the best staff
overall a typical ibis - consistent cleanliness of room, amenities, etc. what was unique about this hotel was the incredibly helpful staff - they simply took over for us when we ran into a problem with a difficult private vendor. the hotel manager made it his goal to straighten out the mess and work as our advocate, and he was ultimately successful. all very helpful when one is struggling with communicating in a foreign language! the attitude of the entire staff seemed to be one of customer service and helpfulness - very unique compared... more
Good value for the money
I started checking the trip advisor's travel reviews a month before I was planning to go to Paris. I might have read the reviews for more than 50 hotels but finally settled for Ibis Grands Boulevards Opera mainly for the rate (69 euros/night). I was travelling with my wife and an infant daughter and I was certainly pleased with the hotel room. If you are just looking for a nice hotel at a budget rate, then I would certainly recommend this hotel. But if you are more keen on big lobby, amenities, service, etc then this is not for you.<br... more
Beware of Internet booking in this hotel
I booked a double room from 16-20 Sept, 2006 at Ibis Grands Boulevards Opera, Paris through the online booking website on 23rd July from India . I received a confirmation for July 23-24 (one night) (booking # A5O-02WG). I called up the hotel on phone on July 24th about this mistake of your online system but my credit card was already charged for 1 night. The hotel sent me an email stating that they can not help me now. I have 2 questions: 1. Why I would book for the same date when I am in India that time?? 2. I can prove that... more
Bad experience
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during the Paris Air Show. The hotel is at a very convenient location, a few minutes from the next metro station. The area is lively at day and night (though most people seemed to be tourists like me :-), I felt safe. The location and a relatively good price (for a hotel with air condition in the center of Paris) were the only things I liked about the hotel. I got a very small room on the last floor. The elevator doesn't go here, you have to climb one flight of stairs. The air condition unit... more
Nice location, good prize
We just came back from Paris for a nice weekend. And couldn't be better. The location of this hotel is great. 5 minutes walking to Grands Boulevards, lots of restaurants and brasseries around (don’t bother with breakfast). Bus stops and Metro stations (Le Pelletier, Grands Boulevards) nearby. The room was small and tidy and toilet very clean. Very thoughtful from staff to turn on heaters in the bedroom and toilet after unexpected climate change. It worth the price!
IBIS - there is some comfort in the sameness
This is a typical IBIS Hotel. Not posh or even unique, but clean and dependable. The rooms are of average size with most of the amenities (except a hair dryer). I found the staff helpful and pleasant. The buffet breakfast for 6.50 Euro was a good deal with sufficient choice and quantities. The hotel is two short blocks to the nearest Metro Le Pelletrie and an 10 minute walk to Opera. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The famous bistro Le Chartier is just a block away. The hotel offers fair value for a fair... more
A bed a four walls what else would you want for the price
Ibis Grands Boulevards Opera is I would say slightly above average for an Ibis hotel, sure its no frills and the concerge doesn't open the door for you and there's no bed turning down service, but what do you want for 80 euros a night, no questions asked. To me the hotel is abit like the advert for wood varnish, it says what it does on the tin, and that's exactly what you get with this hotel, you get a good firm bed and there's walls and even a wake-up call if you ring down and ask politly (in English). The location was adequate,... more
We liked it!
We have just spent a couple of pleasant nights at this hotel. It is very well located within 10 minutes walk of the Paris Opera, the big shops, CDG airport buses, and the red tourist buses. It's also near three main-line railway stations, and plenty of metro stations and bus stops. Right outside the hotel (which has no restaurant) there are plenty of bars, caf?s, restaurants (Chez Leon-Tunisian-very good) and small shops. The nearby streets were very lively at night but appeared to be safe. The hotel room was clean, warm, spacious and... more
Very bad experience
My husband and I had paid for a double room for 4 nights o stay in the Alexandra Hotel well before. We arrived at the hotel at 12pm and the hotel staff told us that the room was not ready until 3:00pm. So to save time, we left the luggage and the hotel voucher with the staff then we went off for sight-seeing around city. We came back to the hotel at 10:30pm and hoped to have a hot shower at once. But unfortunately, the staff told us there was a problem with the room arrangement. They only had a small room with a single bed & could not... more
good choice at great price
The Alexandra is a fine place to stay at an excellent price. The air-conditioned rooms were spacious, although the furnishings were kind of stark. (they almost look like attic apartments without too much furniture.) Bathrooms were big with the oh-so-European hand-held shower nozzles. The hotel's breakfast room served a good continental breakfast with plenty of croissants, pastries, fruit and fresh OJ (a welcome relief from the stale rolls and orange water we endured in London.) THe hotel is situated not too far from the Opera... more
