This was not our first time to the yucelen hotel we booked firstly in august 2006 when me and my husband went over to akyaka to get married. Anatolin sky could not do enough for us and the wedding was just amazing. The staff at the yucelen were so helpful and went out of... more

Excellent organisation by Anatolian Sky. We had B/B in the apartments. Very clean and well equipped. Hotel well run and staff very, very helpful. Off season so relatively quiet. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide choice but our one dinner in the hotel was a buffet... more

Lovely hotel, aesthetically pleasing, which sort of spreads throughout the village. Self catering apartments fine if not a bit small. Pool is lovely - although a bit cool in May/June, although the local ducks enjoy a splash! Tea and cookies appeared at 5pm everyday which... more

Great place, great food, very good hotel
Just returned from a really relaxing time. Can confirm with the other reviews concerning very courtious and friendly staff. Room we stayed in was large, clean, with the linen changed daily. Food (if its a big consideration of yours) was excellent at both breakfast and evening. Plenty of choice for all tastes, not the usual meat, tomatoes, cheese and bread. Beach is adjacent to the hotel and the grounds within the hotel, and the park next door, are well maintained. Yes the dogs can be a nuisance of a night, but I suppose they are quieter than the lager louts you could find in the more popular resorts. If you are going August 2009 listen out for the man, walking around the roads, who will be banging his drum to mark Ramadam at 4am. Novel and not that irksome! I cannot recommend this hotel enough and would be a wonderful safe place if you are bringing young children. Go on the gullet cruise and the Dalaman river cruise, not expensive and great days out! Just a little word of advice would be for your return home. Do not purchase food or drink at Dalaman Airport, buy it in the resort and take it with you. Example of the prices, I bought 2 McD hamburgers and 1 large fries . . . . £13. Two small beers £10. Hope this info is of use. Great place to have a great holiday.
Fantastic Place
My wife and daughter (aged 27) and I have just returned from this Hotel and complex after staying for a week and I can say without fear of contradiction that this was probably one of the best Holidays we have ever had. The people of Turkey are really friendly and even more so if you are willing to try to speak their lingo. The complex itself is clean and tidy and despite the large number of dogs about, there were no signs of the usual dog fouling problems. The pool areas are full of brolleys and there are plenty of seats to be had without having to resort to early morning towel depositing, in fact this is discouraged. The beach also is also fully complemented with brolleys and seats, and after a short while the attendent quickly realised where we liked to sit and we found that our spaces had been saved for us. The food in the complex was really good with a good selection of buffet type foods to choose from, and the maitre de, Cetin (pronounced Chetin) Ceylan, Made sure that we were kept happy at all times. One trip I can really recommend is the day Guillet trip to Cleopatra Island, this was the best £30 I have ever spent, even though drinks were extra. All in all I would recommend this Holiday to anyone. We booked through Anatolian sky, and their on site rep, Umut, was very helpful.
Posh Hotel
I actually stayed in the Yucelen Bungalows part of the hotel which provides a lake cabin atmosphere. All the hotel facilities are available to the bungalow guests including the beach, pool and breakfast. My cabin was showing its age with the floor soft in a few spots. The real fun was a small bat flying around the room the day I checked out. He finally settled behind a bed headboard a remained to terrify the next guest. Otherwise the Hotel does deserve its 4 star rating for the breakfast and common areas. It is almost like the Hotel Del Coronado but in Akyaka.
WOW !!
What can i add?. We have just returned from one of the best hotels and resorts we have ever visited. My wife and i have travelled to turkey for over 20 years. This is the tops.the hotel staff were excellent, the breakfast fantastic .I must repeat FANTASTIC. Soft boiled eggs and lovely turkish bread!.Plus anything else you can think of.We look forward to a return visit with our extended family
Loved the surroundings and the Efes!
The minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome - and it was at night! We were taken to our rooms which were located in the gardens near to the pool area. Rooms were fresh and clean with a small balcony. Had a buffet dinner before retiring to the bar to sample their offerings - which were plentiful and quite reasonably priced. The best was yet to come! In the morning we could really appreciate the Hotel's location. Against a backdrop of Pine covered hills and right on the shores of the most stunning Aegean bay. The fascilities were of excellent standard, no less than four swimming pools and immediate access to the beach. The beach area is man made and the sand is in fact rather dark, compacted soil. Plenty of loungers and umbrellas available, so no problem. We elected to find an excellent spot next to the main pool under some palms. Serivce here was adequate but not outstanding. Limited food offerings - only buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner - a la carte restaurant was not operating - and a snack bar. Accordingly after a breakfast all other meals were enjoyed in the super variety of local restaurants. Very good experience overall, would recommend!
unexpected gem..
I walked into Yucelen Hotel just by chance looking for a place to stay in Gocek. We took 2 bungalows, under Eucalyptus trees, with small terraces and hammocks in front. My 2 year old daughter loved swinging her doll in the hammocks and there was a lot of space for her to run around safely. The rooms had fridges and air con, nothing luxurious but all very proper. The hotel has a pool which is a good size (for a medium sized hotel), and it is surrounded by lots of chaiz-lounges where it was quite easy to get a place. lt is overlooked by a small tree-covered hill, and kept very clean so it was quite pleasant to spent time there. The beach is just a few steps away, so many people prefer to go there. Dalyan is easily reached (via boat), with its Iztuzu Beach ranked as one of the 10 best beaches in 2006 by the Independent. The breakfasts and dinners in the hotel's restaurant were suberb, with fresh delicious ingredients. We needed some mosquito sprays in the evening, which were often provided by the very friendly waiters. Oh, before I forget, I had possibly the best body massage I ever had in this hotel, from a nice young lady who had a university degree in sports therapy. The hotel seemed to have several British families, mostly peacefully reading their books by the pool. I should say this isn't the place if you are after night-life, but it was perfect for a few relaxing days.
