Just got back from the Castillo San Jorge/Caleta De Fuste, and can say we had a great time. Got to the hotel on Saturday night at about 21:30, we were half board and were told that dinner that night had finished, they advised however they were going to keep the dining room... more

We spent a week here mid August for a family holiday and we had a really good holiday. The weather was perfect - sunny and warm but you don't realise just how hot it is because of the breeze. We were all using factor 50 and still managed to get sunburnt - it's even worse... more

Good Holiday

We originally booked a holiday at the Castillo de Elba in Costa Antigua but we were informed that we had been moved to the Castillo San Jorge just before our holiday (we still haven't quite got to the bottom of why we were moved because the place looked open to us when we went down there, however after seeing the original hotel & surrounding area we are NOT complaining). On arrival at the Castillo San Jorge we were pleasantly suprised, we arrived several hours before the designated check-in time and yet our room had been cleaned and was ready for us. The room itself was clean and nicely decorated and the kitchenette had all the facilities needed microwave, toaster etc. (There were no bowls but these were provided after we requested them from reception). However if you are going self-catering you will need to be aware that the hotel do not provide tea towels or cloths for washing up so it might be a good idea to take that with you. And regardless of the best-before date on it milk only lasts a maximum of two days out there, even in the fridge. You can also hire out a safe for 30 euro's 10 of which you get back when you return the keys. The Facilities are brilliant because even though they are technically three seperate hotels guests can use facilities within all three of the hotels, meaning that there are three adult pools, three childrens pools and hundreds of sunbeds so there was no real problem with overcrowding etc. The Reps for Sunset/ Thomas Cook (the company that we went with) were at the hotel for a couple of hours every day except tuesday. But even on a Tuesday in order to see a rep all that you had to do was walk up to the Boncemar Beach Hotel which is about a 10 minute walk. Even though the planes do fly quite close to the hotel you cannot hear them within the Elba Complex although they are evident at other place on the resort. The beach was literally a 2-5minute walk from the hotel (unless you take the scenic harbour route) and was very pretty. The swimming are was cordened off and protected and the horseshoe shaped bay that it is situated in meant that there were no strong currents. However it is vvvvv windy so either hire a sun lounger 9 euros or take a wind breaker of some kind or you will most likely end up covered in sand. On the whole we had a great time.

Stayed here at castillo antigua for two weeks from 7th June 2006. Booked seperate flights and accomodation via internet. We stayed at these apartments last year and thought that this year might not be so good. We were wrong!!! we had a lovely time, the rooms were very clean, staff friendly and we had a beautiful sea view. The entertaninment duo were Mikael and Marienne, The children loved them and the mini club/disco was first rate. If you have booked this accomodation just relax and prepare to enjoy. There is some ongoing building work going on outside the san jorge but it is not obtrusive. If there is one thing negative it is the price of the drinks not just at the accomodation but in the resort, it is dearer than the UK??? You can hire most things from reception eg fans, dvd players etc.. The food is plentiful but samey... If you do go out head for FADO ROCK... by far the most reasonably priced steak house on the island. The food is so good i could go on forever... The t bone @ 12.50 euros (approx £9) is the size of a small country. The entertainment and the activities both during the day and in the evening is really well thought out and enjoyable... Free shuttle bus to the big supermarket...do all your shopping there as it is pricey at the supermarkets in the resort... Hope this info is usefull.. The Pearsons

