Went to Hendra holiday park on fri 8th may 2009 until the monday with the sun holiday vouchers got there and checked into the caravan early although we could use the facilties until our caravan was ready. The caravan was very clean and the caravan park was lovely our 6 year old loved the park the oasis swimming pool was great although you had to pay for it it's a shame it isn't free for people staying at the site bit hey you can't have everything. Would def stay at this site again it was about a 5 min drive to the beach which was beautiful and also close to the town my husband has just told me to mention that the beer at the tavern bar was not very good so he had to drink bottles which were more expensive. Found a great pub right by the park where the food and beer were great called the kings head well worth a visit.

Second visit to Hendra and had a superb week over Easter with sister and family. Weather fantastic, caravan was excellent with central heating and double glazing a huge bonus, had everything. Can't fault anything on the park, staff really friendly and helpful, facilities we used all excellent and those we did not use looked great. Although park was obviously busy we where suprised how peaceful it was. Family loved it and we definetly recommend Hendra to everyone, great location for visiting everyhting, we went to Eden, Kingsley Village, great local restaurant by the boating lake. On-site shuttle bus into town is great, good local pub too, and whilst the on-site shop is good, Morrisons is only down the road!

could not get on the pitch until the two idiots left at 3 45 pm. They should of been off for 10am. Several phone calls to the warden, waste of time.Spineless. Signs all over the place saying"respect your neighbours", its a bit rich when hendra disrespects its customers. If you have constipation while on holiday, might i suggest a natural remedy,Its called Fish and Chips from the onsite takeaway. Three out of four who ate it were very soon talking to huey on the big white telephone.

The site was large, really nice and well maintained.
The kids loved the indoor pool, and had a couple of hours in there everyday (this isn't free, although it's slightly discounted for site members).
The shop was really well stocked, and pretty reasonable.
I can't comment on the bars/club as we didn't use them, but they seem really popular, with people queing up from about half six for a table!
There is a takeaway onsite, which does hotdogs etc, which was fine, but the fish n chips were expensive and were really lousy!
My kids enjoyed the amusement arcade, and there was a small bowling alley too. There is also a small outdoor play area, with climbing equipment etc.
There is also a large playing field attached to the site, if the kids fancy a game of footy.
Now for the caravan! We hired a Tolcarne 3, which although not top range cost us about £1200 for 9 nights. I have stayed in lots of static caravans, and can honestly say that this was probably the worst. We were unlucky enough to have a fair bit of rain on our holiday. The caravan was very damp. Even with the fire on and the small (not very hot) bedroom heater we could not dry it out, and clothes that were dry when put in the wardrobe in the main bedroom ended up damp. There was a damp smell, and it was near impossible to get coats dry etc.
The matresses on all the beds were quite dirty and bobbled, which I felt a bit uneasy about for the kids. Usually when we stay in caravans we are provided with duvets, but each bed had just two woollen blankets. (We hired sheets and pillow cases). On the first night my children were freezing, and we ended up going to buy sleeping bags. So if youre going to Hendra TAKE SLEEPING BAGS WITH YOU. Again it was hard to stop the bedding getting damp. Worryingly, my ten yr old daughter had about four days where she developed a spotty rash first on her face and arms, and then on her legs , which I'm pretty sure were bites....and they seemed to get worse each morning when she got out of bed. In the end I swapped beds with her just incase there was something in there. As soon as we came home they disappeared!
Incidentally, check your item list as soon as you get into the caravan. We were missing a kettle, and the glass from the oven door was on the floor awaiting repair, so we had to phone straight down to the office.
Although I have had a big moan about the caravan itself, my family still enjoyed their holiday, and there's loads to do around Newquay. If you have young kids take them to Dairyland world.......we paid £32 for five of us, but could go back whenever we wanted for a week...defo had our money's worth! The site is quite far from the beaches - you will need a car to get about, although I believe there is a bus that runs from Hendra into the town/beaches.
Better add - I'd be reluctant to let young kids wander about this site to the shops etc unsupervised, simply because of the volume of traffic driving around the place. It's not the sort of place they can cycle about in etc - its busy.

