Marriott Club Son Antem

We stayed at the Marriott Son Antem for two weeks over Christmas 2005. The resort is isolated in the country about 12km from Palma de Mallorca. As would be expected facilities at the Marriott are excellent. 2 golf courses and a heated indoor/outdoor pool which is great fun. The resort did promise live entertainment which did not exist making the evenings dull and disappointing.
Palma de Mallorca is a very pretty and interesting city. We took 2 guided walking tours which were excellent. The shopping is also very good.
Take the train to Soller - an old train through the mountains providing good views to a very pretty town.
Valdemosa is also worth visiting.
During December the usual tourist resorts were all virtually closed making entertainment and access to restaurants very limited. The resorts of S'Arenal, Palma Nova and Magalluf were not only closed but boasted the worst of naff attractions so often attributed British tourist resorts in Spain e.g. the "Princess Diana Bar" (mercifully closed during our stay).
The North and West of the Island is very pretty and there are much better areas than the ones previously mentioned (Cala d'Or for instance).
A friend joined us and stayed on a Finca under the agro tourism scheme which was truly beautiful and we would recommend looking into this if you want a holiday with a difference.
Overall however, Mallorca in December is virtually closed and we would recommend you delay your visit to a beautiful Island until later in the season.
