Fantastic Holiday Again
10 / 10
Feb 2012, binneyMerseyside

We stayed at this hotel in June and October 2011. We stayed for two weeks each time all inclusive. We had a wonderful time. Staff are very very friendly and helpful and no request was too small.
Rooms were cleaned and clean towels and bedding were changed regulary. Food was excellent. very good choice. Something for everyone. Restaurant staff were very friendly especially Mercedes and Abdel who looked after us. The bar staff Abdel and Yeodel looked after us also. Very friendly and efficient service. We have been there eight times in all over the years. The view from our room was fantastic. Sometimes I would fall asleep on the balcony listening to the waves.
Plenty of sunbeds around the two pools. The hotel is in a good location for the beach. 15 minutes walk along a lovely path and if you are lucky you may spot a chipmunk or two. The hotel has a free bus that goes to the Atlantico Center where there are a few shops and bars and a large supermarket if you are self catering.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and hope to be back soon. Thanking you for reading this review.

Had a ball staying at San Jorge.......

Dec 2011, Malky

My wife and I stayed in San Jorge Nov 22nd - 6th Dec....I have to say, couldnt fault any of it. OK room could be doing with a bit of fresh decor,,,but I wouldnt complain about that....On arrival,,,,the lassie at Reception remembered our e mail, requesting a top floor with great sea view, as it was my Birthday,,,and our Wedding Anniversay on 26th Nov......What we got was out of this world,,,,We booked a one bedroom apt with seaview, but got allocated a cracking two bedroom apt, with beautiful big corner balcony with views to die for.....and sun all day.....We were over the moon....As for the meals,,,,wouldnt complain, great choice meats,,,,including sirloin steak,,,chicken,,beef dishes,,great variety every night...cooked fresh in front of you by chefs....Loads of fresh salad dishes , pasta dishes,,,soups,,,and desserts....Waiter service at your table every Lunch time and Evening meals...What more could you ask for.....Afterwards if you felt like a wee refreshment,,,,there was a choice of Bars....Entertainment Bar,,,,good for families, Adult Bar, nice and relaxing...Also , The Dog and Duck Pub onsite,,,not all inclusive, but very cheap, 2Euro 50Cents for pint Strongbow, or John Smiths.....What we liked also was that you could ask for drinks in a plastic tumbler to take to your room. I have to say cleaning staff, regularly cleaned room etc, Restaraunt Staff, I have to say were lovely and attentive of our special occasion, gave me a Birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to me....Also Mercedes, (female waitress) gave us a bottle of Champers to mark our Wedding Anniversary.....We couldnt thank them enough for the fuss they made.......Bar Staff,,,,Ramone always smiling and chatty,,,they all were.....The entertainment staff,,,,,Oswald and Frank,,,,were just crazy and lovely,,,got everyone from the kids to the parents and grandparents up on the dancefloor.....Cant thank all the staff we were in contact with enough, for making this holiday one of the best. Thanks San Jorge ,,,will definately be back........Malky and Annette fae Scotland..........

  • Advice: Just be yourself and join in the chat with the other holidaymakers and staff.....All staff we were in contact with were just lovely and polite, never passed by without saying Hello....Couldnt fault this hotel....

Just returned from our 5th stay this hotel, and as ever we had a fantastic holiday. We always stay in the Antigua Suites, one of the three hotels which are all next to each other.
The rooms are basis but always spotless on arrival and throughout our stay. Rooms are cleaned and towels changed 5 days a week (no room service on the busy change over days).
What we love about this hotel is the friendly atmosphere. The staff are fantastic and very friendly and helpful. The hotel also seems to retain the same staff that we see year after year, and this promotes a family feeling. They have a great memory for faces and we are always given a lovely welcome back.
Again the restaurant is clean and all meals are serves on a buffet basis. There is also a grill where in the morning fresh fried eggs, omelettes, or the BEST pancakes ever are made to order – fantastic!! At lunch and dinner as well as the buffet, you can select chicken, fish or meat to be cooked in front of you.
We have always gone all inclusive and can ask for bottles of water throughout the day, help ourselves to soft drinks, ice cream, tea/coffee etc and the bar opens at 10am.
As a guest you can use any of the 3 pools. Families tend to use the pool at the Antigua Suites, leaving the other two usually very quiet.
Why do we keep going back? Simple – we love Fuerteventura and Costa Caleta and would not want to stay anywhere else but the Antigua Suites. As said above the hotel is always clean, the staff friendly and it is in a fantastic location right on the seafront, and there is a walkway that goes rights past the hotel on down to the harbour in ten minutes or so.
The first couple of times we booked through a travel agent. However now we book Ryan Air flights, and book direct with the hotel. We find this works out about the same price and we state what sea view room we would like. A Taxi from airport costs around 12 Euros.
This is a you tube clip done by the Elba company and gives you a feel for the hotel and the resort - http://youtu.be/mxOW5JHDExE.