Lovely Hotel...but....
A delightful hotel, extremely clean, with the staff going out of their way to be friendly, nothing appeared to be to much trouble. Breakfast for Turkeys standard was very good, however at this time of the year, dinner left a lot to be desired - recommend you go B & B, as there are some delightful restaurants to eat at, which provide value for money, strongly suggest finding restaurants which are owned and run by Turks. Akyaka is not the place for you if you want night life, this resort is for the laid back and for those who wish to relax, the hotel pool and the beach, will most definetly meet those needs! The only big set back, was the barking dogs, there are a number of stray dogs which bark through the night, consequently a number of guests had interupted nights of sleep - not the best way to enjoy your holiday, as you can well imagine. (plus I use earplugs) I would like to return, however, if the dog barking is not sorted out, I and a number of others will not be returning, which is a great shame - as the hotel is lovely.
Akyaka Charm
Our First visit to Akyaka, in fact our first visit to Turkey - We had an enjoyable stay at the Yucelen Hotel. The staff were very friendly - our apartment was clean and spacious - bed linen and towels were changed daily. We did experience some power cuts of electricity and also at different times no water - but this somehow added to the charm of the place & was also back within the hour. Akyaka benefits by not having any large UK tour operators - we travelled with Anatolian Sky who specialise in holidays to Turkey and had no problems at all with any aspect of their service. The Yucelean has backdrop of mountains with colourful gardens and a stream running through the property where ducks, fish and terrapins enjoy the cool waters of the stream. The beach is very safe for children and also has a watersports centre - the hotel restaurant overlooks the sea where buffet style breakfast, lunches or dinners (plus a choice from the menu) were served. Along the beach front were several restaurants all of which were good value for money. Just a short stroll back from the beach front you will find a selection of local restaurants. Or take a 15 minute stroll to the riverside restaurants - with all of these different locations there was always a good variety of places to eat. Akyaka has a friendly village style atmosphere - If you are looking for loud music and bars then Akyaka is NOT for you. If you are looking for a resort that has a local atmosphere, safe beaches, and a hotel with friendly staff the Yucelen should be considered.
Stay at the Yucelen Hotal & Appts!
Date of stay 22.08.05 to 05.09.05 Yucelen Hotel & Apartments are very conveniently located within the resort of Akyaka, just a two minute walk to many of the restaurants located on the sea front and a five minute walk to the shops. The shops are basic and will provide you with the essentials if you are self catering within the hotel appartments. The resort itself is small and still quite traditional so there are not many souvenir shops - if you want markets to try out your haggling skills and bigger shops for clothes and jewellery you'll need to take a trip to Marmaris (a much busier, louder 18 - 30s kind of resort). We stayed in one of the hotel rooms as opposed to the apartments. The hotel and grounds are beautiful - palm trees, a spring running through the grounds, ducks, fish and turtles - what more could you ask for! If you can get a pool view room - do. Our balcony was just above the area that the ducks and turtles congregate which was lovely. The ducks do give you quite a wake up call about 7:30 though! Not a bad thing as this is the time that you need to get your towels out! The whole putting the towels out before you sun bathe is not something we would normally condone but at this hotel, when it's busy, you need to get them out early to get a decent sun bed. Everyone does it so there isn't a problem with it at all. The staff at the hotel are lovely, all very friendly and eager to please. The brochure we had mentioned an indoor pool, fitness centre, jacuzzi, sauna etc. At the time we visited the fitness cetnre didn't exist, the sauna was closed, the indoor pool freezing cold and in need of a little TLC and the jacuzzi was broken. We believe that parts of the hotel are still going through refurbishment and these things will probably be looked at shortly. DON'T let this put you off going to the hotel - it is lovely and the fact that these things weren't available did not marr our holiday in the slightest. There is plenty of shade if you need it around the pool and a nice touch is that there is complimentary tea and cake at 5pm each day. The restaurants along the sea front sell a variety of very reasonably priced food - the drinks are a little more expensive compared to the food, especially wine. A basic meal (starter, main course and a drink) costs about £8 each. Our particular favorite restaurants were Yagmur on the sea front - the staff are so friendly and will give you a very warm welcome, especially if you take the time to learn a little Turkish before hand (we'll be puting a basic language guide on our website www.adamandlyn.co.uk before the end of 2005!) and ATI - a short walk up the hill from the hotel into the main square. Anatolian Sky are a very good tour operator. On pick up from the airport in Turkey we received a complimentary bottle of water each - we thought this was a very nice touch as it was rather warm out! They offer plenty of trips - jeep safari (great fun), one day trip to Ephesus or a two day overnighter to Pamukkale and Ephesus (a little rushed but worth the while we thought), a moonlight cruise along the Dalyan river past the rock tombs with a visit to Caunos (a wonderful trip - do it on the Sunday, the day before you come home, it's a perfect end to the holiday). We hope the above gives you a good idea of what to expect. Do go to Akyaka and stay at the Yucelen Hotel, it's super! Enjoy!
Great ducks
Yucelen Hotel, graded four star, and probably is for the overall ambience and position. The water running through the grounds provides an ideal environment for the ducks, turtles and large fish. Local facilities great, especially restaurants such as the Idyma in "higher" Akyaka and The Golden Roof.
