All Around Amazing
from loopyloo40
My husband and I stayed at the Paphian Bay for 10 days in March 2007 and wished we'd booked longer. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool and the sea as standard and this was furnished and equipped perfectly. We had tea making facilities which were amply refreshed daily, a non-ending supply of liquid soaps, shampoo, conditioners and body lotions in wall dispensers and ironing facilities with a real ironing board and steam iron. Towels were also provided for the pool and beach (not hard old hotel ones, lovely big blue fluffy ones). The food was out of this world. We have stayed in many 4 and 5 * hotels in the past and been very happy with what we had been given but all were surpassed by this hotel. The chef takes great pride in his work and patrols the dining room - he must have sore hands constantly as so many people were moved night after night to shake his hand. In fact, all management were to be seen in their own areas at all times and all were very "hands on", mixing with the guests and getting to know people personally. The overall Manager even held a cocktail party on the Saturday to introduce everyone and encourage people to mix.It only took a couple of days to know everyone by name and to have them treat you like old friends. Indeed, virtually every guest we met was returning to the hotel sometimes for 10th or 15 th time. A special mention here goes to Andreas and his team in the bar who we became particularly fond of. A lovely lot indeed. Entertainment was confined to lounge bar which had a dance floor and consisted of either a different local band or singers nightly, together with a cabaret midway through the evening. Not at all hi de hi. To sum up, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, especially to persons in our age group (50's). It was more than comfortable, friendly, in a safe environment and excellent value for money. I certainly will be winging my way back there as soon as possible.
Paphos is fantastic

You can not go wrong by booking to stay here. We decided to pick here by reading other holiday reviews and we are so glad we did. The staff are extremely polite and cannot do enough for you and the place is spotless. The waiters in the bars are a laugh as they get to know you and remember you tipple. We had a drink in the 'Sherlock Holmes Bar' at night before going out for a late meal and we had it to ourselves as other guests preferred the 'big screen' room (World cup was on), and we made use of the happy hour 19.00-20.00. The pool area is great with a separate pool for the kids and all you do is walk through the gardens to get to the beach which was always spotless. You also have towels provided. You can certainly put weight on here if you don't watch your calorie intake (who does on holiday though!!!); at breakfast they do gorgeous deep fried streaky bacon, which goes great with the cheese pie that they do every day and beans. Hubbie got a bit addicted to bacon butties and only put '1 Ib' on in weight. There is so much choice for breakfast that you can stay for 10 nights and not have the same meal twice. We also had a couple of evening meals at the Hotel which were well worth the money (they put a leaflet on the breakfast tables if there is something special on and you just sign it and put your room number on and give it to reception). One was a 'BBQ' night which was extremely tasty as again there is a mountain of choice and more sweets than you can eat. We went B&B but in reception there was a poster saying that if guests wanted to convert to 1/2 board for 7 nights they could and only pay for 5, which was a good idea. The shop in the Hotel is well priced too as some can really rocket the prices up. If you like red wine, try the 'Othello VINTAGE red wine' is beautiful, if you are a red wine drinker like me. There are plenty of buses to get you to the Harbour, Paphos and Coral Bay. You pay a fixed price ticket. The market in Paphos is only open until about 12.30 and the stalls are great to wonder round. If you like a drink of Alcohol there is a shop on the outskirts of the market where prices were very reasonable. The Hotel is right between bus stops so if you turn right from the Hotel this stop is least busy and slightly nearer. Taxis are always around and beeping you on this road as there seems to be the most largest and expensive looking of Hotels in Paphos on this road (the Taxi's are all white Merc's). ‘’’’BE WARNED’’’’ If you get stopped by English men and women on scooters/mopeds just carry on walking and say ‘already been thanks’, for the simple reason they will follow you down the street and give you scratch cards and there is a 99% chance you will have first prize. It was on a holiday programme this year where companies get you to go look at ‘timeshare’ like places and get you to sign on the day and pay out money and you get nothing, they are a big con so PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE PEOPLE. For excursions, don’t pay the holiday rep prices as we went down the road and booked all our excursions and we saved about half the price, the same with car hire, I looked at booking from home before we went and it was half the price if you booked in Cyprus. The jeep safari is a must and opts for food included as you get allsorts with wine as well. We all got a bit light headed which made the trip even livelier. You also go to Lara Bay and see the turtle nests which were good. North Cyprus was a good day out as well; you need your passport for this as you have to go over the border. It is worth going just to see how different it is to southern Cyprus. A day trip to Limasol also includes a tour and taster at KEO, they sit you round a table with crisps and loads of bottles of wine/beer for you to taste and the prices work out cheaper than in the shops. Cannot think of much more to say, other than if you read this and do decide to go to Paphos I hope you have as good as time as we did. I would have given it 10/10 if the Hotel was nearer the Harbour but then you would be looking at double the price.

My partner and I stayed in the Paphian Bay Hotel in Paphos Cyprus in September this year. I have to say I was really pleasantly suprised, I thought the overall accomadation and the facilities at this hotel were fantastic. All of the staff were very helpful and went out of there way to help us whenever they could. I would throughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in what is a very beautiful part of the world. And at night when they hold a disco at the beach bar its just like being in the caribean without the mozzies! We did not spend a fortune on this holiday and I think we got alot more than we paid for, this was a four star hotel at two/three star prices I was very impressed.