It was excellent to see Frank the night and kids club out of this world
The food both Breakfast time and night (they have a good different selection) , but watch out for the beans , looks like Baked Beans can be horrible

Different people expect and experience different things... but from some of the negative reviews, I seriously wonder if there is another place with a similar name that is causing all this confusion!!!
It was NOT a 'perfect' holiday... I don't know that I've ever experienced that... but it was JUST what we were looking for and I would definately go back.
Going late September, we seem to have avoided the biggest complaint... sunbed availability!
Three pools to chose from, and ALWAYS beds available at all three... we dropped our towels on the bed at 9.30am when heading for breakfast... and were poolside from 10.15am. The sun rose over the building around 10.30am, so it worked out perfect for a poolside holiday.
The pool itself was cleaned daily and the water was changed during our second week, so no complaints re cleanliness. The water WAS cold... but SO refreshing in the 40 degree poolside sun!
No poolside music, no hassle, perfect!
The entertainment team worked hard and were friendly throughout. Mini-disco was fun for the kids... and whether there was three kids or twenty three, they team gave it their best and truly engaged with them.
FOOD?
We were all inclusive and I did feel there was plenty of variety. Themed nights were the norm... Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Seafood, Canarian etc.
As well as the pre-cooked dishes, there were always three freshly cooked meals available... from lamb chops, sirloin steaks, sole, pork chops, sausages, chicken kebabs etc. Freshly cooked for you!
The breakfast sausages were the rubbishy hot-dog kind... but I think that is a cultural thing! The freshly made on order omelettes more than made up for that!
My biggest gripe re the food was that the salad bar often had a cloud of small flies swarming around it... with no cover. That was off-putting for me... but on the whole, the food was good and varied.
Service was great too... first night, I asked for a white wine and a rosé wine... went for food... and returned to find a BOTTLE of each on the table uncorked and ready for consumption! Hic!
Entertainment area could do with more seats. That is a concession... but that said, we went there after our meal and never failed to get a seat. Also, there was never a big wait at the bar.
All inclusive at the bar is indeed local (30%) spirits... but the measures are generous and it also includes things like Irish Coffees, cocktails, Bailies and Amoretto... the staff were very friendly too.
One afternoon, I had a cheeky post-sunbathing Mai Tai cocktail... as I was about to go, the waitress came up and took my glass.. replacing it with a full one!!! (she refused a tip!!!)
Room was large, clean, and well furnished. I booked three star expecting three star! That's what I got! No air-con, and if I was going to suggest one major investment for the hotel, it would definately be air-conditioning! It was near the end of the first week before I could sleep due to the heat!
That said, the resort is quiet, and despite our room overlooking the pool and entertainment area, it was quiet from around 11pm onwards, so I was comfortable sleeping with the balcany door open.
Our departure wasn't till 6pm, and I asked to keep our room on... but they had 90 departures and 90 arrivals, so this wasn't possible!
That said, the all-inclusive was valid till 3pm so we had breakfast and lunch, and there is a room to leave luggage. Also, there is a separate showering area, and the hotel supplies towels... so we sunbathed right up until 4pm on our day of departure!
I cannot comment much on the resort as we only ventured out twice... but this was PERFECT for an off-season poolside quiet break, and I would definately go back!

