Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort Reviews
" LOVELY HOLIDAY "
Submitted By: karanbonThe complex has two pools one of which has entertaimnent most of the day such as organised water volleyball games, which my three boys loved. There is also a kiddies club there for the little ones. The staff were fantastic.
The location is very central about a 15 minute walk into town which is full of restaurants and bars.
We loved our holiday and can't wait to return to Paphos Gardens.

Submitted By: Mr X MacleodAt first we received daily towels for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) and then it diminished very quickly. We had to regularly contact reception for clean towels and when we got them, we only received 2 bath towels and 4 hand towels!!
When we complained to the rep, her response was that there was a water shortage and they were only changing towels every 2/3 days. We said that if the hotel management had told us about this we would not have kept chasing reception. However, they were taking the P*** by giving us 2 towels for 4 people every 2/3 days.
However, the position was excellent for walking into town. Good restaurants close by. We hired a car for 10 days so managed to get to many more restaurants that were further than walking distance. Staff were friendly but they were typical Greeks - order your food one hour before you get hungry!!
We used the main pool by the hotel which got very busy. Usual towels on sunbeds with no-one using them until after lunch (if they ever turned up). Good children's entertainment team.
Not sure we would go back but do not let this deter you from going as we never go back to a previous holiday spot but we would like to try the other parts of Cyprus (Ayia Napa or Protaras).
Top tip for visiting tourist sites. National Heritage sites are signposted in brown and good value for money. Other sites are purely there to make money. Would not recommend the Adonis Waterfalls for families.
Enjoy your trip to the Paphos Gardens Apartments, we did.

Submitted By: Mr Brian Baileyvery good local restaurants and bars lead you to bar street after 10 mins easy stroll and harbour another 5 mins further.
now the downsides - some of the apartments had dingy outlooks due to too many overlooking trees. (they seem to be obsessed with planting trees.)
we had one snack beside the large pool one afternoon and never again.
my toastie consisted of 3 slices of bread with bland cheese in between, the top of the top slice was slightly toasted and the rest of the bread was dry with no sign of heat getting anywhere near the cheese. absolutely tasteless. my wife ordered spaghetti bolognaise and what she received was a bowl of tasteless spaghetti with a cooked beefburger chopped up on top.
i have never seen so many cats in my life. both in the grounds and the resort itself, they were everywhere. so if you have any sort of aversion or dislike of cats, choose another resort.
we were at protaris last year and this year the food and drink was a lot dearer, eg a bottle of bud averaged 4 euro (£3.20 at the prevailing rate of exchange.)
all things considered if i did return to paphos i would not hesitate to book the paphos gardens again and i would go back to paphos if the cost of living over there came back down.

Submitted By: Mrs K HorslenOn the plus side it is in a good location, not far from beach, some very nice restuarants and bars. Plenty of hot water at all times of the day and night.
All in all we were very disapointed with this hotel, needs a lot of updating and refurbishment to bring it up to a decent standard, would think it is more 2 star than 3 star. Would not go back there again for free!

The maid service was Monday to Friday around 9:30am but they were great if we put the do not disturb sign on the door and always came back in the afternoon once we had emerged from the room.
Hotel itself I wouldn't recommend some members of our group wanted to have a look around as they are coming back next year to get married and they would not chose the hotel, the rooms were very dated and quite pokey, they preferred our lovely studio.
Entertainment was good although a little repetitive. The team were a good laugh though and got everyone envolved.
There are two very good pools, the main one at the hotel can get quite busy and noisy as that's where the entertainment team are with the kids club, however, the other pool in much quieter and relaxed. Both pools have a jacuzzi.
The studios and apartments are very spread out but the hotel staff have little extended golf trolleys to carry you and your luggage from door to door when you arrive.
The Paphos Gardens is a good location for walking into town on an evening, we tried many restaurants but the best was near to the hotel called Les Amis, oh and the new Colleseum which is near the hotel is good two, a little expensive but they do a three course set menu for just 15 euros. We did cook for ourselves a few times and found the kitchenettes very good. We even bought a couple of disposable BBQ's and enjoyed sitting out on the veranda with the cats. (Warning - if you don't like cats, probably not a good idea to come to Cyprus, as they love them and there are a lot of strays. I love cats and didn't mind them showing up most mornings for breakfast on our veranda.)
For a good bar down the strip I would recommend 'Black and Whites'. However, you will no doubt get pulled into most of the bars down there as the PR guys are quite persuasive with their buy one - get one free, plus free shot offers!!
We found there are plenty of karaoke places to go to and there was even a really good guy it the hotel twice a week, he was very funny and got everyone envolved also.
If you are going to hire a car while away, try to avoid Mary's, it's near the Paphos Gardens and although very cheap for a Vauxhaul Zafira that had only done 26000 miles, it really struggled to get anywhere. Any hills that we had to go up had to be done in first gear and sometimes even then it struggled, so we were a little dubious about the mileage on the car.
All in all we had an excellent time and would highly recommend the Paphos Gardens to anyone travelling to Cyprus.

