More Traveller Reviews of Eftalia Aytur Hotel
The worst hotel I have stayed at
from T0J0
The mistake people are making is compairing different Eftalia hotels the Aytur is NOT the Eftalia Resort it is a hotel on the Beach front on the east beach of Alanya in a great location opposite the beach the rooms are basic and the beds are uncomfortable the food is only edible at breakfast and the rest is just not palatable there is little or no entertaiment and this not a place to take children as there is only one pool and this is tiny and in the shade for half of the day and yes there are cats everywhere you look the only saving grace for this holiday was the beach (no. 5 beach to the left as you walk out is recomended) was great 10 quid for 2 beds and a parasol for the week and good food at the beach bar
A GOOD PLACE FOR FAMILIES TO VISIT
from DAVIDSUSAN
I have just returned from the hotel 01/06/07 and felt I had to write a review to tell people waht a great place it is. The hotel was really clean, the staff were friendly and the food was great. It is a fantastic place for families as there is so much to do for children. We mainly stayed at the water slide pool because you can relax whilst being in full view of where the kids are playing either football, tennis, basketball or having fun on the water slides. The hotel provide beach towels so there is no need to pack any. The rooms are spacious and ben linen is changed every other day. Clean towels were provided every day. The bathroom is well stocked with essentials and the shower is very powerful with a constant supply of hot water. Granted the entertainment was poor but it is just the same as most hotels I have visited - geared towards children, and if they are happy it makes for a good holiday. The only downside is the lack of English speaking staff but I'm sure this will improve with the popularity of the hotel and the regular visis from British guests. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap family holiday. Well worth visiting.
Love it

Stayed at the hotel Aytur Eftalia in May 2006 and we loved it., 2weeks wasn't enough the staff where great and helpfull the hotel was clean, true when we where there the cats where about and had kittens but never any trouble. Food was ok, as any large hotels catering. Yes at the moment it dose cater for the Germans Dutch Etc. so what we had a great time chatting to them all it was part of the holiday. Went back again in Oct 2006. again couldn't fault it. and we have booked again for May 2007. A holiay anywhere is what you make it and the staff at this hotel make the holiday.
would never go again not even for free

The hotel is very clean in the inside, The hotel rooms look clean untill you walk on your floor after a shower and your feet are black from where they havent moped the floor. The towels are changed every day BUT THERE IS NEVER A SHOWER CURTAIN as they are always cleaning it, and when you do have a shower curtain you have no shower matt. The pool well if you want a sun bed your best bet is to put your towel on it over night as that is when most put there towels out which is really annoying. The pool bar is constaly cover in glass so i surgest you wear wour flip flops whilst walking around. when we were in the pool i got glass in my foot so we didnt go in after that. And best of all my husband got the manger and asked him what he is going to do about it he said what can i do. another thing about the pool leave the shallow end alone with the sunbeds as they have water polo and they dont care how hard they throw the ball or who they hit with it. plus when we were there they knocked over good knows how many tables of glasses and the guy who was watching didnt bother clearing up the mess so it was left for people to walk in. well next the food well i was on a diet for the two weeks if it wasnt used at lunch it was re served at dinner it was constantly boiled chicken and rice no chips n no potatoes and when there wass they were never cooked or cold. One thing i can say for the place the resturant staff are brillant and try to do there best for you. Receiption dont speak any english apart from the swear words. And you are lucky if you can find any britsh tourist in the resort when we were there, there was about 20 out of the 2000 staying. I can honsetly say i would go back there even if it was free hope this helps n if you are going there id cancel and book else where, Also its a 4 start rating but i wouldnt say it was
Don't know what you are all moaning at.

My husbnd and I had a wonderful time. We were there because we needed a well earned rest after my husband's stroke in Jan 2006. Food was great and plentiful. There ware no cats like one reviewer said there was. We had some building work going on in front of our hotel but it didn't bother us and we were pre-warned of this. In fact it was quite entertaining. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Staff were helpful and very friendly. We reccomend the turkish bath and massage. There's a gym as well. Pools are large but the indoor one is very cold. At night there is a disco for the kids and shows, there was a bingo night and an adults disco. If you don't believe our review just try the hotel for yourself.
It aint hat bad

Stayed here last sumer , was just browsing around the forums and came across it, anyway, the hotel does cater mainly for the German element however this whole side of turkey is more popular with the Europeans rather than the Brits, personally i enjoyed it here, no boisterous lager louts at nightwas great compared with marmaris and the like, Food was very samey but at the end of the day you dont go on holiday to stay within the hotel every night so there are plenty of little restaurants around with excellent value for money. Especially the one heading toward the centre of Alanya, cant remember the name but do remember that there are grape vines grownig all round the area you sit in. Just about 100 yards from hotel if that, The bar down from there excellent to think its called the london underground or similar. So to sum it up the hotel is clean, rooms are plain , food is average if you want to eat it for 2 weeks, but i would recommend it, what i also do recommend is the cut throat razor shave at the on site barber, If you have booked this hotel do not take the trips from your rep, we were quoted 35 pounds a trip roughly but down the street we done 5 trips in total including an overnight stay at pammukale for about 50 quid each.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday in this hotel, has to be the worst food in the whole of Alanya, cats on the tables in the dingroom you dare not take your eyes of your food or they were away with it, surprised they ate it as most of the food was unedible, was no use complaining to the staff as they have no English but if you can speak German you might get somewhere with them, 14 days of chicken for dinner and 14 days scrambled or boiled eggs take it or leave it, great holiday if you need to lose weight.
cold food... old food !

