Just got back from Pafian Sun... (its raining here in the UK so wish i was back there!)
Lets try and break this down a bit;
ROOMS - ours was a room for 2 adults and 2 children on an upper floor. The rooms are basic however we went All Inclusive (AI) so did'nt need to use anything in there. The room had a 2 ring stove, kettle and toaster if you need it. The beds are pretty hard and as usual only one pillow was provided per person. We anticipated this and asked at check in for 4 extra and they were in our room the same evening. Pretty good response there! There were a few ants about inside but i think this is to be expected in cyprus, we had a bit of a swarm of them one evening, however a call to reception and someone was there in 5 minutes with some spray and that held tham at bay! There was an air conditioning unit in the bedroom and living/sleeping room that was essential and worked really well. But - we had to pay approx' 120 euros for it!! Check with your travel agent about prices as thomas cook travellers had this included in thier package price. Towels and linen changed enough times (5 a week i think). We had a really nice sea view from our room.
POOL - Very crowded in mid august but to be expected in peak season really. Sunbeds left out all night then you have to put towels on in the moring - set your alarm clock guys! Our experience was any later than 7am and you won't get a sunbed in August! We were going down early for a bed then going back to bed. Its a shame to have to set your alarm on holiday but esential if you want a sunbed. It would be better if the sunbeds were stacked and locked up til say 8am but it just does'nt work like that here! If you put towels on the beds during the night the security guys will move them on to the stage area so no cheating!
ENTERTAINMENT - The entertainment team worked really hard, Rich, Jen, Jon and Helen provided the poolside stuff and evening entertainment. They do lunchtime quizzes, water polo, volleyball, football, table tennis, darts etc etc. Evening entertainment better for the younger children realy. Busy and noisy evening entertainment area but quiet by 12.30 at latest really.
FOOD AND DRINK - Food was better than i expected to be honest, large selection of cooked meats at every meal, also available were pasta dishes, rice and lots of cold salad options. We did actually get a bit fed up of eating at the same place but thats what AI is isn't it! It was our first time all inclusive and it was good not to be paying for a drink every time you wanted one or to be getting a bill at the end of every meal! The bars get busy in the evening but ques move quickly and on all inclusive you can only get 2 drinks per order.
LOCATION - A good 15 minute bus ride from the harbour area of paphos and 2 bus stops away from coral bay. The bus was about 1.50 euros to wherever so not bad really. Taxi's to the harbour area are about 12 to 15 euros. I think i would like to be nearer to the centre of paphos next time as you can't really walk anywhere from the pafian sun. Well okay you can walk up and down the main road outside but there is a lot of traffic and the pavements are'nt like British ones! There are occasional restaurants, bars and shops dotted about the main road until you get to the busier areas nearer to the harbour.
Overall a nice holiday with good food but i would'nt go back as it is too far from harbour area and i don't want to have to get up a crack of dawn for a sun bed!

Paphian Sun beach holiday village Paphos. Excellent place, booked again for
August 20 2008. The bus stop is right opposite and ample parking for a hire car. Staff are great, the food is great and and the rooms and service at the bar is friendly. The entertainment is spot on and professional. Above all it is in sunny Cyprus. They even help with speaking Greek.

I went last year sept for a holiday with my dad and sister, i was 7 1/2 month pregnant. I really enjoyed myself we had a sea view room with was a stunning view watching the sunset....beautiful! the drinks was ok, but as i was pregnant i didnt drink alot but the cocktails was kinda like hooch not very strong but tasted nice! entettainment was cheesey but i fort the ppl was funnie. We won the bingo one evening which was a laugh, coz we have never won anythink before in our life.lol. Hotel was very clean, enjoyed taking part in the pool quiz. I fought the food was beautiful, if you like salads and stuff it was lovely. and always fresh. The waiters was nice and prompt! only thing i fort was cheeky was we had to pay for air con!! but other than that i have nothing bad to say. Oh i wanted to check my facebook but i coulddddddd not get the internet to work. but never mind! Also one more thing which was quite cheeky was the bar finished at like 11.30 then after u had to pay. but coz i was fat and pregnant i was on my way bk to the hotel room by then coz i was tired. lol if u want quite sunbathing then ther are other sun loungers spotted around by the sea view around the back which was nice and relaxing with a breeze.

