Tony and Avril made us feel very welcome and the room we had, although in the annexe, was ultra modern and comfortable. The welcome that they gave us was wonderful and felt very much home from home. We wanted to book again for our last night in Ireland, but had left it too late and they were fully booked, which wasn't a surprise. Avril gave us another place to try, which was helpful and thoughtful. They set the standard that we compared all the other places we stayed at, whilst in Ireland and no one can beat Avril's homemade scones.....scrumptious. Would definitely stay there again and pre-book next time.

  • Advice: Lot's of places and views to enjoy.
  • Activities: As we only had a one night stay, we're unable to say, as we didn't have time to compare.
  • Board Basis:Bed & Breakfast
  • Tour Operator:Booked Independently

Our whole family stayed last November...

Apr 2007, Mrs C Foster

Our whole family stayed last November for a few nights before my sister went to Australia.
The hosts were extremely friendly and the rooms were fantastic. Not to mention the breakfasts!
But overall Tony & Avril made the holiday. Hoping to revisit this year.

We stayed at the Fernroyd from 2nd - 5th Dec 2005.
Fernroyd Guesthouse is run by Tony & Avril Lyons. Two of the most lovely people i have ever met.
The guesthouse is superb in every respect - very clean, very modern, comfortable, excellent food & service....The best hospitality i have ever experienced.
The bedrooms consist of a double & single bed and a huge wardrobe - with plenty of hangers! The corner power shower is too die for! Rooms come with TV, central heating and Tea/Coffee making facilities.
The Guesthouse is situated opposite the University....Is a 10min drive from the airport and a Taxi costs around 15euro (one way) Which i recommend taking if you have a suitcase - otherwise you will have to trawl through the city with it - which isn’t a good idea.
The Guesthouse is situated about 10mins walk into the City. Out of many B&B's I looked at this was definitely the nicest and cost the same!
Email me with any questions you may have!
