Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort

We have just returned from a holiday at Paphos Gardens and we had a great time. We stayed at the Hotel on B&B basis and found it to be a really nice place to say. It is most suited to couples and families, with entertainment to keep kids occupied and great swimming pools. The hotel staff were very welcoming. Our only complaint was that hotel staff seemed to stand by while people put their towels on sun beds by the pool from early morning, so that unless you arrived by the pool by the crack of dawn, no sun beds were available (just the couple of broken ones!).
Paphos itself is lovely, if a bit too commercial. However, if you travel around the area a bit you can get away from all that and visit some lovely villages around Paphos. There is a great water park within walking distance from the hotel and the beach is only a 5 minute walk. Paphos Gardens is perfectly situated to be within walking distance of everything you want to get to. Also, all the best restaurants seem to be located on the road leading up to the hotel - I would recommend Zimbazi for great grills and steaks and Michaels for a brilliant Cypriot Meze. Our favourite restaurant of all was a Greek and Cypriot Tavern on the same road called Ano Kato - run by locals, it serves the best local food around and is half the price of other more commercial places. There is also great live Greek music there on Friday and Saturday nights.
One warning - stay well away from the people who go around Paphos looking for British couples. They give you scratch cards, tell you that you have won something brilliant and then say that you have to go to a nearby hotel to claim your prize. Then they subject you to a sales pitch lasting nearly two hours (a time share deal). Unfortunately we fell for it and so did a lot of other couples. Just say that you are not interested when they approach you.
Otherwise we had a fantastic 2 weeks and we would definitely recommend Paphos and Paphos Gardens to anyone.

Our overall impression of this hotel complex would have been excellent if it had not been for the accommodation we were allocated.
The apartment was not very clean and had a lot of maintenance issues. The furniture and decor was extremely dated. One of the adults in our party had to sleep on a camp bed, which was not very secure. We found this to be the only down fall of the hotel. I would advice any one who is thinking of booking into this hotel to book a superior room to avoid any disappointment. On the plus side the hotel does have a lot going for it, the location is superb, 20 mins from the airport, 2 minutes from bus stops and local restaurants and a five minute walk takes you right in to the centre of the town and harbour. If self-catering there is a shop right on the complex with good opening times.
The best feature the hotel possesses is the entertainment staff. They worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone was enjoying themselves, from the kids to the adults. There was always plenty of activities going on through out the day and on a night time there was doddering entertainment to keep you happy, from a fantastic Karaoke to local Greek dancing.
The entertainment staff really made a difference to us on this holiday and because of them we will return back to Paphos gardens in the near future, ( in a superior room though this time). The restaurant in the hotel had a different theme every night ranging from local traditional cuisine to carvery nights. The food was of a great standard and plenty of different dishes to choose from. Always a fresh salad bar and a selection of fruits, desserts and cheeses on top of the main courses and starters.
The breakfast on a morning was equally as good and again with a wide variety. I would definitely recommend this hotel but as said before if going self catering I would only stay in a superior room, which of course are more expensive, but are very clean and have excellent facilities.
