After a disastrous experience at Jardins de Paris in Montemarte, we were directed to this hotel by the local tourist information centre. The rooms were very large, clear, with interesting views. It's incredibly close to the metro stop. The breakfast food was nice and... more

good place for most people
We just spent 8 nights . The room was very clean and fairly new. The hotel is in a diverse neighborhood but we always felt safe. There is nothing to do except eat. There are several places to eat nearby and about half have english descriptions on the menu. No entertainment whatsoever beyond very interesting people watching. The hotel breakfast was included in our price and was very good. It was a buffet with ham, cheese, breads, rolls, juices, yogurts, coffee, jams and the like ( nothing was warm/cooked). The staff was very helpful. Two issues may present a problem for some: the rooms are tiny, very small, as are the bathrooms and the Hotel is located at the top of a very steep hill. The size of the room did not spoil our stay despite the fact we are tall people. The hill was a pain when you returned after a long day of touring. An older person or someone with physical limitations will probably want a different hotel due to the steep hill. The Metro is a couple of blocks away as is the RER railroad station( both named Porte de Clichy) Check out the RER as it is more comfortable and far less crowded, we used it to go directly to D'Orsay and Eiffel Tower. We also used it to go to Versailles cheaply and quickly.
the best hotel for budget travellers
i guess it's the best hotel for budget travellers. the room is quite small but you're not gonna spend the whole day in the room anyway. it's clean. quite comfy. customer-relation is excellent. i strongly advise for those coming to paris to stay there.
New but very basic budget hotel
Room was facing the motorway around Paris, very noisy. Just one very uncomfortable chair. Everything was in good working order. Neighbourhood not exactly the best. Breakfast at EUR 7 was actually better than I had expected. Easy to get into Paris centre. Good for budget travellers I guess.
Great hotel for those on budget
I stayed at this place by myself for a few days and I was very pleased. They were having a summer offer so I paid only €49 a night, which is a steal for Paris. I arrived much later than I hoped because my plane was very late. When I did arrive at the hotel, I was exhausted and just wanted to get to my room. The staff was very polite and the woman I spoke to was quite eager to speak English, which was a relief for my tired brain, and I was checked in very quickly. The room was very clean and quiet. I was on the 9th floor and had an amazing view, the Eiffel tower, Arc d’Triomphe, Tour Montparnasse, and the dome of Invaildes. I didn’t ask for a room with a view but was very glad that I had one. I didn’t find the room to be small, at least not by Paris standards; it was about average size for Paris. If you are more used to more rural places or North American hotels, you would probably think it is small, but not for a big European city like Paris or London. There was A/C, which was great because it was boiling in Paris when I was there! It is away from a lot of the tourist attractions, but it has good links with the RER and metro so you can be pretty much anywhere else in the city in short time. The neighbourhood isn’t the nicest in Paris, but I felt safe walking around by myself as women at night. If you want to stay in the nicer neighbourhoods, you will pay a lot more than I did here, and you probably won’t have as nice of a room for a much bigger price. There were plenty of restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores so there are many dining options. I didn’t have any problems getting to the hotel. I checked out the easiest way to get there on the RATP website after seeing some other reviews. It is a bit complicated to get there from Gare du Nord or CDG airport, but after you get off at the Brochant metro station, you can’t miss the hotel. There is a sign pointing you in the correct direction soon as you reach the surface and then signs pointing the rest of the way. I would stay there again.
Excellent value stay & location in Paris !!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Ibis Berthier Porte de Clichy on the weekend of 17th June. If you are travelling in from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Gare du Nord, then getting to the hotel can be tricky at the first attempt, but after arrival the rest is so easy... The hotel provides excellent access to the centre of Paris, by both the Metro and the RER systems. The area that the hotel is located in we found to be safe and quite active day and night. There are many bars and restaurants, including chinese nearby, and all very reasonable. The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean. The breakfast is of a continental nature but provides variety and is very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. the hotel has many facilities, including a health club and swimming pool. I paid a total bill of just over 300 Euro for 4 nights stay including breakfast. The room was only around £44 a night, which is excellent value for a city, let alone Paris. I always use IBIS Hotels when in Europe and the IBIS Berthier will be my base now whenever I come to the city...
Okay but...