This was a fantastic Family holiday, I was here with my mum and dad my husband and 2 boys ages 4 and 5 years old. There are only 2 things that are not fantastic and that is that over and above what you have paid for your holiday, you then have to pay for air con when you get there, this cost us 160euros for the 2 weeks! and the only other thing is that it is quite a bit out from anywhere, not that its a problem to get buses anywhere (one every 15 mins right outside hotel) but there is not really anywhere to go for a walk.
The good points are everything else the food was the best thing ever and the highlight of my holiday, the choice was excellent, every night you could have fish, chicken, beef, pork, lamb or a vegetarian choice. There was always pasta and salad on offer with loads of fresh bread at every meal.
The rooms are nice and comfortable, basic but clean what more do you need i mean you only sleep and shower there!!! The pool was nice and clean but you did have to get up early to get a sunbed, which I must admit we did because we wanted to be right next to the childrens pool for our 2 young kids.
The entertainment at night was brilliant for the kids, my boys loved mini disco and fell in love with Jen! The adult entertainment we didnt see much of because it didnt start untill about 10.30 and we were usually heading back to our room by then (with drinks from the bar, which you are not permitted to do but no one stopped us)
All in all we loved it, probably wouldn't go back but only because I would rather try other countrys!

We arrived at paphos airport without any problems, however once there one of our bags did not show up, there airport staff where not helpful with no visable Olympic Rep in that area.
The Hotel has a nice cool reception with a lift to the lower leval the staff are cypriot or polish the check in was fine, the clientalle is Familys think butlin's only with alot smaller pool & not enough deck chairs by half & most of the sun beds have towels on them before the sun comes up.. throught the day there is a basic entertainment program offered by the thomas cooks ents team.. four guys & girls who work there sock off but some of the nights didn't cut it for me (sorry guys) to much kids stuff not enough for the grown ups.
The apts are apt and we had a nice sea view.. the maid service was excellent she changed towels and sheets everyday and in the heat she was so pleasent and helpful if you wanted her to come back later I never heard a complant, she was always very good with my daughter too.
The basis of the hotel is s/c h/b & f/b but the hotel is running at a huge loss becouse as far as the hotel staff are concerned everyone is all inclusive.. we went to the bar many times and went to pay only to then recieve and larger glass instead of plastic cup plus the free one they give to all in people.
Then we got chatting with some guests and found out they where self catering and when they left they gave us bands that they had been given for all inclusive bargin free food free drinks..
Paphos is expensive for a family of three & a two yr old, the cheapest we managed was about 60.00euros about 50.00 ish and some of the prices for food you would not pay in the uk so be careful... cheak out your exchange rate.. I got 1.22

Well where do you start in a hotel where you must pay 10 euro a night for your air con, have your watch stolen by the cleaning lady (but got it back after threating to go to the Police)could only get drunk if you mixed your drinks because they were that watered down, something went missing everyday be it from the poolside, the restaraunt or room. All i can say is this hotel is nothing short of Fawlty Towers in Cyprus he only redeeming factor was the weather 46 in the day 33 at night the hottest place ive been ,avoid the hotel though.

