Read the reviews and take note. This place is an hell hole. I've travelled to many destinations and don't expect anything more than clean and basic. The Dimis was neither the rooms were filthy the staff awful and the whole place had a feeling of unrest. I stayed for one night of the fourteen I had paid for and was glad to get out. Do yourself a favour and stay away. Rating got 1 because it wouldn't let me give it 0.

  • Advice: The Dimis should be demolished.

As a gift for my daughter who just had been through six months of health issues, me and her dad gave her a well earned holiday to laganas. We had flown out the week previous to my daughter holiday staying at the majestic spa. But by the time I went to book for my daughter they were no availability at the our hotel. The Dimis was described as as clean, lively three star hotel close to the stripe. On the day my daughter arrived we went to meet her at the dimis, We asked the receptionist if my daughter had arrived. His poor English caused communication problem and took us nearly five minutes to explain our question. While he went to inform my daughter we were at the front desk, I became aware of the terrible strong smell of urine, stench from the lack of cleaning. I could not help but notice a rust or peach coloured settee in the main reception was all broken with the arm lying on a filthy floor and appeared to have dried in stains all over. I seen a couple take a key and go into what looked like a rusty cabinet full of little boxes which I later found out to be safety boxes which stood alone against the wall near the exit door and not within the reception area. My daughter asked me to go to her room due to her being upset and shocked with her sleeping conditions. The stairs case up to the first floor was badly stained with spillages and broken tiles and stairs causing sharp edges. The bedroom door seemed to have expanded and took some force to open rubbing of the floor tiles and ill fitting when closed moving around giving the feeling of insecurity. The studio with kitchenette consisted of a rusty two ringed camp stove sat upon a dirty, stained three feet worktop, a white plastic kitchen swing bin which was all broke, the four bits of different cutlery within a filthy draw which had food spillages and a terrible smell. The two single beds were white wooden frames which were all scratched with the paint coming off, smeared with blood and other things which I will not explain, the sheets were all stained despite looking laundered, they had a yellow glow on closer examination it highlighted the yellow glow was the pillows within which were all brown and stained. the mattresses were all stained and had no protective covers. The wall were also painted white and a dark stained wooden ceiling and dark wooden shutters leading to the balcony. The white walls were badly stained with blood and faeces with used plasters above the headboard of the bed. The electric plugs were lose fitting in the wall and loose wires were seen sticking out of the plug. The bathroom/shower room was in approx five feet by five feet area with a lime green shower unit which was uncleaned and covered in mildew with a terrible smell, the shower head wad broken with no spray nozzle in place, the bracket holding the shower head was also broken, the soap holder was also hanging off the stained tiled wall. The sink taps were all discoloured and above on the wall was placed a double mirrored rusty unit. To the point that it was no longer shown your reflection. The toilet pan was so dirty that we thought something had fell down as the water was dark brown we a terrible strench of urine.
On our way to reception to complain about the room and lack of facilities we seen three cleaners sitting smoking in a cupboard/closet room and no cleaning being carried out.
We spoke to the manager who had started at twelve o,clock and asked for the room to be cleaned and the shower fixed he informed us he would get house keeping on to it and that a plumber would be called to fix the shower. We went outside to the pool area where the rest of the family were standing at the bar/cafe'y area. The chairs were made of wicker material which had all ripped along the top at the back were badly stained and filthy. My three year old granddaughter had sat on one, when I took her off in case she fell through it, her white shorts were no longer white, they were three stray cats which the bar tender had befriended by giving them a meal roaming the eating area. All three appeared to have eye infections and came up to seek food from you. The pool had a three inch green/black line on top of the water indicating that it had not been cleaned in weeks/months. There was a snooker table and tables in the shaded part of the hotel which also were all broken and the felt on the snooker table being badly stained with spillages. I could not believe that this hotel is aloud to operate and take in paying guests. You should be paid to stay there. That night my daughter had to shower in my hotel as the shower was still not fixed. In the morning I went back to the Dimis to see my daughter as we could not reach the hotel rep the night before. My daughter had informed me that the manager had taken her passport and put it in a drawer in case they were any breakages. She was covered in bites all over body, which appeared to be flea bites. She had been woken during the night with groups of young women and men shouting and screaming at each other outside her bedroom door. They were banging on her door and appeared to have very drunk. They were no security in place and my daughter was quite intimidated by the crowd I spoke to the hotel manager in respect to my daughters accommodation and the lack of cleanliness and broken shower. Again we were told this would be put write and offered a security deposit of fifty pounds as we felt the passport was not safely stored in a unlocked drawer. We again asked for the shower to be fixed and the room to be cleaned None of this was done come mid afternoon. We were left with no option rather than move my daughter to another hotel which all in cost another two hundred pounds due to cancellation charges being paid to the dimis. Could not believe you need to pay not to stay there as well. When my daughter went to check out they told her they did not have her fifty pounds security money and wrote a I,O,U as the manager again would not be starting his shift until twelve o'clock. If she was flying home she would not have got this back. We returned later and finally got the deposit back. Truthfully I feel if myself and husband had not been present the deposit would not have been returned.
This hotel should not be operating due to the lack of sanitation and run down, not maintained building. To cap it they also have dimis two opposite dimis one, so save yourselves the despair and heartache, risk of ill health and do not book this hotel.

