep you entertained. You do hear aircraft flying over as the airport is only 10 mins away, but apart from the busy days (Weds & Sat) they hardly bothered us. Great to sit and watch them come in over the beach and around the pool in the daytime, but no flights at night. We would recommend this holiday to anyone, Fuerteventura is a great Island and Caleta ideal for a perfect relaxing holiday, no hesitation in going back again whatsoever.