very enjoyable time

Just got back from the Castillo San Jorge/Caleta De Fuste, and can say we had a great time.
Got to the hotel on Saturday night at about 21:30, we were half board and were told that dinner that night had finished, they advised however they were going to keep the dining room open so we could get some food, it was just sadwiches, salad and fruit, but it was better than nothing and was a nice touch.
The room, honestly could have done with a lick of paint and a few touches here and there, and air con would be nice. but all in all it was clean and liveable, we had a fridge which was a bonus as i always like cold drinks on hand. the room was cleaned every other day, with new towels each time, we came back one afternoon to find a swan made of towels on the bed, it was a nice touch and made us smile.
The food, breakfast was the same every day, the usual fruits, salad, cereals and fried breakfast, all edible, the only real downside for me and my wife was they served hot dog sausages not 'regular' sausages, not deal breaker, but would have liked a change every now and again. evening meal was on the whole very nice, there was care taken with the food and the presentation and the choice was extensive, enjoyed the speciality meats/fish, tuna, veil, leg of pork being particular highlights and the mexican night was my favorite. staff in the dining room on the whole were friendly, the head chief (don't know his name) and sergio being the most friendly and helpful, striking conversations each evening which was nice.
The hotel, is in a fantastic location, right on the sea front with a walkway about a mile each way, very nice. The hotel i have to say was in very good shape, well kept, we did not spend any time around the pool's so can't comment on the sunlounger problems, but there were 2 pools and another lounge area, we walk past each, each day and there was always vacant loungers so there did not seem to be a problem.
The resort, really enjoyed caleta de fuste, a nice resort, aimed at couples, family's, it was laid back with no sign of trouble which is what you want, there are lots of bars and places to eat, and entertainment, we went to piero's/stage door most nights to start the evening and enjoyed the entertaiment there, my wife especially enjoyed the drag queen show which featured miss sadie b and ms del rio, also kennie delaine and crazy legs george, were great and a good start to an evening.
One down side of the resort is the cost of drinks, most bars were expensive, so a search around is advisable, we were charged 11 euro's for 2 vodka and cokes in the irish bar (never went there again) and were going to get a pitcher of jd, voka, red bull and sprite in another bar but then noticed they wanted 20 euro's!!! ouch. We left that.
all in all, we had a great time and would recommend the resort and the hotel to all.

Have just arrived back from a 7 night stay in the San Jorge and was extremely impressed for the most part with the hotel and its facilities.
We arrived at lunch time and unfortunately the staff hadn't had time to turn the room around, however the receptionist staff were extremely helpful and issued the wrist bands enabling us to take advantage of the food and drinks available. Once we had gotten to the room (1227) we were delighted to find a clean and reasonably appointed two bedroom apartment with a fantastic sea view. There was more than adequate wardrobe space and power points were located where they needed to be. The beds (two singles pushed together as is normal) in each room were very comfortable with additional pillows available.
The bathroom was, in common with the rest of the apartment, very clean with more than sufficient towels provided.
Kitchen facilities were fine and to make an occasional coffee we simply used the microwave provided.
Room cleaning, towel changes and bedding changes were clearly operated on a published rota basis and were stuck to.
The restaurant food was always of good quality and the waiting staff although obviously extremely busy were always courteous and helpful. As has been noted elsewhere the snack bar menu was fairly limited however staying on an all inclusive basis we didn't find we needed to use it's facilities very often, although our two teenagers were hugely impressed with the snack bar house burgers.
The entertainment is clearly centred around families with young children so it seems unfair to criticise but our sixteen year old insisted on being at the mini-disco regardless (no doubt she'll be keeping that bit from her friends).
Aside from the usual lack of loungers (in reality if they had enough there wouldn't be the floor space to put them on)the hotel complex was very well laid out and clean with the only real disappointment being the inability of guests to tidy up after themselves and put their rubbish in the bins provided preferrring apparently instead to leave it to someone else to do and then complain. The pools were always clean and I never came across any cracked or dangerous tiles.
Access to the harbour and beach were via a very pleasant walk along the sea front which took about 5 minutes and there are are some lovely places to sit and enjoy the sea on the rocks if you're fairly sure footed.
The on-site shop seemed to be very expensive but there was a mini-supermarket about 5 minutes walk away which seemed fair enough.
On the whole a very pleaseant hotel complex clearly centering it's entertainment for families with young children. With wonderful sea views, good facilities and excellent food there was very little to complain about and I would certainly return again.

