We were really nervous about this holiday after reading bad reviews on trip advisor and such like, however i do believe only those who have something to complain about tend to write reviews so i was sceptical. We have travelled all inclusive in 5* luxury hotels including... more

Disappointingly - Not maintained
We had stayed in the resort when it was newly opened several years back and found that it had not really been maintained since then. Beds had seen better days and generally the whole room looked a bit worn down. The indoor pool and 'neptune room' were not in use although the main pools are excellent. The food was varied but not overly appertising so we only ate there when we were in a lazy mood. The beach is not usable but just up over the hill in Coral bay is an excellent beach with all the sporting facilities you need. Security - emm - what security ! a guy who slept in the foyer. Biggest problem though is the chimney which covers about 10 appartments with soot daily, so beware sitting outside these in white clothes. The evening entertainment was poor and repetitive.
Its OK
Arrived at 1.30am, had a warm welcome at reception. We had booked self-catering but upgraded to half board (only 5.50 cp per adult). Food was good and plently of it. Waiting staff though either very happy or very grumpy. The room - the 'kitchenette' was exactly that, and not sure if I would have been happy to cater for a family with it. The beds were comfy but the childrens pull-out beds were a bit 'dodgy'. The air-con has a mind of its own and as it is worked by remote control (with no instructions on how to use it). The real down side was the bathroom. The loo had seen better days, the seat did not fit properly, and the loo flush was broken. Due to a lack of ventilation the bathroom had a bit of a nasty smell sometimes - almost a mouldy smell. The swimming pools are great and well maintained. The mini-market on site is well equiped and open early until late. The evening entertainment was repetative and a bit 'working-mans club' for our taste but people did appear to enjoy themselves. Word of warning - the noise from the entertainment goes on to 12.30am and sleep is not possible until then. It would have been nice to have somewhere quite and smoke-free but I guess that's in an ideal world !!!.
good value for money
Just back from a weeks all inclusive at this hotel. I travelled with a friend and we found that the room was spacious and incredibly clean. They clean the room 5 days out of the 7. We arrived at around 10.30 pm and were greeted with a friendly manner. They do not have staff to carry your bags or pamper your every whim, but do you really expect that here? Would say that it is ideal for a young family or people just wanting to escape for a week. The food was good, reasonable variety and plenty of it. Lots of people upgraded on arrival to all inclusive having talked to guests staying. You can definitely save money, especially on the drinks. We found the drinks ok if a little harsh ( the cheapest local spirits) but the beer and coffee is fine as are the soft drinks. There are 2 main pools plus a kiddies pool and a grotto and indoor pool, plus a gym but did not get that far. The entertainment is a bit repetetive but good for the kids and young at heart, plus the music can be a bit loud and annoying after a week. You can easily travel around though from here. There is a steep hill but it is a fairly short climb and you do not even have to do it. They seemed to turn a blind eye if you bought things from the shop and had them by the pool or in your room. Nice touches, the fruit and sandwiches in our fridge as a late arrival. The down sides, no real beach and that the all inclusive runs out at 2.30pm on your day of departure. Would go again but not straight away.
kids loved it
me and the kids had a great week the hotel was not very bizzy just nice great swimming pool my kids had a great time staff we,re very nice, room 1 bed apartment was lovley and big clean m,aid service was spot on food was good breakfast was was graet beach was pubbles no good for the kids night time in the hotel was relaxed view from the seating area was beautyful over looking the sea booked up to go in september could be a reguar place to vist for a few days away taking frielnd next time
great family venue
We booked this venue as a last minute self catering holiday. We found it clean, and friendly. Our first night there was childrens entertainment.....disco and competitions then the parents were asked to join in this was then followed by bingo. We are young parents with a young child we enjoyed our stay and so did our daughter. If you want a break in the sun with your children it's a must. There is a steep incline as you walk to coral ave the main street but we knew this when we booked it as it was stated, it wasn't a problem for us.
