This was a good little find. Cost me and mum a couple hundred pounds, for week half board in order to get some rest before Xmas.
We were in apartment which, meant that we could also keep lots of water in fridge and make coffee etc.
Weather wasn't great but think it is very much hit and miss at this time of year. Still managed to swim every day and caught a bit of sun.
Don't think I would go back as plenty more places to see, but definitely a success.

A really fantastic hotel. Large rooms, spotless, excellent maid service. The staff here go out of their way to help.
The hotel is nicely landscaped and right on the coast with a wonderful safe path which walks you to the beach and there are wild but tame chipmunks who live in the rocky shoreline here and they are great fun to watch!!
The resort of Caleta de Fuste was nice, everything you needed, but the man made beach was a little disappointing, no waves whatsoever but really safe for children to paddle in.
A great place to eat is the Restaurante Gambrinus, the food is fantastic and they cater for people with allergies and are really helpful, it is literally in the resort centre.
This is a really beautiful island and I would recommend hiring a car. The beaches in Jandia are wonderful but be prepared for very, very strong currents here.
The best beach visited was the one off the sand dunes near Correlejo truly beautiful with views over the island of Los Lobos. Caleta de Fuste was a great base to explore from, being really central.
This was a fantastic holiday, would definitely go back.

Castillo San Jorge is part of a three hotel complex and offers no nonsense, clean, basic accommodation. The pool is a little small but does have a nice bar and other pools are accessible at the adjoining hotels. There's a charge of 20Euro's for a safe deposit box for the week, which seemed a bit steep, but does give peace of mind. Bottom line I had no major issues with the hotel as a base for my holiday.
San Jorge is nicely situated in the resort. A "promenade" at the back gives a nice walk to the beach and a shopping centre beyond in one direction. In the other direction you can get views along the coast to Lanzarote. Of all the bars in the resort I only sampled one:-bar Havana. It has a nice candle lit rustic atmosphere by night and wall to wall Latino music. It is popular with the locals and the bar staff are friendly once they get to know you. Watching Spanish footy on Spanish telly, with the locals, was a novelty!
It is worth hiring a car to see the island:-autos Moreno were very helpful and friendly and the process straightforward. The mountain road to Betancuria is spectacular and there is an observatory at the top offering views over the whole island. Betancuria itself is a nicely kept village with a very Spanish feel (or should that be Canarian?) and has a number of craft shops. The road on to Pajara goes through the picturesque vega de rio Palmas. Even one day's car hire could take in the above, the dunes and port at Corallejo and maybe lunch at the quiet, unspoilt village of El Cotillo.
Alternatively, one hour's drive will take you to Jandia for lunch and then chill out on the miles of natural beach that the island is famous for. If you do hire a car, take a mobile phone (I didn't!). Even though it's a small island, if you do breakdown or get into trouble it can be a long walk to help along most of the roads!

Although turning up three hours before the official check in time, we were told that we could leave our luggage in a 'left luggage' room and were told to return in half an hour, we were then checked in quickly and courteously and with the minimum of fuss.
We found our room easily and were very pleased on what we found, it was large and very clean, everything we needed.
The only complaint regarding the room was that the balcony overlooked other balconies and vica versa. Which meant for the sake of privacy we were unable to open our curtains fully for the whole week. This problem would only occur if you had a room which faced another one of the hotels.
One other point to note is that in the mornings staff would go about their daily duties, because of the courtyards below the sound travelled and what seemed like a conversation felt like a shouting match and the wheels on trolleys sounded like a train passing outside the door.
Otherwise the complex was brilliant, three very different pool areas in regards to atmosphere, the resort was central to all activities, a 10 min walk to the sandy man made beach, 5 min walk to the centre of town, a nice costal path which lead you past the rocky coast line, past the chip monks, and onto the harbour area.
The resort caters for the majority of food taste, Chinese, Indian, American diners, Italian, Mexican, English, Spanish and Caribbean. There are many little bars dotted around we found a lovely little bar called Havana, well worth a visit, opposite the great wall Chinese restaurant down the stairs. Many gift shops selling mundane repetitive holiday products.
We can recommend the following excursions - scuba diving from the harbour, roughly £40, this lasted 2 hours and was well worth it. We also went on the whale, dolphin turtle watching catamaran, this cost £80, although we didn’t see any Wales or dolphins and a very dubious turtle!!!! But again just for the experience was well worth it.
We also decided to visit correleco on the local bus service, this was an experience in itself! A sort of queue greeted us at the bus stop, when the bus finally showed up, there was a mad scrum, to get on, we couldn’t get on one as it was full ( of people queue jumping) we had to change in the capital del Rosa, and then onto correleco. The bus driver didn’t let us down as he lived up to the stereo typical foreign bus driver.
To top off a lovely holiday there was also a courtesy room, where we showered and changed and didn’t have the normal 8 hour wait after check out, all hot and bothered before flying out.
The negatives were all very small negatives and we would recommend this hotel to anybody