  • Advice: totally refurbished and sanitized. A manager who wants to manage a hotel, housekeeping that actually clean, better security especially at night

if i could give this place a scoring below zero i would. i read the reviews thinking this hotel could never be as bad as the reviews but it really is!
/Dennis
What a pleasure this man was, he didnt know of mannors are being able to be nice an example of this is if u wanted the computer his answer was no as he wanted to play on it, want to play pool dennis will shove all the balls down the pocket. he takes peoples pasports in order to skank guests out of more money,a group of boys had all valubles stolen so contcted the police however on leaving dennis refused to return passports as the door was damaged and he wanted 100 euros the lads protested and showed him the police report his reply was he didnt care and no money meant no passport
/food
this so called selfcatering apartment contained only a fridge and u you were lucky one heated ring, a fork, teaspoon, plate and pans all dirty so if u want a warm drink no chance, if u want cereal its out of a dirty pan with a tea spoon and any hot food means no chance. We had no heated ring sohad to use shower water in attempts to heat them up.
/Rooms
At first dennis stated he had no room even tho we had proof of booking, after ten minutes he finally gave us a room.
The bedding was dirty on arrival and never cleaned once in the week, you get one set of towels that get neverchanged, the bin gets full but guess what never changed. you use all the toilet roll tough luck you wont get anymore.the shower head was on the shower basin no bowl. the shower was dirty and so was the sink and toilet. the cabinet was rusty and had no front. And the rooms were covered in cobwebs.Oh and not forgetting the doors that only need a kick to open.
/Pool
the dirty pool was never cleaned and paint from the floor was always coming off. there were no parasol and every sunbed was damaged.
/Belongings
Do not leave anything unattended as it will not be there on return, euroes, pounds, wallets, ipods and cameras

The worst hotel I've ever stayed in - wouldn't recommend it if they paid me.

Overall, the holiday was amazing! The hotel however, was a different story. We arrived there and one passport was taken to be put in an unlocked drawer as a deposit (incase we broke anything during our stay). While waiting for the receptionist to get organised we noticed the flimsy steel drawers - the safety deposit boxes!! And they were charging 10 euros a week for something that would have been safer in my locked suitcase!! We then went to go to our room - we were shown up but all 4 girls were left to carry our cases upstairs by ourselves (and back down again as we left). We got to our room and he opened the door and left - we took our shoes off and chose our beds - by the time I'd run acroos the small room, my feet were black with filth from the floor. The beds were far from comfortable and my sheet had a big stain on side of it - I tried not to think what it oculd be. We then spent the best part of an hour trying to work the lights - we had to fiddle with the fuse box to get it working - not ideal or very safe. We soon realised it was hardly "self catering" as we had a small fridge freezer which we tended to keep water in and a tap - and that was it - no hobs, no kettle, just a tap and a fridge freezer. We had read the reviews of things being stolen so we decided to keep most stuff locked in our suitcases when we left the room and luckily our stuff was safe there. We had also seen reviews of cockroaches and when we saw the drain in the bathroom we weren't surprised why - it was broken with plenty of room for more than cockroaches to climb in through. Every night, people (and sometimes even the night staff) would bash on our door - during our stay, my friend became very ill with sun stroke and she spent close to 2 days (and nights) in bed - not helped by, when after paying for 2 days of air con we were all scared awake (at 1:30/2ish in the morning) by someone bashing on the door - then the turn of keys in the lock. No "hello?", nothing. He then continued to let himself in and take our air con fuse - despite having paid for another 24 hours!! Then, the following day I went to buy more air con and I was waiting to be seen. However, I waited a while as the receptionist had lost the passport of the girl infront of me - not promising. The bar was really overpriced and (especially for the price of the food) it was not nice. We spent most meals at Niko's (a small cocktail bar 5-8 min walk from Dimis). A wonderful cheap place with really nice food and staff. We spent most days pushing a stool against our door as it didn't close unless we locked it. The toilet was beyond foul - being someone who likes to be prepared, I had brought floor, toilet and surface wipes with me - but that shouldn't have been my job to clean. Sheets and towels were not changed (even after requested) and toilet roll was only replaced on a few occassions - I ended up taking toilet rolls out of the cupboard that was left open as we'd run out and since there were 4 of us, the toilet was going to be needed before too long. We spent most nights hearing our neighbours break chairs and bet each other money to drink each other's urine - I expected noise, but I expected a certain element of respect for others - I was wrong. We awoke to spit on our door and on the handle - and I dread to think what else!! The pool wasn't cleaned while we were there, and the (I think it was paint) had started to peel off the floor of the pool and was floating around, making the floor of the pool rather nasty to stand on. On our last day, while waiting for the taxi to the airport, I saw a sign that said that no soft drinks were allowed to be taken to the rooms that weren't bought at the hotel bar - I can not see how that classes as self catering. The hotel was the worst part of the holiday. There were no pharmacys around so I recommend you over pack on ALL medications - other than sun cream and bite cream (not the hotel this time, but it was really overpriced). If I'd have known, I would have spent more money on a better hotel. 3/10 is being generous.