After 3 hectic weeks in Florida, these apartments were booked at the last minute for R&R. Stayed 3rd to 10th June (Hello to anyone who was there) They were brilliant - clean, friendly staff and a great kids club. Weather was a lot hotter than we expected and not as windy!! Pool areas were cleaned every day - we were allocated a two bedroom apartment with a sea view on the top floor. Fantastic room - could have done with the towels changing every day (i think room service was every other day). 10 year old daughter loved all the entertainment and went to the kids club every morning and afternoon. In fact she only ate with us on one evening because the rest of the week she "had" to go to the mini disco!! The entertainment was typical of a complex - some acts were very good and some were dire!! However because there was only a small audience we got through the bad acts with typical british humour!!!! Complex felt as though it was empty - but this made it feel more family like. All the children knew each other and likewise the parents. Ate at The Joint on one night - we really thought it was of a very good quality. The rest of the time we ate at The Trafalgh, just across the road - typical British food....but cheap, good quality and tasty!! Don't go if you want nightlife or clubs - you won't see any! TOP TIPS Go and feed the chipmunks on the rocks - so sweet!! Walk to beach (about 5 minute stroll) Go to Tony Roma's for the ribs Generally chill out Only one minus point - husband got bitten my mosquitos 52 times!!! Yes, he made me count them. Yet i am the one that normally gets bitten and i didn't get a one! Will be going back again in October half term!!! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want any questions answered!

We stayed at the San Jorge for the last week in April and have nothing but praise! Room clean and plenty of space. Pool area was really good with a bar which sold snacks and drinls. Food - we were half board and the choices at both breakfast and dinner were very good. Entertainment wasn't for us but can see how convenient it would be to a young family. The situation of the hotel was good, in that it was in a quiet area of the resort but within a few minutes walking distance of beach, bars, restaurants and shopping. The steak restaurant in the resort was very good and the bar right across the road was oh so handy!! Will definitely be back!!

Have just arrived back from San Jorge. We checked into our room, which was in the San Jorge part of the 3 buildings. The room was average, but fine. Upon inspection we noticed that the floor wasn't clean and was in need of a sweep. Upon contacting reception within 10 mins they had sorted out the problem. Next day we decided we would like to move to the back of the hotel so we could be directly looking at the sea (our other room was sideways on and had another building opposite very dark. The hotel could not of been more helpful and we moved the next day (well worth the extra money). The amount of pools to choose from was great, if a wee bit cold! The location of the hotel was A1 and they also provide a free bus to the local Alantica shopping centre if needed, although it's very cheap to get a taxi, and quicker. The supermarkets on site are a bit more pricy, but if you don't want to go to the shopping centre, pop round the corner to the Netto cheaper supermarket. Ate at the hotel a few times as it was easy with the little one (3 yr old) and the food was pretty good. On site but completely independent from the hotel is Amigos Playcentre which is owned and run by Laura from England. This playcentre has excellent facilities and great toys for the little ones, you can even sit right near by if you want while your little ones are playing. It really is a lovely little set-up and the owner Laura is great, my daughter took a real shine to her. They are also investing in some more toys that can be hired out whilst you are on your hols - what a great idea, the little ones get to play and we don't have to bring all the bits on holiday. Did hire a car, but not a hugh amount to see. The weather was A1 couldn't fault it, the breeze really takes the heat off, but plenty of suncream as you don't quite realise how much sun you are catching! The entertainment was't that great at the hotel, but I put this down too it being early season and not that many people around, although the ABBA women were great.

Got back from the san jorge on the 3rd of May, had a great time the apartments were really nice, and there was plently of pool's. when we first got our room in was quite far from the pool, so we asked to move and they moved us the next morning, which was great, we were right next to the pool then. we stayed on half board basis the restuarant was ok, buffet type food, if you had pad for all inclusive there was other places to eat which were nice. San jorge is in a brill location 2min walk from the main center, and 5 min walk to beach. Would recommend a chinese called 'china'. Overall its a lovely place to stay, and would go back.

my wife and I and our 11 year old daughter have just got back from our holiday totally relaxed. San Jorge half board is SUPERB. plenty to do during the day if you want and fairly quiet at night no noise after 11.30pm really good nights sleep had by all. FOOD too many dishes to choose from ROOMS clean and quiet POOLS all clean and lovely to lie at VERY HOT at times BEACH it took us 10/15 minute to walk along coastline BUILDING WORK across the road at front of hotel but all pools/beds are at back of hotel we didnt hear a thing. SAD TO COME HOME TO SCOTLAND

