Mercure Paris Chateau Landon Hotel

I booked this hotel through the accorhotels.com site as it is part of that chain. Accor posts 1/2 price weekend specials on its site each Tuesday. The hotel is perfectly situated right at Gare de 'Est, a very large train station with access to Metro lines and RER. The hotel itself seems to strive to be a bit on the hip/ultra modern side with Ikea style furnishings. We stayed in this hotel on our way to Austria just before Christmas and then again on the way back on Jan 2. We spent one night each visit. As we had to change trains from Gare du Nord to Gare de l'Est, it was very conveniently situated. This is probably the best thing that I can say about it. On our outward journey in December, we had a double room which, although small, was reasonably clean and quiet and we had no complaints except that the person behind the desk when we checked out was quite rude and abrupt. We hoped this hotel would be better than the average 3* Paris offering, but results were mixed. The room was comparatively spacious and the bathroom was ok. The superior breakfast included in the price we paid was good, with a wide choice. Being right next to the Metro and the Gare de l'Est, some train noise was to be expected. We were on a package tour and had been reserved for another hotel near Gare Du Nord, but they were overbooked. We were sent at their cost to the Chateau Landon, where we felt very much welcomed. The room overlooked the train station (Gare D l'Est), but we had no perceived noise. The neighborhood was a delight for walking and tasting what the shops offered. Emm.. If you're searching a hotel located near a subway station(or nearest hotel), Mercure Paris Chateau Landon may become perfect answer. The hotel buildong has two gates, one is for subway and the other for hotel. You can enter the hotel lobby when you just turn right and step ahead about 10 footwalk. Oh.. you can go to the East Station of Paris through the subway gates. However, I'd like to give a just 'one-point' to all about this hotel, just except the location.

I have never been treated as bad as i was by a funtionari from this hotel! She treat me very bad!!! But the hotel escructure is excellent

This was my 3rd time to Paris, my favorite city in the world! On both previous visits I had stayed at the Mercure Austerlitz and was kind of scared to try anything besides a Mercure. However, I liked this one much better. It's not in the center of Paris (near the Eiffel Tower or Champs Elysees) but with the metro it is so easy to get around, that I couldn't complain. This hotel is by far not the worst I have ever stayed at. Of course, you should not expect extras like a sewing kit or shoe polish cloth, but the rooms are clean and warm, the breakfast is good, and our room was not noisy. We stayed in Mercure Landon in January 2005, and were overall satisfied by the experience. Also, expect the rooms to be rather tiny, but if you plan to only sleep there, it is ok.

I had the pleasure of spending a few nights at the Mercure Chateau Landon in Oct. 2003. The rooms were nicely decorated and very comfortable. The bath is big by American standards. I'd compare this hotel to a business class Mariott or Best Western. The breakfast was wonderful. I can still taste the pain de chocolate, assorted cheeses, and flaky croissants. My wife and I were referred to this Hotel by the Hotel Information service at the Gar Nord. It was exactly what we wanted and we were pleasntly surprised. The room was clean the shower worked and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for Gar Est and Gar Nord. At Gar Est buses take you to all the sites and the Metro is right at the Hotel (buy the 10 pack of transport tickets). The restaurants close to the hotel are more than adequate. A functional hotel. Not flashy and financially good value