  • Advice: If you stay at Dimis, take cleaning wipes, toilet rolls, towels and bed sheets. Go to Niko's for meals as the quality is better than that at the pool bar (Pepe's Bar)

So awful a hotel we went home

I just returned from what was planned to be a 10 night holiday in the hotel.
However, everything was so bad that me and the group i was travelling with were urged to leave early.
Everything about the hotel is disgusting. Some staff don't speak English and don't know what a smile is.
The pool is absolutely terrible, murky water and (i suspect) not a correct amount of chlorine in the pool, old plasters, leaves and insects in there everyday.
Then the rooms...absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was horrible with a basic shower, moulder plastic shower rail, unclean toilet and rusted mirror, which was complimented by the previous users' toothpaste still in there after they had moved out.
On top of that the balcony barely fits 4 people (the maximum number the room can house), the bed sheets were not clean when we moved and, there were numerous insects creeping around the room whilst we were asleep and the air conditioning was not included in the price.
All clothing space was restricted to one wardrobe, and 3 chest of drawers all of which were extremely dusty and in need of a clean.
The fridge didn't work properly, and we were not provided with a proper hob just a basic portable set top unit. The cutlery and cups provided were also not clean and no ashtray was provided.
On top of this was the constant fear that we would be broken in to due to the door not closing properly from the moment we moved in.
Overrall an absolutely dispicable hotel, we stayed because we couldn't afford anymore. Trust me even if you have to pay alot more money for a better hotel, it's WELL worth it, as this is an absolutely truly terrible hotel that doesn't deserve to still be standing.
We had enough after 4 nights, and you will aswell if you stay here, avoid at all costs.

metal bar man

Jul 2011, Billzones

come in early one morning making a fair bit of noise, only to be greeted by the security guard tapping a metal bar up and down against his hand. we found this rather amusing so chuckled away when he decided to run at us and try to attack us with the bar. we found this rather intimidating so decided to run back to are room and hide, to find the guard trying to smash the door down. he eventually managed to get into the room which left us no choice to jump into the pool from the balcony and sleep on the beach for the night!

Good Holiday, Appauling Hotel

Jul 2011, Rich

This place has by far the worst rooms I have ever stayed in and I have travelled a fair amount. I am not a fussy person and have stayed in plenty of basic, low budget appartments and hotels in the past. I was expecting Dimis to be basic but it is just downright dirty and grotty. The rooms are in a very very poor condition with dirty wooden panels on the ceiling, filthy walls and extremely un-comfortable beds. The bed I was sleeping in was absolutely disgraceful, covered in all sorts of stains and even crawling with bugs! It was so bad I even slept on the floor one night! The bathroom is also very dirty and un-hygenic. The toilet cistern was hanging off, the sink and shower were stained and there was never any hot water. Not to mention a 4 inch hole in the floor which absolutely stank. The electrical wiring in the room was atrocious and there were exposed 230V connections everywhere, even in the bathroom! The staff are beyond rude and extremely un-helpful. Our room was only ''cleaned'' once during our entire stay and all 3 of us had to share one towel. I saw 3 rats running right past our ground floor room which isn't surprising as there are exposed sewers behind the rooms on the ground floor. Don't even think about using one of the ''safes'' provided by the hotel, they are nothing more the a thin steel drawer with a very weak lock on. Whats more they are all kept in the lobby and all have visible signs of forced entry. Passports are also just kept behind reception in an open drawer. The only thing this place has going for it in my opinion is the pool bar which has 2 big TV's and a good selection of nice food and drinks for fairly reasonable prices. Also, the staff round the pool bar are far more friendly than the miserable, rude receptionists. Dimis, as you would expect is just full of chavvy, ****** up teeny boppers who can't handle their booze so dont expect to get any peace and quiet during your stay here. My advice would be to spend a bit more money and stay somewhere half decent because this place is horrendous.