good holiday - some things could be improved
7 / 10
Aug 2011, nicnoc 13

We spent a week here mid August for a family holiday and we had a really good holiday. The weather was perfect - sunny and warm but you don't realise just how hot it is because of the breeze. We were all using factor 50 and still managed to get sunburnt - it's even worse on the beach so be warned!
The hotel itself is fine - not amazing, certainly not holiday from hell material though. We had a good experience with the reception staff on arrival who were friendly and efficient. We were in our room within 10 minutes of getting off the coach. Our room was perfect for us although it would have been nice if we could have had the full seaview we had requested, but we could still see the sea a bit. The rooms are clean and fairly well equipped, especially as although we were all inclusive, some guests stay self catering so each apartment has a kitchen/dining area so you have the use of a fridge.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was fine for us - we put the children in the bedroom and we were on a remarkably comfy sofa bed in the main room. I have nothing negative to say about the rooms - they were cleaned regularly and we got new towels 3 times in the week. I was concerned that there was no air con but it was not a problem at all. We all slept comfortably.
The major downside for us was the usual carry on with the sunbeds. There are apparently only enough sunbeds for 40% of the total guests at the hotel (our rep said it was something to do with health and safety?) so each morning, one of us had to get up and go down to the pool to reserve our sunbeds by 7.30 am. You can't just leave towels on them because some mornings the staff do a poolside sweep and remove towels for unoccupied sunbeds. As it was overcast until about 11 am, it was quite cold and I would have rather have been tucked up in my bed! But it wasn't the end of the world.
The food in the restaurant was of good quality - they maybe could provide more choice for fussy children? Our kids ate pasta and chips all week! If you are vegetarian, be warned, almost everything has some sort of meat in it - salads too. The restaurant tends to have a theme each night but it does start to get a bit repetitive, but then that's why we only went for a week. My husband ate his body weight in freshly cooked steaks, chicken kebabs, pork/lamb chops!!! There was plenty of fish and the salads were gorgeous. The food in the snack bar is pretty poor though - just burgers, chips, hot dogs, chips, chips, chips and more chips!
The other things that we felt the hotel needs to address is that the toilets by the snack bar get rather dirty so need to be cleaned alot more often throughout the day, I did mention this to the reception staff but it didn't improve while we were there. And the other thing is that they need to employ more waiting staff in the restaurant area. Drinks are served at the table but on some days you couldn't get the attention of a member of staff for love nor money! We managed to not get wound up but there were a few guests getting their knickers in a real knot about it!
We wandered down to the town everyday almost, it's only 10 minutes walk down by the sea and if you take apples, raisins or cucumber, the chip munks come up to you and take food from you if you stand still for a bit. The beach is lovely and perfect for children - it's really shallow and slopes gently with lovely soft sand.
When in town we booked onto the sub cat in the harbour - it was good fun for the kids and then after you can go round the aquarium. Our youngest even got a kiss from a sealion for 6 euros with a photo too. We also had a ride on a camel (smelly but fun) and played minigolf which was a laugh.
If you like buying souvenirs, the shops are full of cheap tat so don't waste your money - we found nothing that we wanted to buy!
We really enjoyed our holiday and the hotel although I don't think we would stay there again. But then we tend not to go back to the same place we've been to before.