We enjoyed it and are going again in April
My partner and i stayed here for one week in setember 05, and after reading all of the reviews i would like to say that we found the aqua sol quite good. Maybe not a 4 star rating but definitely a 3 star. Some people are hard to please as the pools are great, the hotel is clean and the rooms are well equipped. The beach which is close to the hotel is not really for bathing as it is shingle, but 5 mins down the road is a gorgeous beach, and if you go a little further you will find some really nice beaches, as we discovered on the last day. There are a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops in coral bay but i would advise hiring a car to explore the island further. We enjoyed it so much we are going back to the aqua sol in april 06. p.s i would recommend the " El Faro" restaurant on the main street the food and service was exellent.
just got married
got married in resort. wat a holiay great place to visit hotel was brilliant, people bent over backwards, chef was sound, george the bar manager, wat a guy. kept gettin bevied with us.<28> people stayed with us at r hotel not one person complained, entertainment was great different act all time will be goin back sometime in future
Do not recommend Aquasol
Travelled to this hotel with my husband for two weeks on 12 October. On arriving in the early hours of the morning were allocated a room at the top of a flight of stairs and left to carry suitcases up with no assistance. Hotel apartments were very basically furnished and badly in need of refurbishment and nowhere near the four star standard which was advertised. The pool was dirty and was closed for two days and as the hotel is actually closing 2 November for 5 months it appears the staff were not interested in providing a service and were mainly unfriendly and surly. The restaurant and bar food was cold and for the last couple of days of our stay was takeaway only. There were insufficient sunbeds as they appear to be booked at 8.00 am and along with the chairs and tables were being removed during our last few days. The hotel is badly located at the bottom of a steep hill and certainly not suitable for elderly or infirm and I would certainly not recommend it.
Good for a week by the Pool
Myself and girlfriend (aged 29 and 33)have just returned from a week in Coral Bay, Cyprus. We stayed at the AquaSol Village Apartments, booked with Airtours, October 16th. 2005 for 7 nights. It’s only a 25-35 mins transfer from Paphos airport, but aircraft noise was not a problem. The accommodation itself was a lot better than expected, large spacious apartment with good size bedroom and living area. The kitchen was well equipped, and the apartment was very clean throughout, with a good maid service. Staff seemed so so, not overly friendly but certainly not unfriendly. Maybe it was just the end of the season. The centre of Coral Bay is about 15 minutes walk. There is a steep hill for about 1-2 minutes of that, but it really isn’t that much of a problem, unless you had mobility problems, but don’t let it put you off. Coral Bay seemed to us a “Bit English”. If you like watching your football, whilst drinking Carling, followed by a cocktail complete with Sparkler listening to Chirpy 70’s 80’s holiday classics, then you’ll be fine here. We tried most of the restaurants in town. There were a few more traditional places to eat, the best we found was Corallo on the main drag, excellent food, and good service. The beach is pebbles/rocks, but being from Brighton this isn’t anything new ! There is a good sand beach accessible by walking through town approx 20-25 mins. The Paphos Aphrodite water park was a good day trip, great fun on the slides etc. A little pricey at CYP£15 per adult, but was a full day out I suppose. A good and cheapish car hire place was Nestors and Marias, the 1st place you come to at the top of the hill. Rates from approx CYP£15 per day. Very friendly and they speak good English, the rates all inclusive. Generally though it was fine, a bit cheesy in places, but I guess that’s hard to avoid
No beach, but otherwise OK.
My family and I normally go to the Ayia Napa end of Cyprus, but fancied a change. Personally I wouldnt go here again in a hurry unless the 'beach' was sorted out. The complex is fine and clean, there are 4 pools(one inside), all surrounded by lush vegetation and flowers. There was plenty of space when we went there, both in the pools and around the pool area. This is surprising considering the beach is nothing but a thin stretch of large pebbles. Very uncomfortable to walk on and impossible to swim from unless you are very sure footed. The kids loved the pools though and the main one goes from 0 to 6 feet or so, like a little beach all on its own really, which is just as well. The food was the usual hash of international cuisine, so best avoided if possible. Some people thought they had a great deal upgrading to full board, but I was glad I saved my money and ate out. There are some lovely restaurants on the main strip. Yes, it is a little walk up a steep hill, but nothing too hard even in the Cypriot sun. Definately get a car of some sort, go to Lara Bay, the Troodos range, Latchi etc. You will not be dissapointed at all. We hired a jeep for 3 days and it was the best 3 days of the whole 2 weeks. Regarding the 'village' itself, well if they could pick this place up and drop it in Protaras or thereabouts, it would be perfect. Maybe its just me, but generally the Paphos end of Cyprus is largely unfriendly, over commercilaised (but pretends not to be, unlike Ayia Napa that knows what it is),pricey and the beaches are no better than Weston super Mare, except for the sun of course. All in all, the holiday was good, regardless of the resort. It was a little isolated from Paphos itself, but that is not a bad thing. The most important things I can tell you are these. Get a car, eat out, use all the pools.