  • Advice: Visit Golden Sands bar on the beach. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, the food is great and its only 1 Euro 50 for an ice cold pint of lager.

we read the reviews before we went and were really worried about what people had written. some things are true like your sheets dont get changed but they do come in and clean up and change bins. to be fair you go to zante for a clubbing holiday not to chill out so it didnt really bother me we werent even in that much! its a place to sleep. the pool was good and good music all day long. the worst thing was that it wasnt that close to the beach but taxis were cheap. id reccomend people to stay here for a cheap holiday.

Hamster House.....

Aug 2010, chicken and rice

right....after reading all the reviews i thought what a load of old tosh and didnt think it could actually be that bad. however the reviews were quite right, although it wasnt all that bad.
6 of us girls went for 2 weeks and only once was our rooms cleaned, and still they were disgusting. our door didnt lock properly, the safes where downstairs which we refused to use and there was cobwebs in our room. there was a load of serbians there and fair enough that isnt a problem but at 6 in the morning when they are playing there heavy metal music it isnt ideal. the sunbeds, oh dont even get me started! they give us all back ache.
also be aware of a man 5ft 6, glasses, funny looking, smell of b.o. he is a pervert. he would come knocking on our door at 4 in the morn and actually come in when we were in bed!
we actually called our rooms HAMSTER HOUSE as they were ming. no proper ceiling, tiniest shower, dirty, etc.
also the pool discoloured all our bikinis!
however pepes bar which is the pool bar is really good and pepe is so nice pumping his biceps at all hours of the day! and we had such a laugh the whole time!
all in all we wouldnt return to the hotel thank you very much. but zante and the nightlife was amazing.

  • Advice: go to the ultimate party! Amazing.

Don't be fooled by this years ratings!

Jul 2010, Danea

Don't be fooled by this years ratings the hotel is still as bad!
on arriving the rooms were dirty and beyond basic! i asked for some clean sheets and was told i would have to wait until the morning! the bathroom was discusting- the toilet was black and the shower didn't work properly.
I wasn't keen on the fact the safes were in full view in the lobby so everyone-including the staff could see what was going in and out.
the smell from the toilets which were outside our room was horrendous and physically made you wrech when walking past them.
The maids only visited us once, and to be honest i would rather they hadn't i was in the bathroom when they just wandered in without warning. My friend was getting changed and they kindly left the door wide open for any passers by to see in and my other friend was still asleep when they pretty much dragged the sheet from underneath her!
the pool area was o.k. Again not too clean but accepable, can't say i saw it cleaned in the week we were there.
the noise was terrible at night- i understand it is a 'party place' and you have to expect it however we had booked on the shipwrecked trip(also- don't book this trip- not what it seems. 9hrs on a boat and you can get trips cheaper on the strip) and had to and out for half 8. the noise was from about 3am right through the night so we were all shattered on the trip.
the rep wasn't great either, when we told him about all the stuff that was wrong with the rooms he didn't really do all that much about it just seemed more interested in selling us the trips.
The school disco is good fun- but not worth the 30 euros you pay unless you drink like a fish!
if you want a good day out go down to the beach and hire a little speed boat- 15 euros for 2 hours and it was great fun- can go turtle spotting or to a little island and have a swim! was deffinately our best day.
Laganas overall is pretty good- just like any other party place but the hotel left alot to be disired! Would avoid it like the plaugue!

Awful!

Jul 2010, ALH

After reading the reviews on this site, I thought "people love to whinge, its proberly not that bad"...but it was worse than expected. Outside our room was the reception, this area stunk of urine and faeces. The room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard, my feet were dirty again 2 minutes after stepping out of the shower because of the filth and our towels and bedding were only changed once. The light fittings and plug sockets were hanging off the walls, there was a massive spiders web full of dust and squashed mosquitos on the walls and ceilings. The door lock was falty and had to be changed. The safe was basically a draw with a lock and was in the main reception area. two groups of lads we met there got moved as they claimed to have seen rats, and my friends were rudely interupted by maids going in their room changing their sheets (for once) whilst one was still in bed and the other was stood naked!!! We still enjoyed the holiday cause we stayed out of the hotel most of the time, but I would recommend you stay somewhere else, as I had a throat infection when I got home and I blame it on the disgusting conditions of the room. Also just to let you know, there was about 10 guys to every 1 girl in this resort.
