have you got kids?????

Aug 2011, graham and gemma

Then this is definately the place for you, Me my Fiancé, mam and dad went for a 10 day holiday to the pafian sun, it wasnt quite what we expected but let me tell you how our holiday was:
Rooms: The rooms are basic but not at all bad, then again im not fussy i only use the room to get showered and changed in. My mam on the other hand says she would not see it as a 4* hotel, it was more of a 3 star. I have to agree too, like i say it was nice. On 3 occassions we had "visitors" join us, (COCKROACHES) this can obviously not be helped as they are in the country and are all over just a friendly warning in case ya scared of them like gemma was. The aircon is not above the bed which i found silly but again that is just personal preference. The Tv in the room does not work at all so prob best taking a small dvd player if you do decide to stay in the room.
Staff: The staff are great all of them do their best to help you, the best one in my opinion was Liama in the quiet pool bar, she was always laughing, smiling and chatting to us she is a star. The maids are friendly and always greet ya they make the beds every day and change the towels 2 times a week. they even folded gemmas pjs up and placed them on the bed for her. we left valubles in the room unlocked and nothing went missing, not a penny.
Entertainment: Entertainment was for 3 - 9 yo kids NO ONE ELSE. it was a disaster i was bored stiff and this is what i would say was the major negitive to all of our holidays, our ages were 26, 27, 49 and 54 and we hated the entertainment. In the large pool they have water aerobics, water balls, volleyball, snorkling and quizes throughout the day along with music. In the quiet pool we had music, that was until a old bat said she could not read and it was a quiet pool she wanted it switching off, this happened. The next day however she got a good ol row with my mam and another lady from down south that she backed down and the music was put on but not very loud! If you do not have kids, DO NOT BOOK this hotel as you will be dissappointed.
Food: The food was brilliant, breakfast hosts everything from friut, cereals, hams and cheeses to full english, taost, coffee and tea to crepes with coclate sauce. Afternoons have a selection of salads, to hot food all nice and there is a kiddies section if ya are fussy there is chips on everyday. Might meals have a different theme everynight and is just lovely, there is no one in the world more fussy with food than gemma and shes even says the food was great. One thing to be wary of is the floors as they can get slippery 3 people slipped while i was there which is a bit embarassing.
Drink: There is a slight problem with the drink, you can only get 2 drinks at any one time no matter how many is with you at your table. Unless ya get on with the staff, they will at times allow 3 but never ever any more. The drinks are served in plastic cups but then again there isnt many all inclusives nowadys that doesnt do this round pool areas. Inside you can get glasses but they cant be taken out.
Location: The location is not at all perfect youre miles away from anything and have to get on the bus to either coral bay or 2 busses to get into paphos town. Theres not much in any of these places again if you dont have kids and are looking for a party dont book paphos at all, pratarus or iyanapa would be more suited for you.
In conclusion, if you have kids or are looking for a quiet (nearly dead) holiday then this is a place for you, if not dont book it, all considered i wouldnt be going back to paphos again as it is more for families with young kids or crinklies (as i would call them), it definately wasnt the hotel it was the location that spoiled it.
Hope this helps and enjoy!

We stayed at the pafian sun for a week, from the 14th - 21st. It was brilliant. The rooms were clean, we had a sea view which was beautifull. The entertainment of a day and night was fantastic, the team really do work very hard. Anna, Claire, Katy & Chris are the main ones i found and they work really hard. A different show each night we were there from popstars to las vagas night. Brilliant. Thoughtout the day there was waterpolo, water arobics, quiz and head to head challenges with the reps. there is also a kids club but being 21 i didnt use that.
The food was very nice, the selection was great, they even have a kids corner. They have themed nights for example chinese night and italian night. a full english breakfast is placed on of a morning along with cereals, juice, toast and around half 12 there is a meal aswell. Going all inclusive all our food and drink was free. The beer there was carlsberg or keo but there was also sprits and cocktails there too.
The room was cleaned twice while we were there throughtout the week but that was our faults as we put the do not disturb sign up otherwise would of been done more.
Everyone there is very very friendly and the Rep Stephen is very helpfull. I read a few things about another rep called stacey but we didnt deal with her.
There were lots of trips orgainsed by them but we only went on one the night under the stars, fantastic!
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting paphos. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you to the harbour or the markets at just euro per time.
I have been to cyprus before and definatly enjoyed myself alot more this time round.
Brilliant!

ive just returned from a one week holiday at the pafian sun and had a lovely ole time!
Me and my friend were abit dubious about the hotel after reading some reviews on here but when we arrived we were pleasently surprised. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were very friendly and accomodating, when we booked (a week before) we booked a twin room but when we arrived a double room had been booked, the reception staff were very appologetic and said if we wanted we could have another bed put up in the room for the first night then in the morning we could be moved to a twin room, which we did and in the morning they moved us to a lovely room with an amazing view.
the rooms were spacious yet basic so probably not quite 4 star rating. The food which you normally expect on an all inclusive holiday to be quite basic was in fact delicious and every night there was a wide selection of different types of food from salads to cheese boards to a wide selection of good cuts of meat,it was a nice relief to have good food to eat and the breakfast was lovely aswell with many things to choose from, full english to cereals to pancakes, very satisfying.
The entertainment team were very good aswell getting everyone involved during the day and evening.
All in all we had a very lovely holiday and would deffinately return there in the future. And one last thing-the weather was out of this world,at least 35 everyday so if youre looking for a relaxing yet entertaining holiday with delicious food and all the drink you can imagine then this is the holiday for you. And all the people that slated this hotel for ridiculas things like having to drink out of plastic cups or not enough sunbeds then maybe you should have a re-look at your sorry little lives!