First visit to this hotel although been to Paphos before. Very impressed with the overall upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Always smiling even when under pressure. We stayed B & B and were very impressed with the choice of food available for breakfast. Lovely to eat your breakfast outside by the pool with the sea in view. Salad bar at lunchtime was always fresh and tempting. Plenty of sunbeds to go round and shady spots if required under the palm trees. Location ideal for us as we didn't want to be in the midst of it all. Would say not ideal for families which pleased us immensley as we wanted a relaxing, peaceful, quiet holiday. Our first holiday without the children. Majority of age group 35 and upwards so no rowdy evenings. Would be nice if the bar in the evening could serve later than midnight though. The only let down overall for us was the uncomfortable bed. Mattresses require upkeep as well as the rest of the hotel. Had the bed been suitable the whole holiday/hotel would be definitely classed as excellent. Will go back next year without a doubt.
Great Hotel

We Spent a week at the Paphian Bay during early July. This is a very nice hotel, the public areas are excellent although the inside bar could do with an Air-Con unit as it was far too hot for a night cap, but there again there is an outside bar so its not a huge issue. The Gardens are well laid out with plenty of sun beds, brollies and trees. A Little tip though.. Try to get a bed right on the front next to or on the beach as at least there is SOME breeze there. There is a handy little shop on the bottom floor for supplies, surprisingly water is about 1/4 of the price that it is in the Hotel Bars!! The Hotel is about 45 Minutes walk, along the road, from the harbour but there are buses and taxi's available. There is some nice restaurants and bars on the walk into town, pretty well every taste is catered for we ate everything from Greek to Italian, Indian and Chinese. Missed the Brazilian though :-( On the whole, highly recommended, away from the bustle of the town and in an fairly good location too.

The previous review sums the hotel up well. It was very clean and very quiet. The pool area was very nice with plenty of sun loungers. I think even during the summer there would be plenty as I saw lots stored at the side of the hotel. There is a beautiful grass area with palm trees if you prefer some shade. I travelled with my mum and young sister and found it a plus that the hotel is popular with older couples. It's true it was nice not to have loud music etc. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I must mention the "animator" Sonya who was so cheerful and tried so hard to make sure the guests had a good time. During the beginning of our stay, my sister (6) came down with the flu and had to spend three days in bed. Sonya tried so hard to cheer her up, visitng our room with colouring books etc. We also booked online and were a bit nervous, but we had a really good time. We hope to return again next year!
Very nice place to stay

We stayed at the Paphian Bay for a week from 8 April 2006 and really enjoyed our holiday. We were in the indoor pool early every morning and had it to ourselves! The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I agree that the bathroom was a bit small, but not small enough to bother us. The bath was full size. Also, the hotel next door is almost finished and we were not bothered by any noise. They have very high screens up to stop any dust. They were busy sorting out the path in front and clearing the beach towards the end of our visit. We enjoy walking, so we did not mind the 45 minute walk into Paphos. (Along the coastal path). However, there is a bus stop only one minute walk along the main road and the buses go either to the market or to the harbour. Adequate local shops are about five minutes walk away, together with a few restaurants. We stayed half board and the food was excellent at both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of choice and very well presented. The buffet is constantly refreshed and very hot. The gardens were looking lovely for our stay and the grounds and pool were very well looked after. Drinks in the VIP bar were all half price between 7.00 and 8.00 pm but I don't know whether this will always be the case. On the Thursday night, the Management held a short cocktail party where they all introduced themselves to their guests. Everyone was offered a free brandy sour or fruit juice. If you return to the hotel, you are entitled to a discount off all drinks. We went on the Cyprus Uncorked and Northern Cyprus tours and they were excellent.

Nice 3 star hotel. Stayed on a half-board basis and both breakfast and dinner had a wide choice of (buffet) food, although limited for anyone who doesn't eat meat. Quality excellent. Rooms OK but bathrooms very small. However this is the first hotel of any standard that I have been in, in many years of worldwide travel, with two excellent and different shower heads over the bath. Great! Downside? a) Remote location, 1km from nearest restaurants and shops and 2 miles from Kato Paphos (the harbour). Gardens and pool looked nice but we could not enjoy them because of the very cold and windy weather. All staff very friendly especially Andreas in the VIP bar. In winter the vast majority of the clientele are elderly folk and there is very little to appeal to the younger ones and children. There are no local facilities for them. b) Another hotel is being built right next door starting work at 7.00am. Some noise, but I can expect that when the landscaping starts there will be a huge noise and dust problem, as the wind blows straight to the Paphian.
Lovely hotel!

Our second visit to Hotel Paphian Bay was (again) wonderful. Breakfast and dinner are both excellent. We hope to come back in the near future!

I stayed at this hotel in April 2005 with a friend. It was her sister's wedding and it was fabulous! The hotel treated the bride and all the guests like royalty (especially the waiters and baggage boys!!). Me and my friend will be going back next year....the best thing about going back is the discount - previous visitors are presented with a discount card! Can't wait to see friends that we made! Overall, fantastic service, facilities and area! Definitely recommended!

A nice friendly hotel, wouldn't recommend for the younger generation, definately for the over 60's. Rooms are clean, but the bathrooms very small. The hotel is in need of an update, which I believe they are going to do this year. Food was good for a 3 star, I think is was... more