We arrived at The Pafian Sun Holiday Village on 22nd July and left on the 24th July (sooner would have been good)! From the moment we walked in and saw the grotty reception area, we knew that we had to get out of there, no matter what it cost!
We went straight to our room, which should have been a superior room with 2 bedrooms suitable for 4 adults having paid the extra, so that our two children would have a proper room with proper beds to sleep in. But no, we were in what they called a studio with only one bedroom and two very smelly sofas that our children were expected to use as beds. We were informed when we complained that no superior rooms were available. So, after paying our 9 euros for a days aircon (thats 126 euros, approx £110.00 for a 14 night stay) we sat down to read the information about the hotel. Only 2 drinks per person per order/ children one drink per person per order. Local ice creams for children under 16 years only between 10.00-11.00am and 3.00- 4.00pm only. Bottled water was at extra cost as was many other childrens drinks.
When we later arrived at the bar area we understood why they limited your drinks. You had to que up for about 20 minutes to get served it was so busy.It didn't help that they only opened one of the bars. We then went into the restaurant for some dinner which was surprisingly good, but the staff were awful, shouting and pointing at where you should and could sit. You were also restricted to drinks in the dining room, as once you had had one drink it was impossible to get their attention to order another.
The next day as Zoe the Rep was doing all she possibly could to get us moved, we decided to try out the pool area, we got the last available sunbeds in the place, under a battered old umbrella that didn't work. We later found out that to secure a decent bed you needed to put your towels out between 4-5am, otherwise you had no chance. Even if you were lucky enough to get a good spot by the pool, there was no personal space, you would be so close to everyone else that it felt awkward and uncomfortable. You couldn't even take a break in the pool as it was over crowded and full of children with water guns, and of course there is no beach to speak of.
Zoe, bless her eventually managed to get us in at The Ledra Beach Hotel also in Paphos, which was just great!!
Please, please don't think that we are the sort of people that moan about everything as we most certainly are not. But if you have booked this hotel then our advice to you is CANCEL it, and book in somewhere like The Ledra Beach which truely is a 4 star, not a 2 star like we believe The Pafian Sun should be!

Had an absolutely fantastic time here with my partner, we went for ten days all inclusive and we found the food to be great each night, always lots of choice and plenty of different things to try. Every night there was a different theme, chinese, Greek, Mediterranian etc etc, and they were all fantastic. And for the less adventerous there is also chips/fish fingers/chicken nuggets/spag bol every night.
Me and my partner are a young couple, and dont have any children but although this was a family resort it did not matter. We were put in a studio away from all the noise but only a 30 second walk to the pool/restaurant etc, which was really quiet. The studio was for self-catering but we were given it although we were all inclusive, and we were not complaining because it was very big! It was cleaned every day and the bedsheets were changed every other day, and we only saw one cockroach the whole time and that was on the last night!
Air con was free for us, but some people have to pay for it so make sure you check when you book it, although it wasn't hugely expensive for those who had to pay, and you could hire a safe box for about 2 euros a day which we did.
The drinks were good although watered down, but all inclusive what do you expect. Their lager is Carlsberg but that is also watered down. I found if I stuck to vodka lime and lemonade etc, instead of one of their cocktails that the alcohol content tended to be much higher. and for the kids there was loads of mocktails which were really colourful and nice.
The entertainment is hillarious, not quite west end standard but whilst we were there we saw an aladin panto, a casino night, and a few talent nights, along with bingo to start off every evening, and lots of other hillarious evenings. There was a kids club with a few dances for them to learn, then at the end of the night, (which was usually about midnight), the reps got up and made all the adults do them as well, which was funny as most people were a bit tipsy to say the least.
Really was a wonderful holiday, everything was clean, we got good value for money and had a great time.
Oh, and ide definately consider hiring a car, although there is a bus stop right outside the hotel, there not the most reliable things, and you need transport to get to coral beach/paphos town etc etc.
Oh, and another thing. The english say that the germans are bad when it comes to sunbeds. well we are just as bad. If you want a sunbed, you have to be by the pool by about 7am!! This was the ONLY downside to the holiday, but there was plenty of chairs under parasols so always somewhere to sit.

Well, if you want real 4 star luxury and drinks that aren’t watered down then you’re not going to get it for £500 odd quid are you, let’s be honest? If that really is what you want then pay a few hundred extra and go to Cancun or somewhere like that.
The Pafian (or Chav-ian) Sun Village really is what you make of it. In the daytime you can escape the relentless entertainment by getting sun loungers down on the grassy area overlooking the beautiful sea. Then take your i-pod down there with a little speaker and some chilled out music and you could be somewhere a lot more chilled out. But be warned, you need to get up EARLY to get any kind of lounger at all. I got up progressively earlier as the week went on and on our last day when I got there at 7.20am there were none left. Have we Brits started taking lessons from the Germans or what??
The food is lovely, think I must have put on at least half a stone. Really good choice of food even for fussy eaters like me. But I would say don’t bother with your night in the A la carte restaurant because that limits your choice. I kicked myself when I walked through the buffet afterwards.
Rooms are large, comfortable and clean. Don’t want to whinge but it is a bit cheeky to expect people to have to pay for air con in the height of summer. I think you could manage without it but it would be pretty uncomfortable.
At night time there really is no escaping the entertainment. You can go to Paphos on the bus but that really defeats the point of being all inclusive so we just made the most of the days.
We went to two trips – the Half Day Heaven cruise and George’s Fun Bus. Both of these were fab and the Fun Bus really is the best way to see the island – my jaw was aching from laughing by the time we got back, something really different and everyone should go on it so book early to avoid disappointment.
I don’t think we would return to the Pafian but for families with kids I’d say it’s a good cheap bet.