Firstly I would like to say that we have been holidaying abroad for many years and always stay in a three star hotel, This hotel is three hotels together the San Jorge, Antigua, Suites, we stayed in Suites on Half Board. You can stay on bed and breakfast, half board or all inclusive, we would recommend AI. The Hotel Very clean, maid service every day except Thursdays and Sundays, our room was a one bedroom self catering room and we was on half board which was good as you had a fridge etc, they do have two bedroom rooms as well. Pools There are 6 in total a main pool and children’s pool in each hotel, these are cleaned daily, it was good to have a choice as the weather can be windy and some pools were hot than others as there we more sheltered. Entertainment In the past it has always seemed as if the animation team were doing all the entertainment themselves and could at times be boring, Well not here! There was a mini disco for one hour at 8.30 and the adults show at 9.30 and finished by 11.30 and then they bought in shows every day apart from one and they were not west end but they were good. During the day there was stuff to do if you wanted too for Adults and children’s clubs for the kids including trips outs to the beach and mini golf, our kids went to the mini club most of the day as did every one else’s. Food As stated we were on Half Board, breakfast there was a choice of cereals, cold meats, scrambled egg , bacon, hashbrown cake, sausages, beans, tomato, yoghurts, toast and they fried eggs on request. Lunch time Snack bars that sold burgers, toasted sandwiches etc Evening Meal Choice of salads, hot food and again they was two items that they cooked on request. All the food was very good and in the week we stayed we never heard of any dodgey stomachs. In the restaurant men could where shorts. Bars Happy hour is between 730 and 830pm and we never had to queue for drinks. Why we would recommend AI, we always stay AI but this wasn’t offered to us at the time of booking, the drinks are the best I have seen, Budweiser, Malibu and pints of beer in glasses, Food You could eat in the main buffet restaurant in the evening or you could go Alacart but you would have to pay and you get 15% discount ( these are in the hotel but not run by them) Lunch time you get to pick off the menu in which is great. Taxi from the airport is 8 Euro and there are plenty Building is present in adjacent blocks but not a problem. Overall a very good holiday and we will go back!! Enjoyed the peace and lovely sunny weather end of Feb 2006. Costa Caleta is only 10 minutes from the airport but the planes passing over are not intrusive. There are no flights at night. This is an ideal destination for older folk or familys. There is a very safe beach and a really long prom with lots of seats and plenty of resturants and not much night life. Watch out for the wild chipmunks living in the rocks all round the prom area. The Castillo Suites are part of a 3 block complex sharing all the facilities, entertainment and kids club. There are 9 pools with loads of sun beds so always somewhere to sit. We had a one bedroomed apartment with sea view and lovely sunny balcony. TV and everything needed plus microwave supplied. There is a supermarket under the apts but it is quite expensive. Catch the free bus outside at quarter to the hour( leaves to come back at half past) to the big Atlantico shopping center where there is a big supermarket with cheap prices. Also McDonalds for the kids. Try the Hong Kong chinese on the next corner for 3 course set meal for 9.95 euros and THE JOINT carvery under the apts for great meals British style for the same price. Would go here again in the future.

me and my boyfriend have visited the antigua suites for the last 4 years and thoroughly enjoy every minute. we can not comment on the food as always been self catering but we can highly recommend HAPPY BURGER located just around the corner for cheap but excellent food the only draw back is that they are closed on sundays. the entire staff at the 3 complexes are friendly and helpful. an added bonus is the chance of feeding the beautiful chipmunks who do feed out of your hands they like any nuts and fruits i could spend hours sitting and watching them. supermarkets are slightly more expensive than we would like but a delightful 30 min walk along the coastline and beach to the supermarket located in the atlantico shopping centre and only a 2 euro taxi ride back will cut the cost in that department. we would highly recommend these apartments, resort and the island as a whole and will be going back ourselves very soon.
