Bunratty Castle Hotel

My husband and i flew to Shannon airport on 7/1/06.we took a taxi to Bunratty which took about ten minutes and cost fourteen euros.
On arrival at the Bunratty castle hotel we were very surprised and impressed at the standard of the hotel as it had been booked via the internet. The reception staff were friendly and courteous and we were booked into the hotel and referred to our room very quickly. We were extremely pleased with the standard of the room - lovely furniture, TV, clean and quite opulent with a huge bed three pillows wide.
Having unpacked we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant that night. Very nice meal and not too costly with good service - all the staff were very friendly. We then went to the bar area and yet again found it tastefully decorated and the bar staff again friendly and helpful.
Breakfast the following three mornings was a lovely selection of hot and cold buffet - you could have the usual cereals, toast etc and/or full English cooked fare.
Although Bunratty is a very small village there is enough to occupy those on a short stay - there is the Bunratty Castle and folk village right opposite the hotel, dirty Nelly’s public house with evening entertainment, the creamery restaurant with a good selection on the menu and three large gift shops all within five minutes walk.
I would certainly recommend Bunratty castle hotel for a weekend break and should imagine it is a beautiful place to stay in the spring/summer- the only negative comment I could possibly make would be the weather was not too good- but it was January after all!!
