Jun 2008, Miss C Aulsberry

Have just returned today 28/06/2008 after two weeks at this hotel. food awful same thing most days fatty meat cold dinners lunch was best meal of the day and even that was not very good stayed all inclusive but eat out most days which says it all, bar amd waiter service so slow a really large hotel with three swimming pools and only one bar which if you were in block 3 was a good long walk, took two teenages , a baby and two adults early twentys they were bored stiff, did not find the entertainment very good either went out most nights. Good points of the hotel were the large rooms lovely swimming pool and plenty of sunbeds. Very expensive resort for even just the basics word of advice if you are travelling with a baby bring your own nappies as swimming nappies cost more then ten pound a pack and are just three pounds here. Will not be going back again.

Just Returnd from this Hotel 10th may after two weeks half board, this hotel is excellent, food very good, however restaurent at times can get very busy, read in previous reports that it was hard to find tables, the management at Barcelo may also have read this as they now show you to your table and seat you, and the pleasent profesional maner is always a nice start to any meal, service was fantastic, all meals and food very good with lots of choice, bed-rooms are spacious and clean, professional shows at night are good, animation team do try hard but not my cup of tea.
during our stay we were ask to complete a survey on the hotel, the only problem i had was that the ratings on the survey only went as high as very good which in my opion under-rate this hotel and the staff,if the survey had an excellent box marking i would have ticked every box, i think when the staff at barcelo are trained, they are not taught to say NO, nothing was ever any bother, not that we had any bother.
This is my 2nd time at this hotel and things just get better.
sure to visit again
VERY BIG THANK TO STAFF AND MANAGEMENT AT BARCELO FUERTEVENTURA

I have been to this hotel twice now...

I have been to this hotel twice now and enjoy it everytime! Food in restaurant is fantastic, I could easily have gone all inclusive. Rooms and pools are immaculately clean and well deserving of the 4* rating. On some of the reviews people have commented on the standard of service being the main downfall, i didn't experience this however i did on many occasions see guests being very rude to staff. I'm of the opinion that if you are polite and patient with the staff they are happy to go out of their way to do anything for you. My only dissapointment with Barcelo was that we were told we could have a courtesy room to take a shower etc on our day of departure as we weren't being picked up to go to the airport until late in the evening. When we went to use the courtesy room we were told it was no longer available and so us and many other guests departing that day had to use the showers in the gym to freshen up after the day of sunbathing!
Tip - Visit the Barcelo Paella Restaurant which is located about 5 minutes walk towards the harbour along the beach front - food is absolutely beautiful!

Just read other reviews all...

Mar 2008, Mr N Marshall

Just read other reviews all commenting on the standard of service in the restaurant. Staffing issues need addressing there as you had to prompt the few and already overworked waiters for attention regarding ordering drinks. Breakfast was difficult, especially finding a table ready for use. Ordering coffee was hard work too!! However the food was varied, tasty and interesting and the restaurant spacious and airey. The Hotel itself was beautiful and to a high standard. The rooms were great and a free bottle of bubbly was bought to our room for my girlfriend's birthday. Beyond the hotel past the castle (such as it is!) on the other side of the headland there is a rocky beach with a colony of chipmonks living within the rocks. Monkey nuts were available for a small price to feed them. Great amusement as they come right up to you and take the nuts from your hand! Good shopping area accross from the hotel but always barter with the shop keeper. I wanted sun glasses, saw some for 45 euros and got him down to 7 Euros!! All in all, great hotel but they need more restaurant staff for better ratings.

Just returned from a week at this...

Just returned from a week at this hotel - A lovely resort and a four star venue, but dissapointingly only three star service. Everything was as you would expext of a hotel of this calibre, the rooms were ok, as were the facilities. The let down was a distinct feeling of a hotel making cut backs and unfortunately this was reflected in the area`s that matter - the restuarant and reception. The restuarant was ran with the professionalism of a canteen and the food was often cold, lacking staff organisation and training. I would return to this resort but I`m off to the Elba Sara next time - all who stayed here on our flight had good service.
Sorry Barcelo, but if you want the good reviews, look to improving customer care and meet four star standards !

First class hotel! I am 24 and went with my 23 year old boyfriend it was a gorgeous hotel, very clean, lovely food and plenty of it!
Plenty of sunbeds no need to reserve them with your towels there’s so many! All the staff there really make an effort to keep everyone happy! They put a lot of effort into the night entertainment which was different every night and quite good.
There are plenty of shops on the resort and cheap car hire across from the hotel down to the right.( not the shop straight across from the hotel. The rooms are lovely had everything you need and very spacey!

My family and I have visited...