On completion of our European coach tour my wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (as did the rest of our tour party). Opinions and comments regarding our brief stay are listed below: Negatives: 1.The double room was a tad small. 2.The shower and toilet area was really small (a larger framed person would find him/her self somewhat uncomfortable whilst others may feel a bit claustrophobic). 3.The Hotel layout initially created some navigational issues for us (we weren’t the only folks who got lost) 4.Due to the size of the hotel and the large amount of guests, breakfast time created long queues, and those that managed to get food often had to wait for a table or eat where they stood. Needless to say the buffet breakfast was not a great experience. Positives: 1.Room was clean and tidy the bed was comfortable. 2.Breakfast included in cost. 3.Hotel staff and reception were helpful and friendly. 4.The Hotel is situated off main road resulting in minimal traffic noise. 5.Handy to transport services and local shopping areas 6.Laundromat is situated close by. Overall: When we first arrived, a large number of tour buses were already disembarking their passengers; obviously coach tour companies use this hotel as a stopover for the budget arm of their tours. If this is still the case, get to breakfast early to avoid long qeues. The Ibis Paris Berthier is not too far from the touristy sights with taxi and bus services close by. If you prefer cheaper meals the restaurants and food bars situated along the main street are adequate. This hotel is okay for the budget minded, no fussed traveller who is primarily in Paris to see the sights of this extraordinary city and to experience its unique charm.
Never again!
I'll never stay at the Ibis Porte de Clichy again, if I can help it! Tiny, suffocating room & bathroom, with very little room for luggage or clothes. Breakfast was nothing to write home about either. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.
Budget hotel
Just back from a trip to France. Stayed here the first night. We arrived around 1pm but the room was ready & so we were able to check-in & go up to our room. Maybe because we were part of a tour group we got a real good room or maybe because we were 3 of us, the room was real nice & big enough for the 3. After reading a few older reviews, we had requested a room with the Eiffel Tower view but wasn't promised one coz we were 3 & the agent wasn't sure if there were any rooms on that side. Although we didn't get a room with the view we were able to step out & there was a nice window/balcony area from where we could see the tower. The area was far from a ghetto...it felt real safe even late at night & we did get back at 10pm there were other members of the tour group, mainly women who came later & said the same about the area. Ate lunch at a turkish restaurant & found the owner/cook/chef real helpful. He spoke some english & was real helpful with what we wanted to eat. The food was good too. Later on our way back from the metro, which is walkable distance, everything was closed, the few that were open were cleaning up & winding down for the day. But when we approached a "butcher" shop he was willing to open up & sell us a rotiserrie chicken. The same happened at the "patiserrie", bakery where we asked for a baguette & he too opened up & got one...he was not even interested in taking any money, although we left the money on his counter & said "merci" & walked back to the hotel, where the ramp was tough walking up after the jet-lag & our trip to the city. The next day we thought the b'fast began at 7:30am but it began earlier & so when we reached the room almost everything was gone including coffee cups. Luckily there were 2 buffets laid out & between the 2 we were able to get to start the meal by when the waiters were in the process of replenishing. Since we were 3 in the room the bathroom was fairly sized unlike the single rooms where people had to squeeze into a small room & bathroom. Next time if I have to stay in this area then there was another IBIS on the main street & so would consider that if I was looking for a budget hotel.
Ideal Ibis
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from the 18th March. We arrived at the hotel about 3pm had a speedy check in and were out in the city by 3.30, hotel staff were brilliant I speak no french but this made no difference their english was great and they were more than happy to help. This was our first time in Paris and next time we go we'll stay at this hotel, it was unbelievanle for the price. Hotel room was small but your never in it to notice anyway, maid service everyday and if you get an Eiffel Tower view its beautiful. Breakfast was great typically continental but plenty of choice. As long as your not looking for luxury and just a base to see a wonderful city then this hotel is ideal
buget class and nothing more
I've just returned from an eight day Europe trip with a large group and we spent two nights at this hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were a bit disapointed by the surronding area that resembled, for lack of a better word a ghetto. The room was extremely cramped and the bathrooms tiny, which made it difficult when sharing a room with someone else. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly, but the cramped rooms, up hill climb, and the fact that you could hear other people talking through the pipes in the bathroom ruined the experience for me. Next time I stay in Paris I will definatly find a difrent hotel.