I have just returned from a week at Eftalia Resort in Alanya, this was probably the worst weeks 'HOLIDAY' i have ever had. The hotel itself was large, clean, but not idealy suited to british tourists, unless you are multi lingual... because the british are few and far between at this hotel!. Now to the restaurant...if you want to lose weight then this is for you because once you have sampled the cold disgusting offerings in this hotel then you wont want to eat again!. Tomato soup... every meal...chips, shrivelled up 'about 3 days old' judging by the look, lack of taste, and the temperature! chicken burgers..luke warm at lunch then same burgers on a cold buffet at tea time...YUK...then a variety of limp salad...and stewed spam.. or fried spam or spam in scrambelled eggs oh the joy of it all! So all i can say is Dont GO to Eftalia Resort... pay extra and go to a place recomended by other people.. not by your travel agent!
Cheap without the cheerfull

Just returned from this hotel after a two week stay and truthfully if I had used this hotel on my first visit to Alanya I would never have returned to the resort. The hotel staff were very unfriendly with the exception of the young man who cleaned our room daily. The breakfast catered for the Germans and was the same every day, a toaster would have been nice. Dinner was always cold as they put the food out 30 minutes before serving (this was covered with newspaper to keep it warm!!!), also, the salad was put out two hours before serving without refrigeration. Dinner was served at 7.30pm - 9.30pm the first week, then for some obscure reason it changed to 5.30pm - 7.30pm from the 30th October for the winter. It felt more like school dinners. Most holiday makers would like to enjoy eating from 7pm with a nice bottle of wine, 5.30pm and wine feel a bit early for me. Take note if you don't go for dinner at 5.30pm there will be very little left by 6.30pm. and they start clearing at 7.20pm. The hotel is overrun with cats and they ARE allowed into the dining room. They do tend to get a lot of feeding from the German guests, so at least they are happy. The cats get to sleep on the chairs and the sunbeds, so try not to wear good clothes at this hotel. If you have children, the play area is used as a toilet to the cats, so be carefull. The staff have almost no English, but will communicate with you in German. The bathrooms are very small and having a shower was a challenge. No shower curtain!! which resulted in the floor swimming, this made the floor very slippery. Staying at this hotel was not a pleasant experience and will teach me never to book 3 star, always go for 4 or more stars. One plus for this hotel was the fact that we got clean towels every day, even if they were rather grey/white and well used.

Hotel Aytur (Eftalia was added later) has 228 rooms, and is situated in the resort of Alanya which is a 2 HOUR drive from the airport. The resort caters mainly for Germans, then Dutch and Scandavians, and this is reflected in the residents of the hotel. ROOMS 'Compact' with a fridge, t.v. (you have to ask for an English speaking channel), safety deposit box (£10 per week) and a shower (without a screen). Go for sea view rather than pool view. Rooms cleaned daily. POOL Smallish (22 metres by 12 metres) and 5 feet deep at the most. Sunbathing is fine until mid afternoon when the sun is obscured by the hotel buildings. FOOD Adequate, but unimpressed with the quality or choice. If you want an English Breakfast, or Ice Cream, you've come to the wrong place. Even the toaster was broken during my stay, but if you like salads you'll enjoy this hotel. Beer is cheap, approximately £1.60 in the Hotel, but like the rest of the resort, alcoholic drinks, mainly their local brands, are VERY expensive. Beer elsewhere in the resort can vary from 60p to £5 a pint, the higher price being in the local Harbour area, where there is some form of nightlife. SHOPS Ony a 20 minute walk into the main town where there are HUNDREDS of shops, but you have the run the gauntlet daily of shop keepers and restaurant staff pestering you to use their premises. Take a bus into town - it's dirt cheap. Everywhere you go, the locals are extremely friendly, particularly if you're spending money in their premises. They tend to lose interest if you're not. There is also a small Aquapark in the centre of the town. ENTERTAINMENT Little in the way of entertainment in the Hotel with only the occasional act on. BEACH The hotel is situated just the width of the road away from a beautiful sandy beach. Remember to buy tickets for the sun beds from the hotel, where these are cheaper. Plenty of cheap jet skis, parasailing, banana boats etc. available. FACILITIES The massages and Turkish Baths at the Hotel are cheap and certainly recommended. CURRENCY You can spend Euros, Lira, Sterling US Dollars, the locals will take EVERYTHING, except Scottish currency. OVERALL The Hotel was clean, well situated as far as the resort was concerned, and for a cheap, last minute deal, was more than adequate. However, I had expected that if it was used primarily by Germans that the standard would have been much better.
After arriving at 04:00 in the morning we were taken back outside onto the street and shown into a room in the next building that has a different hotel name over the entrance. This room was very small and old looking, so we complained the next morning and got moved into a... more