My family and I have visited Fuerteventura a number of times but felt the time was right to stay in the Barcelo Fuerteventura so what better time than to stay here for my wife and I's honeymoon.
The reception lounge and theatre bar area is massive with plenty of seats.

The pool area was big as well with three pools all of which, contrary to other reviews, were warm enough to step straight into. Loads of sun loungers and never had to place my towel down early, always ones available.
The restaurant was a good size and was only let down by the fact my family had to keep asking staff for drinks at breakfast and evening meals and certain foods, like the vanilla ice cream, kept running out and were only replenished when you approached a member of staff. Not a good enough service for a four star hotel restaurant in my opinion. I think this was down to staffing issues which we approached the manager about. Got a bottle of Champagne for our moans though! Food was nice with plenty of choice.
The rooms are by far the best we have stayed in. Huge bed, what must be a super king size, a good size sofa bed for our son, and a separate bathroom and sink area. All rooms are air conditioned which we took full advantage of as the temperature at night was at least 25 degrees. I found the key card a useful idea as well but disappointed that you couldn't leave your key card behind the reception.
Entertainment staff were very friendly, although after having participated in a few games myself, they did become hell bent on asking me to play everything. Just wanted to relax some days.
We would have given this hotel an 10 out of 10 but felt it let itself down by the restaurant service, maybe other people got A1 service during the two weeks we were there but we certainly didn't.
Despite this we would still very much recommend this hotel.

Situated a minute from the beach this hotel was worthy of its 4 Star rating.
Excellent facilities, spa, daily activity schedule, live show most nights.
Room well furnished, Minibar, TV sofa bed and air conditioning. Went for a week on an all inclusive basis represented good value for money.
Caleta De fuste is an up and coming resort situated 5 minutes from the airport. Although you are on the flight path to the airport flights generally stop late evening and recommence early the next morning therefore you tend not to be aware of the noise.
I would recommend that you do not book through a travel agent, book via the web and save yourselves lots of money. Most of the budget airlines now fly to Fuerteventura and the Hotels are so much cheaper booked online. The taxi fare to the resort of caleta de fuste is approx 10 Euros from the airport which is approx £7.00.

This was our second time at this resort and hotel, we enjoyed it so much with our two children that we decided to go back again this year and we will probably go back again next year!
What can I say really, everything was pretty much the same as last time. The hotel was lovely, food was great with so much choice and so many lovely puddings, the entertainment stuff are friendly, mind you I did get I bit annoyed with them keep asking me to join in with some daily activities, I ended up trying to hide behind my book!
The wild cats that are around the hotel and all friendly and have now mostly been neutered (each one has a nip on the ear if they have been done) and have a feeding area where you can put scraps if you want to.
We took a walk along the beach in the direction of the spa and found a shopping centre and a McDonalds! Didn't taste the same in my opinion.
We also took a day trip booked through First Choice to the Oasis Park, it took around an hour to collect everyone on the coach and get there. We imagined it would be just like a zoo, but it was a very scheduled day out and although the sea lion, parrot, reptile and birds of prey shows were excellent we were constantly watching the clock to meet up for the next show etc. Camel ride was good, they took us up the top of a mountain which had lovely views.
Can't think at the moment of anything else but I'm so happy we went there again and I'll be even happier if I knew we were going again next year!
ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!

I stayed at this hotel from the 29th August for 2 weeks. On arrival our first impressions were excellent, as we had had an early morning flight we arrived at the hotel at lunch time check in was efficient, however we were told that our room was not quite ready so was given a complimentary drink voucher to take to the bar whilst we waited.
Around 45 mins later we were able to get into our room and was pleasantly surprised most of all by the size, it was spacious, and the layout was good. All of the staff at the hotel throughout our stay were very friendly and worked extremely hard. We were on a half board basis and found the food great.
On arrival to the hotel you are given the option of upgrading to an all inclusive basis which we decided against. The other good thing was if on a half board basis you can swap dinner for lunch which we did a few times so we could try a few of the restaurants in the resort some evenings.
The pool areas were great and there were plenty of sunbeds available whatever time of day. The resort has got lots of shops, bars, and restaurants without it being too big!
The beach can be accessed from the rear of the hotel and although I am not one to go to the beach everyday it was also good.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, and will probably return!

This is a fantastic hotel, all the staff are friendly and the rooms are cleaned daily with clean towels and bedding.
The breakfast and evening meals are buffet style with a huge selection of food. There is plenty to do at the hotel; day time activities and night time entertainment.
The pool bar is great for snacks and drinks.
Costa Caleta itself is quiet and relaxed ideal for couples and families, would recommend Jandi or Corrajelo for singles and couples wanting a busy night-life.
