Wow - I've won a pampering holiday. IT WAS TOO! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our short relaxing stay at the ex Rothschilds home. Area was lovely for walking and sightseeing. (we later visited New Forest that is spectacular too)
There was an inside pool and an outside one. The temperature was 30 degrees plus - yes honestly. We met some lovely people.
Salt is banned so we had to sneak to the local store to buy some. (my diver husband suffers cramps in his legs if he does not have some salt).
As most of the time is spent in dressing gown and slippers - Ed said to the waiter that the village must be used to seeing people strolling over the golf course and into the village dressed in this attire!! Waiter did not realise this was Geordie humour and said shocked " You can't go dressed like that." Thanks again Champneys.
Food was 5 star and it was all free to us so we lived it up.

I visited here on an overnight break with a friend. I was very disappointed as our room was an attic room with a tiny window and very very small. Very dated and the hallway had fake antique artwork with warped frames lining it. Yuk!! Not much guidance and pretty boring unless you intend to do classes. There appears to be no relaxing atmosphere and the whole building was freezing!
I would say this venue is definately a health farm rather than a relaxing retreat and would definately not go back. Staff look bored and demoralised and the place looks like it needs a complete overhall