just got back from Castillo San Jorge yesterday and it wasnt as bad a the last review has said.
We didnt have a seaview which was a shame as it did look lovely, We never saw any loo roll or Dog Poo anywhere or vomit from the night before, but did see alot of cats.
The Dwn side for us with the Hotel was that a lot of the places that were on site were CLOSED, there is only 1 snack bar,1 Restaurant (Buffet) 1 English Pub and 1 Bar at the the entertainment area.
It was a joke that you had to queue to get a drink in the eveing as they only had one memeber of staff serving, which needed at least two people every night.
The Food was good but got a bit boring into the second week, the staff were nice but very very busy, again under staffed.
Kids entertainment was ok my 10 year old daughter thought it was ok but NOT great as aimed more for the younger kids, mini disco was the same thing EVERY night which does do your head in.
They need more sun loungers as its a joke, everyone goes dwn early and puts towels down but dont go dwn sit on them til lunch time, we thought ok if you cant beat em join em and our towels got thrown away which meant we had to go and buy more towels.
Not enough chairs for the eveing when going to see entertainment, we had to sit on the loungers which killed your backs after a while or sit on the wall which killed your bums. if the staff bothered to get more chairs and tables from the closed Rodeo Bar or closed Snack Bar or Closed Tapas Bar then we would have all had seating.
We really thought it was bad that you had to Hire a kettle, even though we were all inclusive we should have had a kettle for a cuppa in the morning, ( we boiled water in a saucepan)
We made it a nice Holiday though as didnt want these things to spoil our long awaited trip, we had to rise above it, BUT we wont be going back.
P.S DONT use the supermarket on site they are taking the p..s we paid paid 10 euros for milk and a bag of crisps.

Just got back from a 7 day "Holiday" and feel like i need another to get over this one!
I went with my 12 year old son who has autism , when booking i made it clear we needed a Air Con room , quiet and away from the main street.
We got no air con , above a pub and night club open till 6am!
The rooms are dirty , Very dirty , pee stained mattresses and what looked like blood stained towels.
Some of the staff were OK , but in the whole they were very stressed over worked and didn't appear to care about the customer experience. The restaurant staff were the worst , shouting at my kid for daring to get his own drink (as they are allowed to do during the day time).
The food was terrible , swimming in grease and just nasty.
Drinks served in plastic cups , cheap as chips local rubbish , the pints came with so much head i asked for a flake and strawberry sauce!
The entertainment was fair , if you like to watch the young and desperate trying their very best to impress the young 'Hot' Spanish guy doing the events , kinda fun to watch tho.
The resort in general was OK , but it could do with some money being spent on cleaning up the graffiti and fixing the broken tiles on the street which are a real danger!
There are wild cats everywhere!! , If you like cats and don't mind Rabies then this is OK , also Doves will plague your every day , pooing on your washing while it dries and harassing you while you eat.
There are cockroaches EVERYWHERE , so don't be surprised when you first see one doing backstroke in the pool as i was!
Be careful when walking on the rocks opposite the hotel there is dogs mess and broken glass all over the place , and if you avoid that , then be on the alert for the piles of vomit from the night be-fore's night-clubbers.
On the plus side the sea is very clear but NO WHERE near a blue flag beach so expect some sanitary products and loo roll to be washed up on the rocks.
There is a colony of introduced chipmunks living in the rocks along the shore line , they are kinda cute but again can carry Rabies so DONT be tempted to feed them by hand!
The marina is nice with lots to see and do , i recommend swimming with sea-lions the staff there are great and are very helpful.
The hotel will charge you €10+€10 deposit for a fan to keep cool , and a whopping €30 for the keys to your safe! , you WILL need a safe as the maids who only come once every other day always leave your windows and doors unlocked and open!
My advice is NOT to book here , DONT go All Inclusive , got B&B at the much much nicer Barcelo.com Fueterventura , which is a very nice air-con equipped facility. I only wish i had known all this when i was mis-sold the trip in the first place.
OH and finally if your a bit of a star-gazer and would like to use the 'Mini-Observatory' , well you cant , it dosn't exist , and never has , the staff just looked confused when i asked , and this is a 'Feature' advertised in the SkyTours brochure!
My advice , upgrade Now to a 4 star hotel as this 3+ is more like a 2 star , better still cancel and re-book.
Thompson will totally sell you this as a great quiet get away for the family. "Yeah the Addams Family"

  • Advice: Dont Go There! - If your already tied into it , book a lot of trips and stay out of the resort as much as possible.
