Symi island is a 1 hour ferry trip of Rhodes Island
Symi is very popular for day trippers from Rhodes. They arrive about 10 a.m. and disappear at a bout 6 p.m. allowing the islanders to resort to their calm way of life.
There are many apartments to rent, there are approx 5 hotels.
half a dozen markets, assorted hardware stores, highly commended bakery, internet cafe etc)
many, many restaurants suited to all prices.
There is a super music festival in latter half of July.
Since there is very little fresh water on the island (boat-tanker deliveries twice weekly) there are NO SWIMMING POOLS and hence VERY FEW KIDDIES 0R COFFIN-DODGERS !!!!!!!
The front door of the Pedi beach hotel is roughly 25 paces from the calm sheltered Pedi bay
(its called "Pedi Beach" but would be better called "Pedi Micro-beach")
The hotel is very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful
the breakfasts are quite adequate.
Three gravelly/pebbly beaches within 45 min walking.
All islanders are extremely friendly
Manos Rep - Barbara - is delightful, knows the island like the back of her hand.
Perfect for a non-neon, non-disco holiday.