We holidayed here this year and the kids had the time of their lives. The kids club run 6 days a week with Sergio and Maria. They were very pleasant and had all the time in the world for the kids. The kids club run 10.30 till 12.30pm then 3pm till 5.00pm which meant us adults had peace and quiet but with the knowledge they were in close distance to us. On the evening the kid’s entertainment started at 8.30pm till 9.30pm but the entertainment after the kids club could still join in and was great.
Overall the holiday was fantastic and very enjoyable we would definitely go again

Having booked a last minute deal with fist choice, we were amazed at the complex and the rooms upon arrival, we were taken to our room by the receptionist and the rooms are just brilliant, spacious and cleaned every day.
A one bed roomed apartment was just perfect, for myself and my husband and 2 boys, aged 10 and 5, we ate out every night, and the vast choice of lovely restaurants is amazing, the Mexican and the Chinese Hong Kong were brilliant and good value for money.
The complex its self is ace, with 5 pools and children’s and adults activities and entertainment, have booked again for 2007 for 18 of us for my husband's 40th so be prepared if you are there.

Just back from castillo san george part of the three interconnecting hotels .Really enjoyed it ,we were all inclusive and really got our moneys worth .The food was brilliant even to suit three really fussy children.
Steaks cooked to order and always a suitable children’s meal. The hotel was immaculate spottlessly clean.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The childrens entertainment was excellent with discos, parrot show, reptile shows and really enthusiastic caring kids club leaders.
We did not need to venture far as all we needed was catered for in the hotel. Although, must mention the catermeran excursion that was brilliant.

Our one bedroom apartment was more than adequate. The apartment was kept lovely and clean. Full sized bathroom, including bath, shower, bidet and the obligatory WC and basin. The electric hob was difficult to use and it wouldn't switch off sometimes. We did find it a little noisy between 6-7am with trolleys been pulled back and forth. However, this did not spoil our holiday.
The hotel was in a beautiful spot, very peaceful. Along the rocky coastline, we used to take nuts to feed the chipmunks.
For small children the beach is brilliant. No rough waves and gently shelving sea.
As we were self catering, it is always a bit of a worry when you have small children.
But no problem in Caleta de Fuste, plenty of places to eat (spoilt for choice). Our favourite was the Steak House and the Portuguese restaurant. We ate there many times. Only problem is you need to get to the steak house early, if you do not want to queue. Brilliant place for a quiet family holiday.

Absolutely loved it. The apartments were clean & there were plenty of amenities in the hotel. The resort was clean & free from louts!
Great for families & couples, but would suggest if you wanted a wild lads or girls holiday this is not for you. I would go back tomorrow if I could. Up and coming resort but has not yet been commercialised so you don't feel like you are in Blackpool!
Plenty of bars some open until 4pm but no nightclubs as such. Beaches are beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

Just got back from holiday with my partner and we really enjoyed it.
The hotel was stunning and really clean, staff were all really friendly and the location was perfect for nice quiet holidays we were seeking. We are seriously thinking about going back to the same place again in October or December.
Would definitely recommend to everybody looking for a nice and relaxing holiday in sun.

I stayed at the Elba Castillo Antigua & Suites for 2 weeks with my children and friend and her children. It was the best, the hotel was second to none.
Maid service every morning, we had the luxury of a sea view which was breath taking first thing in a morning. Transfer from the airport was approx 10 mins.
there are loads of places to eat out and a free bus daily which we took to go to Atlantico, a few miles away with loads of shops and a lovely deserted beach.
We have booked to go back here in Oct(06) and we cant wait...10 out of 10.

Third time to Fuerteventura and second time to San Jorge. Brilliant.
We stayed at Castillo Club de Barcelo last time, and I have to say it was poor - and more expensive than San Jorge - weird.
The apartment was very safe for my 18 month old. Very clean and well maintained. Has everything you could possibly need and reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Pools excellent.
We ate out every night - our favourite being the Italian in the centre of the resort. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Everywhere we went was lovely and the people are great. Very family and children orientated resort.
Beach brilliant for young children - can paddle for miles. Water sports good. Boat trip excellent - saw dolphins.
Resort has developed a lot since our first visit, but not too imposing. Loving the Burger King on the last day before flight home! Good selection of shops.
Jandia beautiful. Go - it's brilliant.