Submitted By: Mrs J Goudieas we wanted a sleep in a few days and placed the dont disturb sign out the maids decided when it wasnt on they were cleaning the room anyway so we had to find them for towels toilet tissue etc. and fresh sheets.
we found the reception staff extemely rude and didnt believe a word they said as they say things to keep you happy
we also put all our grievances into the manager and our rep who both said they were dealing with them and would be intouch as you can guess were still waiting.
our rep had day trips advertised when we asked to book them she said they were cancelled due to storms that happened 2 weeks before we arrived but we went down the road to a shop called michaels (avensis) and booked the samr trips there for cheaper and had a fantastic time swimming at sea in coral bay the staff on the sea star sang and entertained us also they were fab.
we also asked to be directed to go karting the rep said she wasnt allowed to tell us for safety reasons again we went the track is huge and my 3 teenage sons loved it athat we went 3 times you can get there by free transfer.
what upaet me most about the holiday is i explained to the travel agent i wanted a holiday with a full entertainment package as i had 3 teenage sons and there was nothing for them there was no kids club as advertised it was easter holiday and the evening entertainment didnt match the programme if the programme said show time it ment the tv was on for the night the parrot show was on for 15 minutes the first week and never happened the next as advertised the only 2 good bits of entertainment was the hypnotist he was fantastic very funny and ensured it was kepted to a family show so kids could watch to. and rocky the entertainer did kareoke 3 nights aweek he involved everyone he did a quiz 1 night aweek also he got to know all the guests by name and remembered them.
the bar staff were fantastic they worked really hard and were fantastic with the customers.
the out door indoor pool was very clean but the gym was always busy as non residents could pay to used it also
this was my first and last time i visit this hotel as no one is interested in putting things right that are right
to top this holiday off i couldnt wait to get home and my flight was delayed by 22.5 hours then when we finally arrived in manchester the door wouldnt open for the luggage to come out so that just put the icing on the cake.

Submitted By: Mr T McCuddenApts were big and very clean & well run maid service was first class. All the staff were very friendly & helpful.
Entertainment at night average but that didn’t bother us, as we went out every night plenty of nice places to eat close by at reasonable prices. The harbour is a fantastic place to chill with a cold beer or glass of wine. Temp was 30-35c meltdown, air con is a must which was provided at no charge.
Only down side the beach's in Paphos are poor more shingle than sand! But we had 2 brilliant pools available, otherwise we would highly recommend Paphos Gardens.

Submitted By: Mr P HeyesHaving checked in at four in the morning we were escorted by a security guard to our superior studio apartment. She set up the air conditioning and checked that everything was ok. The apartment was clean and spacious. It had a large freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and was well stocked with crockery and cutlery. We had a few teething problems with the air conditioning in the bedroom which was included and the safe which was extra. These were dealt with extremely quickly and efficiently by Glyn the porter for who nothing was too much trouble.
Indeed this was the same with all the staff. They all worked very hard and went out of their way to make your stay special. Special mentions to the waiters and waitresses at the main bar and the hard working solo bartender****waiter****counsellor that ran the oasis pool bar.
There are two pools. We spent most of out time at the quieter one at the back of our apartments so cant comment on the day time entertainment in the main pool. The pool was very clean and there was an abundance of sunbeds with comfortable blue mattresses and quite a few sunshades. There is lovely relaxing jacuzzi area.
There was a basic evening entertainment programme which we attended three times. This is actually a glowing testimony from us we very seldom attend hotel entertainment. The hypnotist on the Thursday is a must and the guy who ran the karaoke made what is usually a dull experience for us a most entertaining one.
Despite being in a studio we were on bed and breakfast basis due to our transfer from Theofano. However due once more to a customer service shy Thomsons it had taken a fight for us to get the same amenities that we had booked. The breakfast was excellent with a large choice of stuff from the traditional English to cooked meats fruit and pastries. There was a chef cooking omelettes, pancakes and fried eggs to demand on a large griddle. He worked hard and I don't think he had a day off. He made the most exquisite fried eggs. The restaurant was by the main pool and it was great to be able to sit by the pool in the early morning sun eating breakfast and feeding the many cats. The cats aren't the usual feral type you encounter on the continent. They are semi tame are all appear to have their own territories. The two kittens who were abandoned by their mum almost stole the show from the hypnotist as people fussed round them to give them milk etc. We didn't use the restaurant at night but did pop in on Roast night and it all looked extremely edible. The feedback from guests that did eat there was extremely positive.
However, there are no shortage of eateries in a very short distance from the hotel. Michaels Taverna was our favourite for a traditional relaxing meal. The food at ZaZas was excellent but this was the one place where the service left a lot to be desired. Look out for the real live rabbit in the buggy at the entrance though. About a ten minute walk there are more restaurants, the best of which was Phivos who served up the biggest most delicious Banana Split I have ever had.
Bar Street which is the main entertainment area was about fifteen to twenty minutes away. We didn't make it into the heart of this. Near here for those with less discerning palates there is a Macdonalds, a KFC and a Pizza Hut. The harbour area is about a thirty minute walk but the buses are regular and it costs just 80 cents to go anywhere. The marina is pretty with a host of Fish Restaurants.
We would definitely recommend a visit to the market which wasn't the usual hustle and bustle of traditional market places. There are covered air conditioned stalls and plenty cafes to gets drinks and snacks. You catch a number eleven bus about a five minute walk away from the hotel.
The only downside, if you completely ignore Thomsons, was the maid service which was spasmodic and we had to ask for clean towels. However, these were dispatched almost immediately.
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We did not meet anyone who had anything but high praise for the place. It is in picturesque settings and you just feel like it's your own little piece of Paradise.
We would, however urge you to avoid Thomsons. Perhaps taking the advice of their own flight attendant and book with Thomas Cook next time.