This was a real mixed holiday. The food was of a good standard but I did have food poisoning 4 days after returning home but it could have been from another source, however would be interesting if anyone else has been poorly?
The floors in and out of the building were very slippery, an accident waiting to happen
The standard of the rooms, clean but dated and not 4 star. Sun bed saga, read other reviews and agree a nightmare but there were just not enough for the people staying on holiday. Staff were not very welcoming but Thomas cook entertainment team worked very hard to keep everyone amused.

Where do i start. Just returned from a long week at this hotel, which is no way a 4 star, is more like a 2. Staff very rude and not friendly. if you like to drink from PLASTIC cups all day & night, this is the hotel for you. too many lager louts, fight between northerners most nights, this place is a Cyprus Butlins.
Hotel described as near the beach, this is mis-leading, as there is a nice small cove, but main beach a bus ride away.
Two positives... food very nice, rooms also good.
Hotel on a main busy road, difficult to cross as the cars fly down it day & night.
Sunbeds... be prepared to follow the other ignorant holiday makers and get up at 5.30 a.m otherwise you will NEVER get a sunbed or more importantly shade.
Pathos itself was nice, the Aphrodite water park was an excellent day out.
No entertainment for teenagers.
To sum up.... book a different Hotel!

Just returned this Tuesday ( 27 Jul 2010 ) after two weeks, all inclusive, at Pafian Park Holiday Village between Pafos and Coral Bay in sunny, sunny Cyprus
Hotel is unusual in the fact that it is built in blocks of two storey buildings with 8 rooms to a block - most of the blocks surround the pool area which is large with a separate area for kids to do their own thing, although with everyone throwing their inflatables as well as themselves into the water it can get a little cramped and although not heated, because of the marvellous weather the pool water can feel like a warm bath by mid afternoon. The rooms are OK but could do with a bit of updating although the maid service was excellent. The food was plentiful with at every meal a large selection of hot and/or cold food which was in the main good but in week 2 it did become somewhat samey and we found that we had to go to Phafos to eat a couple of times just to break it up ! Staff were polite and helpful. If their is a problem with this hotel then it is the location - as it is a bus ride or taxi ride from either Phafos or Coral Bay - buses are plentiful ( every 20 mins ) but be warned - go early morning to the stop as it is a 10 minute walk in the burning sun later in the day ! Apart from a couple of kiosk shops there is nothing other than apartments surrounding this hotel so it is a good job there is an animation team on board to entertain during the day ( Archery, darts, aqua aerobics, water polo and more ) and in the evening with various shows ( I do not think Vegas has anything to fear ) on most nights from Magician to singers and two rounds of bingo bongo everynight at 10 pm - the calling of the numbers is not speedy ( in fact extremely slow ) and they are not very good at getting the numbers correct - whilst I was there they three times read out wrong numbers and then changed them after the originals would have been crossed out ! - and we are playing for money in sums such as 150 Euros so it would be nice if they got the numbers right first time !
The beach ( such as it is ) fronts the hotel and their is no road to cross but it really is not worth going to unless you are looking for a walk along the prom in which case it is perfect. and probably needed as all inclusive does make you somewhat lazy ! The bar area and arrangements for drinks etc on all inclusive is excellent and the guys their do a good job of dispensing the local lager ( Keo ) as well as Carlsberg and all the spirits you could want
Air conditioning is chargeable and I think essential as the temp hit the mid to high 30's
All in all we had a very good time but pick the Hotel up and move it 2 kilometres either towards Paphos or Coral Bay and it would have been a perfect time.

We have just returned from a week at the Pafian Sun Village. We had a great time. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived as we didnt think it was 4 star but the food, weather and definately the entertainment team (Katie, Anna, Chris and Claire) made our holiday fantastic!! These guys are absolutely amazing entertainers. Our kids who are 14 and 12 were very sad to leave. Best holiday ever.

My partner and I returned early this morning from a very hot and fab time in Cyprus. The Country & weather is wonderful and the island is definately worth a visit but this hotel certainly isn't. 4 star my butt! Thomas Cook & Sentido seriously need to do some hardcore work on this hotel. I would have requested a transfer if we hadn't got the holiday half brochure price.
The room we were first assigned was full of damp, the bed was broken and there were cockroaches, thankfully after some hard work trying to explain to the receptionist (due to language barriers) at 1 in the morning and him offering me air freshner (I was not impressed) we were given a different room which overlooked the main pool and sea. The rooms are basic but clean but lacking the quality of 4 star accomodation (according to Sentido, toiletries equals a plastic soap dispenser stuck to the wall, similar to what you'd expect in a Travel Lodge). The restaurant is dated (air-con only worked in one area) and the food somewhat lacking at most meals (although it was all cooked well and neither of us were ill).
The drinks are supplied in small plastic cups, which is understandable around the pool but not much use when you're trying to keep your fluids up in the heat. Alcoholic drinks included in the AI were limited, my advise would be to stick to the black russians or Ouzo special.
We were both very thankfull of the smaller & quieter pool, where we were able to enjoy some peace and good company including the only friendly, helpful member of staff - Christanella.
The only reason I could possibly think why this hotel is graded as a 4 star is down to the entertainment team who seemed to do a fab job keeping the kids amused.
I would strongly suggest the Thomas Cook review board and the Sentido management team visit a real 4 star resort (e.g. Baron Palms in Shalm el Sheikh) and then close over the winter and work hard!

This complex is miles away from 4 star and Thomas Cook should remove it.. It was a dirty run down place where everything was falling apart, the staff less than friendly and drunken all night sessions with people shouting till 3 or 4 in the morning around the pool. Do not book this place if you are looking for a good place to stay in Cyprus.. We moved to the Crown Horizon at Coral Bay which was far far far superior.
