Solaris Apartments

My family and I (husband & 2 girls aged 12 & 9) have stayed at Solaris 3 years running and have booked again for 2011. There is something about this place that draws you back year after year. I always said that I would never go back to the same place for my holiday but when it comes to booking it I just can't risk going anywhere else. We book direct with Kostas who responds to all your enquiries very quickly and can also arrange transfers from and to the airport for you at an extra cost (no stopping to drop off holidaymakers at every hotel on the way which is a real bonus!). All the staff are fantastic and there's such a lovely family friendly atmosphere. There is plenty of shade around the 2 pools and you can get a sunbed at any time during the day so no getting up at the crack of dawn to put your towels down! The snack bar serves a wide variety of food, drinks and ice-cream and is reasonably priced. My kids love the milkshakes and fruit cocktails, speaking of which George makes the best Mojito ever! We stay in a superior 2 bedroomed apartment and think it is worth paying that little extra for a fortnights luxury! The apartment has everything you need (the shower is wonderful) and it's great that the kids have their own bedroom and don't have to sleep in the lounge which we have hated in the past. The maid is excellent with service 6 times a week. If you need any extra pillows or towels etc. you only have to ask.
Solaris is situated down a cobbled street off the quiet main road through Kassiopi. It is perfectly situated for all your needs and I highly recommend a visit to the bakery! The main square is about a minutes walk with a supermarket in the corner and about 3 mins walk from the harbour. There are about 3 large supermarkets in Kassiopi for your every day needs. The resort of Kassiopi itself is lovely village with a beautiful harbour and some of the best food I have ever eaten. I highly recommend Strofilia, Uncle Simos, Petrinos, Kassiopi Star and of course Yanis with its wonderful views of the sunset for a special night out. Even though the nightlife is bustling in the summer months we don't find it too noisy and busy, just the right kind of atmosphere I would say. Kassiopi is very safe for children and teenagers and we quite often send our girls to the shops and bakery for supplies. They even walk down to the harbour to grab themselves a Giro for lunch!
There are several beaches/coves around the headland and recommend Kalamaki beach for the day. It is a sandy, gently shelving beach with plenty of room for the kids to play, and you can't go past here without stopping at the ice cream parlour!
I highly recommend Solaris and Kassiopi for a great family holiday.

I have ticked the "would recommend" box for this review as the view from the Kassimi is amazing and so welcoming at any time of the day. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the rest of our stay. On arrival at the Kassimi our part of 14 were given the complete runaround, being sent to rooms that were already allocated, rooms that had no locks on the doors (resulting in being woken up several times during the night) and rooms that even had no door handles on. Two members of our party were in their seventies and had to move their cases up and down and up and down between the floors which was completely unreasonable. Within an hour of our arrival we were frustrated by Nicos's lack of interest and Kassimi was hence forth renamed "Fawlty Towers". The rep who arrive the next day was however excellent and dealt with all problems efficiently, which was good as we didn't see Nicos again until we checked out at the end of our holiday! Be aware that certain rooms have am extremely limited harbour view, looking onto wasteland, although you will be expected to pay the sea view supplement - something that Thomson really shouldn't be charging for anyway as all rooms are harhour facing. Nice littler earner there Thomson! I would recommend the Kassiopi as there is nothing to fault the resort on, however "Fawlty Towers" leaves a lot to be desired (and I haven't even mentioned the breakfasts!).

We stayed at these apartments in one of the superior ones which were very comfortable, clean and well equiped. Although there was not much of a view it was more than made up for by the excellent position and lovely poolside amenities. They are in a brilliant position with flat short walks to the harbourside, the beaches and the town. The owners who personally run the place and are there every day are lovely, friendly and would help with any requests. Will be returning.
One mention with regard to the organised trips by the local travel organisers. Due to the lack of tourists at this time if a trip was not full i.e. a trip to other side of the Island they would put you on another trip to make up the coach full and then you would be spending hours picking up and dropping off and maybe not getting the trip you requested. Also ensure you are on a comfortable air conditioned bus not a mini bus that we were put on!
Corfu beautiful place Kassioppi seemed the best position to us for all requirements i.e. lovely harbourside, bars and restaurants and beaches although they are pebbly not sandy there.

Kassiopi is the most friendly and safe place I have been. I have been going to Solaris Complex for the last 6 years and sometimes twice a year.
You always get a friendly welcome and there is always something to do. the pool is gorgeous and you cant help but jump in it. ive been to corfu for 6 years and am coming out this year on the 25th august cant wait to see evryone see you soon kostas. p.s my mate jade is coming out this year with me!

What a great place Corfu is. This was our first time Greek we normally go canaries, but wow what can I say.
The resort is great, so so friendly, all bars nice and close and no pressure to get you in, you can browse the menus outside and no one will bother you.
We stayed at the Eli which is a bit of a walk from the Solaris pool but found a short cut.
Nice 2 bed apartment which needed a bit of updating, but it was nice. Had a view of the harbour, and is a detached apartment out of the 2 of them and they are not close or joined, so we never saw or heard the people in the other apartment.
The 2 pools are nice, pool bar does snacks which are okay not the cheapest or best but if you want to stay round the pool all day, it’s good.
But the locals in Kassiopi are so friendly.
When I win the lottery I will buy a place here overlooking the harbour.

We have spent our summer holidays at Solaris apart-complex for the last 8 years. It is so easy to book through the Solaris Kassiopi website and when we arrive it really feels like home.
Kostas, Yannis or George are always waiting to welcome us and it is great to see old friends every year. Despite coming so often we never get bored! Solaris Greek night is wonderful, such a great atmosphere and there is always something different in the evenings. I am not very good at the quiz though! But my favorite part is being able to relax by the pool in the beautiful sunshine. Heaven!
We stayed at Solaris superior apartment, the accommodation was excellent, the location was perfect. We can not wait till next August!
