" The Windsurf Resort was a lovely... "

The Windsurf Resort was a lovely resort and the staff were really friendly and the accommodation, pool area was clean and the bar was reasonably cheap especially between 4-6pm Happy Hour - 2 Drinks for the price of one. The Resort restaurant was nice and do remember to take your laptop as the hotel has free wireless internet. There is an internet cafe nearby, but why pay when you can take your own laptop.

The beach was just a two minute walk and so many restaurants nearby. Every Tuesday at Pitu (Restaurant) you could get 2 -4- 1 Pizza's. The Pizza's were made in a wood burning oven and the taste was amazing, it tasted just like the pizza's from Florence, Italy.

We also went on a gourmet food evening to The Castle Club, which was held at a lovely American couples home about 30 minutes away by car. The evening cost was 42 USD per person and the food was an amazing 4 course meal. Drinks were just a few dollars extra and the American couples home was amazing, it was open and on a hill. They told amazing stories about them buying the land and using everything on the land to construct the house and even made furniture. The gardens were well kept and they grew lots of vegetables, herbs and spices.

We were in Cabaret for 2 weeks which is too much, 1 week is more than enough. It was very relaxing but, if you like to chill out by the beach then this is the place. If you are a city girl like me then you will be bored after a week as there are no malls nearby.

All in all Cabaret is an up and coming area, but do watch out for thieves in Puerto Plata airport. Always keep your money in your pocket never in your purse. As I lost a lot of money due to keeping my money in an envelope in my purse which was stolen by an immigration person at the airport. I only realised after I had got on the plane, which was too late. Not everyone in the Dominican Republic are thieves, but I am put off going again.