I Have just returned from the Pafian Sun hotel, it was not a holiday from hell but it was very disappointing. From the brochure it looked fab but the camera does lie! It was marketed as four star accommodation and it did look impressive. In reality it turned out to be more like a very poor two star with poor equipment, average facilities and a small swimming pool. To think for an extra £100 I could have had a holiday in America but thought I would opt this year for Europe, what a big mistake!!! The staff while civil
know very little about customer service. I traveled with my wife and two teenage children and we are all disappointed.
My major issue with our apartment is that it was suitable for two not four. They sell you a room for four that is designed for two. My six foot one son who is only 16 had to sleep on a very uncomfortable bed settee and my daughter was confined to a very claustrophobic bed chair. I think tour operators need to ensure that if you pay for a room for four there should be at least four beds.
Firstly the staff did the bear minimum with the exception of our cleaning-lady!!!
Secondly you had to pay for coat hangers in the room, this must be the first time ever this has happened also nine euros per day for air conditioning was a little extravagant.
Thirdly there were insufficient sun beds for the complex. Bearing in mind that some guests reserved up to ten sun beds and set by the pool from 5:30 am guarding their zone! Get a life!!! So by 8:30 or even 9:00 am all beds had towels thrown over them. It was a joke!!
Finally, I am glad I was room only as the food according to other guests was "repetitive bland and poor quality".
In conclusion I remember as a young child going to Butlins in the 70's well this was a very close new millennium comparison, the reps did try their best to entertain but it was at best loud and brash and only suitable for young children. My best advice to you is give Europe a miss save a little harder and holiday in America, you will not regret it. This holiday confirmed to me all the reasons why I will never holiday again in Europe. In truth I would rather stay at home.

food excellent, all hot and plenty of choice. Rooms good but beware air conn apparently extra, allthough told by tour operator that this was included [ to be sorted] Beer dispenced in small plastic cups only 2 x drinks at atime, which was a bit labourious
Entertainment ? although the entertainment staff put 120% in, the out puy was pants, jimmy the magician, his name says it all and a parrot show, twice. To be fair they were 1 x entertainer down at the time, but for the best entertainment, organise it your selfs as we did
The village is between Coral Bay & Phafos with very, very little else in between, the bus in either direction is 1.59 euro, every 15 mins, only small amounts of decent shopping areas in either place
Be aware when comparing prices, all euro prices have a £ equivalent price below, but this makes the price look good because it is in cypriot £'s
Overall enjoyed the holiday
P.S temperatures 40'c shade 56'c plus in the open

We have just come back from a week's holiday at the Pafian Sun Holiday Village, myself, my husband and 7 year old daughter. I must admit that I was very worried about going to the Pafian after reading the reviews, however my fears did not materialise. We have all had a brilliant holiday. My daughter went to the kids club every day and enjoyed it very much. The entertainment staff; Helen, Jen, John & Rich did an excellent job keeping both adults and children entertained day & night. Our room was large but basic, it was cleaned 5 days out of 7 and the towels and bed linen changed 2/3 a week. We did not have to pay for the air conditioning which was needed because it was so hot.
The pool area was very busy and I'm afraid you did have to get up at about 6.00am to get a sunbed. The food in the restaurant was very good and I found the staff to be very pleasant & efficient. Everywhere in the complex was kept very clean & tidy.
Although I would agree that it is not 4* more like 3*, I would recommend the Pafian to families who like to join in and have fun (you are not made to do anything you don't want to!).
