Avoid on site facilities

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Castillo Beach Park Apartments. The apartment was basic but clean with daily maid service although you do share your apartment with a colony of ants!. It was a 10-15 minute walk into the resort centre and beach which was down a very well lit and even path. The beach was lovely and clean and sunbeds were readily available for a small fee. The complex restaurant called the Mirador is to be avoided at all costs, the food was awful to say the least, drinks served were out of date and it did not open until 3pm a nightmare if you needed refreshments by the pool. The restaurant also had its own family of cockroaches although we were told by the rep that they were not a problem!. The pool area should be cleaned daily, the pool itself was however the area around it was slimy and slippery with cigarette ends everywhere and shards of broken glass. After complaining 3 times to senior management it was cleaned in a fashion. We booked a trip at the Welcome meeting paid up front and waited 45 minutes for the coach which did not turn up as the rep had booked it for another hotel. We were refunded our money. The mini market on site stocked all essential items with some familiar brands at a reasonable cost. The reception was very understaffed at times with huge delays and on arrival you are given a map with directions to your apartment, not very useful for arrivals after dark. My advice is not to expect too much in the way of facilities, the apartments themselves were better than expected and be prepared to venture into town daily if you do not want to cook, we would not consider staying here again although Caleta de Fuste is worth another visit.
wonderful holiday

Just returned from a week in castillo beach bungalow park. Bungalows were basic but comfortable with everything you needed and if you required any extras ie fan you could hire these from reception who were very friendly and helpfull. Resort quiet and relaxing with plenty of english bars and very friendly staff recommend a visit to Lins cafe in caleta de fusete where you got free english paper on every table for you to read no matter what you ordered. Atlantico shopping centre worth a visit especially if you love shoes!!! Beach by atlantico is the best with cheap sunbed hire 3 euro for all day. Chipmunks by the dive centre are well worth looking for and also the sea lions.

Stayed here for a week January 2006. Found to be just what I expected for a bargain early season holiday let. Basic , fairly comfortable, just about acceptable cleanliness. To compare with Barcelo Fuerteventura is a little silly as Castillo complexes are classed two star against Barcelo Fuerteventura classed four star. I am a regular of Barcelo but I needed a cheap/bargain package and Castillo gave me this.I have just booked for Xmas 2006 at Castillo Beach so that must say something. Barry a regulat to Caleta de Fuste/Costa Caleta
just great

fuerteventura our first visit. the cast. Raymond (36) the dad, Mhairi (33) the mum, Ethan 3 & Molly 1 , The kids. Just came back from two weeks at the castillo beach apartments and had a great time, we stayed from the 7th of dec to the 21st, at the park complex of the castillo beach. I will give you as honest a guide as I can. the apartments. They are not the ritz and not the pits. they are small, basic and clean. Although when we stayed it was cool at nite but I would imagine that in the hight of summer they would get very warm as there was no air con. the mirador.(entertainment and restraunt) the food is good the staff are very friendly and helpfull, although it could do with a lick of paint, the entertainment at nite would start of with the kids disco, hosted by the lovely Ann-Marie, or as my son called her the dancing lady, she is very good and always gets the adults to join in, then after the kids disco there would be bingo, play you cards right or a singer usually elvis (danny) god this guy loved himself, although in his leather trousers he looked more like the fonz than Elvis. THE RESORT. It was very quite when we were there so if you are looking for disco,s then dont come here. There are numerous bars , restrants and shops. If you walk toward the town from the main reception you will come across a complex with bars and restrants.the bell ,the red lion, molly malones, the argentino and the chicken ranch. All good to drink and eat. You then head down towards the town centre were there are more bars etc all good and about the same price. further down you come to the beach (man-made) this is ok fine for the kids but the water has alot of stones in it. the best beaches are corralleo (sorry about the spelling) this is in the north of the island you can go by bus but we hired a car. Summary. We Had a great time and will return, very friendly very clean and good if you have small children. The only downside there was alot of building work and you have to walk quite alot but, but apart from that go and see what you think.........
No more karaoke please
from stable
Arrived at castillo beach at 22.30 to hear karaoke from the mirador which was awful. the rooms were very basic with no television and the kitchen area falling apart.we took aour eleven year old daughter there was nothing for the kids to do they seemed very bored with no kids blub or entertainment.the pool was very nice and clean with plenty of sunbeds but the mini market on site was dearer than the ritz in london. the entertainment in the mirador was very very poor avoid at all costs play your cards right every night and yes karaoke.the best entertainment is down in the centre pietros music bar and chaplins.the weather in october was scorching best weather we have ever had in canaries.on leaving they expect you out of your room by 10.00 am even though we didnt arrive until late at night would not go back to this complex no life especially for children fawlty towers of caleta de fuste
Brilliant. would go back

Just back from a week in Castillo Beach, we stayed in the Park Bungalows and we couldnt find fault. I had read before about possible ant problems but when we got there we see very little. The maid service came everyday and washed and swept the floors. The mirador restuarant and its staff were lovely. most staff were english was great, and the spanish staff spoke very good english too.
Lovely Holiday

Hubby and I stayed at the Castillo Beach Park Apartments, and was pleasantly pleased with the accomodation apart from there was a smell of damp in the kitchen cupboards but we just took out the plates, glasses etc that we would be using washed them and kept them out of the cupboard, apart from that all was fine, the maid service was good. One thing I would suggest is take an insect net with you for the bedroom window as the heat is too much for sleeping at night with the window closed, so the net was good for the fact that we could open the window without fear of the mossies getting you whilst you slept. The complex was lovely and the pool was cleaned out every day, the staff at the Mirador are lovely and very helpful. I am posting some photos for your perusal and hope these help in making your choice.
Basic Apartments But The Holiday Is What You Make It