My husband, myself, and twins aged 5 have recently stayed at Hendra for a long weekend.
We stayed in a basic caravan which I thought was extremely well equipped (microwave, toaster etc) and found it to be very clean.
The onsite facilities were very good especially the swimming pools. The outdoor pool was shut as it is out of season, but it looked lovely. The indoor heated pool was great fun especially for the kids, with 3 fun water slides to choose from. The changing rooms and showers were clean and tidy also. You do have to pay to use the pool, and get a discount if you are staying on site.
There were a couple of play areas for the kids which were good and an amusements also! We did find it to be quite noisy at night and that was not in peek season, so I should imagine it is worse when warm and full up!
There were a couple of supermarkets just down the road as well as the one on site and the beach and other attractions within a short drive.
Although the site was very good and we could not fault it, we were not impressed with Newquay and will probably stay in another area of Cornwall next time!

This holiday park/campsite is a must for any families planning a holiday in Newquay!
The park itself is full of activities to keep the kids busy and with its great location everything is within easy reach, e.g. shops, beach, restaurant and tourist attractions.
We stayed in one of their superior caravans and it was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. We paid for extra early check in but when we arrived the caravan wasn't ready, however we did receive some free vouchers for the pool.
The park despite its size is surprisingly quiet except for the seagulls landing on the caravan roof!
Overall we were very happy with the accommodation, facilities, staff, and entertainment.
The only complaint was the price of the takeaway food but as we only ate there once it wasn't too much of an issue.
We're planning another trip to Hendra but this time we're going to try camping.

Had a truly fantastic time. The site was well located for access to shops and the beach both a very short drive. The site was exceptionally clean and had a great fun pool.
The site staff were all helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone with young children.
Only down side was large number of arcade machines which can become expensive. Ha ha.
Would recommend a visit to Newquay zoo and blue reef aquarium both very close and great fun. Think we benefited from going slightly out of season as can imagine the area being less appealing when heavily trafficked.
However you really can’t afford to miss the sunshine, as this makes the days out on the beautiful beaches much more appealing. The caravans were very basically fitted out but were very comfortable and clean with large grassy play areas outside. All adds up to a great family resort.

Me and my family had a great time at Hendra, this is the second time we have been and will be going next year with friends. Really good camping holiday the best we have been to. So far my 14 year old spent most of his time in the pool, while my 6 year old played in the play area. We went to watergate beach which is lovely about 20mins drive from Hendra.

My daughter and her fiancee paid 24.50 a night to put up our small dome tent. They have been put in an overflow field with a very tiddly port-a-loo, lots of noisy drunks and no other facilities. They were charged full price when they booked for the week so cannot afford to move. No-one told them they would not be on the main site.
I'm waiting to see what happens.

Hendra is excellent!
We camped in June for 11 nights and it was great. Pool lovely (not heated outside though) but I didn't mind as I like a cold pool.
Supermarket reasonable, but a Morrison’s and Aldi and McDonalds about 2 minutes away anyway. Drinks in the clubhouse are city prices, but what do you expect for a holiday park? (£11 bottle of wine, £3 for a pint). The entertainment was good too.
Toilets and showers are first class.
Only thing that annoyed me was the seagulls, squawking from about 5am, but that’s not Hendras fault.
All in all, an excellent holiday, will be returning next year without a shadow of a doubt.

Me and my family went to the hendra hoilday park in newquay this year there was 4 adults and 3 chidren. When we arrived we were booked in to our caravan and it said in the brochue it was a senna 8 birth there was no way it was an 8 birth it was tiny. So we rang reception to see if we could either down grade or upgrade to a bigger caravan with more living space they said there was nothing avalible. We thought we wud try reception face to face surely there must of been a vacant caravan. After talking to reception who were very helpfull told us with a charge of £35 pound more we could have a pentire caravan which when we went to look at it was loads bigger and more space for us all. The caravan was clean and i couldnt find any fault with it. The evening entertainmemt was very good for the kids and the entertainment staff were brillant with the kids. They had adult entertainment too which was a laugh couldnt fault any thing wrong with it the kids were happy we were happy. We didnt eat in the resturant there but we did have a marios pizza twice when we were there and i recommend anyone to go there the pizzas are lovley. Overall hendra is a clean safe and entertaining place to go on your hoildays and would definatly go back again.