Submitted By: Miss E L BulmerOur room was clean and included everything you would expect from a quality hotel. The staff were friendly, charming and helpful imbuing the place with the type of atmosphere usually only a family run business can provide. As for the pool, there is a choice of two. The main pool is set amongst beautiful horticulture and includes a jacuzzi and poolside bar that serves snacks. If you are lucky, main meals (breakfast and dinner) can be taken at one of the tables alongside the pool, we had breakfast there every morning and it really added to our holiday experience. There is also a smaller kidney shaped pool which is a bit smaller but often less busy, this too boasts a bar which serves delicious cocktails on an evening overlooking the prettily lit pool.
Whilst in Paphos we enjoyed days out at the water park which was great fun and the nearby archaeological dig which was fascinating though I would advise you to go at a cooler time of day.
Our week was over all too soon and we will definately be returning!

Submitted By: Mrs C HodsonWe stayed in a Superior Studio and there was plenty of room, big enough for 2 adults and 1 child (9). Kitchen has 4 electric ring, kettle, toaster, microwave, and small fridge. Rooms were cleaned daily (except Sat and Sun) and towels changed every day, linen twice a week.
After reading all the bad reviews regarding these Hotel/Apartments, we were very pleasantly surprised. Yes some of the apartments have not been refurbished yet, but everyone who stayed at the apartments with us during our holiday all had nice rooms. I do recommend that you book a superior studio or apartment as these are the ones that have been refurbished.
We had ants in the bathroom when we arrived on the sink and also the kitchen, but we spayed them with Autan and they did not return. We only saw one cockroach on the landing, other than that we never saw another again all holiday.
The pool in the apartments was fantastic, it doesn’t matter what time you get to the pool there is always a sunbed available. One morning they had problems with people reserving bed with towels so the staff removed them immediately and put them into a hotel room!! Serve themselves right!!
Weather was fantastic, although very humid, air conditioning is a must and was brilliant in the rooms and hotel bar.
The only down fall to this holiday was on arrival or welcome meeting they will introduce you to a man who will look after you if you have any problems with rooms etc, but he will tell you that he can save you money on your holiday package and ask you for a short meeting.
Unfortunately this is a time share!! We along with many more agreed to meet him and he takes you over to meet a salesman, who then spends the next 1.5 hours trying to sell you a time share. Then an American man is brought in and applies the pressure should we say.
We along with others told them point blank that we did not want to buy a holiday with them and the salesman was told to let us go! All I advise is that you don’t agree to the meeting (unless you want to buy an apartment) and you will have a fabulous time in Paphos.
The apartments are in a great place, as you walk into town you immediately came to the best restaurants, Le Amis, Za Za, and Zambezi which unfortunately was closing down on 4/8/7. The Mandarin Chinese is awful, worst Chinese we have ever tasted but as you go towards the harbour Chloe’s Chinese was fabulous.
If you are looking for a beach holiday you will be unfortunately you will be disappointed. The beaches are dark, dirty and the sea is full of seaweed. Everyone recommended Coral Bay, but we found this the same. Not good if you are a beach lover!
There is something for everyone in Paphos, families, young, old, we had a brilliant holiday and can’t wait to go back.

Submitted By: Mr AWe stayed on BB basis in the hotel. The buffet breakfast had a bit of everything and was fine and dandy; evidenced by the fact that we had no bouts of illness throughout the holiday!
The room was fine - all clean with a balcony overlooking the main pool, with fresh laundry on a regular basis.
We pretty much chilled at the pool all day... didn't do much else due to it being 40+ degrees everyday!
Went for dinner every night, and there are some nice restaurants on the road towards the beach. The two we tried was Les Amis and za-zas - both serving up quality food and very reasonably priced.
The places we tried in town weren’t up to much and were pricier. Paphos Gardens is really nice, set away from the main road.
They have entertainment by the pool which is a nice touch, but someone needs to buy them a new cd..... 7 days of agadoo and you'll think so too!
All in all, I’d recommend it and would definitely go again. We loved it there.

Advice: excellent holiday resort.
Activities: the colosseum which is littarly about 2minutes from the hotel
Good for: Beach