I have just arrived back from a week at the Castillo Beach Apartments. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Apartments named "Park" from the 17th - 24th August. There are four different parts to the complex. Park, Sol, Moon and Lake. Upon arrival we realised that our apartments were right at the top of the resort, a good 10 minute walk from the main resort, which wasnt too bad walking down the hill but we always got taxis home. Upon arrival our reception area was very busy and we had to wait around 15 minutes outside before being given the keys to our room. When we got to our room it was as expected, it was quite basic but had everything we needed. The living/kitchen/dining area was very clean with a couch which doubled as a pull out bed, there was also an armchair, coffee table, a cupboard, breakfast bar and kitchen area. The cupboards in the kitchen however smelt very damp so we washed all of our cutlery and plates etc as they didnt smell very nice. We has a toaster and a kettle in our apartment but we had to hire a fan as there was no air conditioning (very disapointing). However, it only costs 12 euros a week to hire a fan and other appliances are available to hire aswell. The bedroom was small but adequate, only downside that it was two single beds with wheels and we could not sleep with the window open as no mosquito nets etc which is why we needed the fan. We had a small area in front of our door outside which had a plastic table and four chairs along with a rack to dry clothes. This was nice to sit out at nice but was not very private. The pool at "Park" is right next to the reception area aswell as the Mirador Restaurant. It is however quite small and we preferred the pool just across the road at "Sol" which was much bigger, both rather cold but not too bad. We had our welcome meeting at The Mirador Restaurant on the Complex. It is quite shabby and we only ever had one meal there to take away. It was unedible, do not get the chicken curry!!! Also at our complex was Tennis/Basketball court, Gym/Sauna and a Mini Market, all of these we did not use. The resort of Caleta De Fueste of Costa Caleta as it is now called is a nice quiet area. There are many restaurants and bars, my favourite restaurant was the Argentinia which had beautiful food at great prices - (we had a 3 course meal for 40 euros for both of us). My other favourite place is the Italian Place "Paprika", it is absolutely fab! We ended every night there with a cappucino and ice cream and often a crepe from the Crepe stand (also fabulous apart from the queues lol) There are many shops to buy nice gifts, and the cigarettes and alcohol is very cheap as you probably know. The alcohol in bars however wasnt very cheap but still a good price. The beach at Caleta is nice however it is man made. Nice harbour to look at and there are many fish swimming about. You can hire jet skis from here which is fun and you can hire 2 sun loungers and a parasol for 7.50. If I were to go back to Fuerteventura I would definitely stay in Corralejo. We went on a night excursion and it is much livelier than Caleta, on this trip we had a fabulous Chinese meal mmmm. We also travelled back to Corralejo on our own via the buses. We got the number 3 bus from Caleta to Puerto Rosario then the 6 from Puerto Rosario to Corralejo. It only costs a couple of euros and can drop you off just outside the fabulous beach of corralejo. It is 10kms long and is just fabulous, the waves are great and the sand is so beautiful. We went to the beach 2 days in a row it was just fab. The sand dunes and the volcano are also a great sight. Overall, our trip was great. Caleta is a quiet but nice resort, there is enough to do for a week and would be great for a family. We however preferred Corralejo. The town is great and lively but the beach was our major selling point. Fuerteventura would be great for the windsurfing enthusiast, It Is great for water sports!! The weather is lovely, very warm. It reached 40 degrees when we were there but the nice wind kept it cool. Watch out you dont burn though, as you dont realise how warm it is! Apartments, overall, very clean and tidy, maintained every day. Very good value for money. You should Give it a go...
Fantastic sun and excellent food

Stayed in August this year with my 2 sisters ( me 27, sisters 19 & 20) The reception staff were very good with good english, they booked us taxis to and from the town whenever we wanted, taxis v cheap 1.50 - 2.00 euro. The mirador was slow at serving breakfast but the food is good, they seem to make up the prices if you eat in and the bill is illegible wereas take away was alway correct, evenings are better we ordered pizzas etc to take back to the room 1 night and it was ready in 10mins and very good. Entertainment is the usual kids disco, abba night etc very family orientated so we went into the town most nights, very good restaurant apart from the 1st restaurant you come to on the main road offering Tapas the service was poor the only bad service we had all week. The Italian near the kid playgroud is the best. Do explore as there is a main square but if you follow the crowd and cross the road you find more bars and restaurants, the steak house being the best. Bungalows were very clean. Only downside was you couldn't leave your windows open as no shutters or mosi nets The pool at the sol apartments was the best, had read reviews that said it was cold but thats what you need on holiday, it wasn't freezing. the beach was brilliant, constant breeze, safe for swimming, little train takes you from the tennis courts at your apartments every half hour right to the beach 1 euro each for adults 50cent for kids Would go back
brilliant

we had a brilliant time here, the bungalow we stayed in was just right ,the only days the maids did not clean the rooms was a sunday , towels changed every other day, first class. the pool is big and a bit on the cold side till you get in ,it is a salt water pool but you get used to it, the kids pool is fresh water . The Mirador is where we ate most nights as the kids loved the mini disco, the food was really good the only off putting thing was the size of the portions they were massive but we managed ( ha ha ha ). the entertainment i have left to last, Annmarie the entertainer is first class, she has the kids ( and adults ) up dancing to every song, and beware of that stage because if you walk away before the song has finished your made do it again on your own on the stage. On the whole we enjoyed our holiday and yes we will go back there again,i think what really made it for us was Annmarie, after all if your kids are having a good time, it helps you relax to . so cheers Annmarie for making our holiday xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
