have just returned home from very nice sunny week here ,but on our arrivalat reception we were promptly told we had to pay 60 euro against damage, which we had not been told about from tour operater (neither had anyone else) so that was bit of a blow ,then we were shown on a paper wre to go to find our accomadation which believe me was not easy very dark 9.15 evening down a very steep hill and it was some time before we could find the name of our block, we were not told it was in the middke of other blocks and not visable from road way or paths, we had to leave our suitcases and go looking, when we dud find them i must say they were very nice apartments very good for self catering, beds very hard so like most people e used the sofa bed, we went there on a all inclusive which in everywhere else i've been it means just that , not here , snacks and ice cream are always avaiable between meals not here if you or your children won't either during day you have to pay for these, now most children won't lunch around 12, here its 1pm ,dinner is'nt until 7pm, so if your child wants to eat before then you have to pay ,make sure you get there before 5pm. now onto the entertainment, volley ball or darts in day, snakes, acrobats, and 1 nihgt of karoke, (look for further reviews on that)now as for the animacion man RUBEN what a total waste of space, he has no idea how to organise entertaimentall he did all day every day was to sit around annoying guests who were trying to enjoy the sun, he spoilt what was a nice holiday, not just for us but all guests had anough of him, hopefully he will be sent packing before you go
- Advice: only small village if weather bad nothing to do

Two weeks before departure our hotel was changed from the Merlin Resort to Callao Garden. Search results on Callao Garden were not good particularly in the food area. We asked for other options, both hotels offered as alternatives came up as even worse on a web search. Opting to stick with the first choice we flew out as scheduled with Monarch. Transfer and check-in went without a hitch and our accommodation turned out to be a self catering appartment that was clean and spacious. Arriving late evening the food on offer was dry, clearly having been there for some hours, and unappetizing. The food preparation and presentation continued to be a issue throughout our holiday and became a daily subject with all other all-inclusive clients. My wife battled for days to get the food covered to keep out the flys constantly in the dining room. That said the staff in general were very good. We discovered that since our original hotel closed all its clients had been moved to the Callao Garden. The Callao Garden is a ApartHotel for the use of those people on a self catering holiday, in no way does it fit in with the all-inclusive type of holiday. As for Callao Salveje its a very small quiet resort with the usual selection British run bars and the odd Chinese restaurant.

I stayed at this hotel back in 2007 for 2 weeks with my young son. My parents were joining us for the 2nd week and were really excited to show them round because our 1st week was wonderful. Only problem i had was the sofa bed, it was so uncomfortable that nobody could have slept on it so i went to reception who wasted no time in replacing it. On the day my parents arrived i went and met them at 4am in front of the hotel and showed then to the room. After a quick drink on balcony we went to bed. Went straight to pool next morning and stayed for most of the day. On our return i noticed all the cupboards open in the bedroom and discovered somebody had been in our room and stolen all my money (£1000). I had a safe built into my suitcase so didnt use security box. They took the case which was found ripped open that evening. I was devastated and it totally ruined rest of our hols. It turned out a member of staff had stolen it and they had been watching us around the pool and communicating via radios. I wandered why me and soon found out they ransacked our room when they bought sofa bed to see where we kept our stuff and found a list at reception with who did/didnt have safe boxes.
Pools, grounds etc were all beautiful and staff were fantastic we even ate at the pool bars and thoroughly enjoyed it but after spending 8 hours at Playa de las Americas police station needless to say we wont be going back and sold our apaprtment.

Satyed over xmas and new year 2007. We have timeshare and booked this apartment, being told it was a 3 star. It was terrible. The apartament was falling to bits. The kitchen cupboards were hanging off. The windows wouldnt shut properly. The floor tiles were cracked and broken and my son cut his foot open so we all had to wear socks while walking about the apartment. There were 5 of us staying there, we had a double bedroom, twin room and sofa bed. We couldnt get the sofa bed open the first night and called to reception for help to be told that noone could help until the morning. So my 9 year old son had to sleep in the double bed with us. the TV was coin operated. There was never enough hot water for all five of us. We took it in turns each day to see who was going to have a cold shower!!!! No wine glasses. Only four chairs and a small table on the balcony so we couldnt eat outside. Swimming pools not heated. two washing machines in the laundry, one out of order so you couldnt get asny washing done as it was always in use. Absolutely dreadflul holiday.

Just arrived back from 5 nights in these apartments. We should have been in the Merlin Resort (previously Ocean Club) but the renovations weren't complete.
Staff very nice. We liked our apartments and found them spacious with ceiling fan, iron, ironing board, toaster, kettle, hairdryer, big fridge freezer and full sized cooker.
We were booked all-Inclusive which I would NOT recommend to anyone as the food is atrocious, to put it mildly. There was no choice for vegetarians, apart from salad and even if you did eat meat, it was very poor. The food was lying out cold. Not many people can use the restaurant, as the buffet was tiny. One choice, pasta with meat through it, chips and chicken nuggets for kids. Snacks for your lunch was all you could get during the day from the pool bar/restaurant.
Totally unsuitable for anyone with walking difficulties as there are stairs everywhere. There were 100 from the restaurant to our apartment and some people were even worse!
Callao Salvaje wasn't a resort, as such. A couple of shops, supermarkets and restaurants and nowhere to walk to. I wouldn't go back.

Nice apartments basic bed and kitchen nothing special, there is no air conditioning, had to hire fan costing 37 euros!
Not a very lively area to holiday in only the choice of a few bars and restaurants. although they are very nice ones.
Bus takes about 45 minutes to Playa de las Americas, packed with people going to the beach can be a pain although very cheap. The taxi costs about 13 euros from Las Americas back to callao gardens. Fanabe Very nice area to go. Loads to do lots of restaurants. Beware of touts there!
Overall Tenerife is a very nice place to stay with lots to do. Do not recommend these apartments, no entertainment! Although the pools are very nice!

Just arrived back from a great holiday in Tenerife. Not so great apartments. We were told a 5* resort air conditioning. The apartments were clean, but small, no air con, had to hire fan costing us 37 Euros for two weeks! Lots of stairs, and nowhere near any good bars or entertainment or even a good beach.
You have to take to 45 minute bus to Las Americas and the buses stop running at 8pm! Fanabe is very nice, takes about 30 mins on bus. These apartments not recommended if you like a busy holiday!

Callao Gardens is a 3 key complex by the sea in the resort of Callao Salvaje. You can get to Playa de las Americas in 10 minutes by car or taxi or there is buses once an hour from just down the road. This gives you the chance to stay in a quieter resort yet have the bars and clubs in Playa Americas only a short taxi/bus ride away.
The one bedroom apartments are in named apartment blocks. They are all well furnished with a balcony, full kitchen including a oven, fridge and microwave. In the lounge is a bed settee, dining table and chairs plus a TV.
The complex had an 3 swimming areas, restaurant and bar. A tennis court, squash and Jacuzzi are also available. Nearby are shops and restaurants plus the local beach and promenade.
Bars to choose from are Beckhams, which do great English breakfasts as well at Buzzin' Bar, Rat Pack, Paddy McGinty's and of course the 3 Horse Shoes which is open until 4am every night and has a great Karaoke with Rob.

We stayed at this hotel for a week (Wednesday to wednesday), the group consisted of 11 people from 9 years old to 68 years old and we all had the same views .... We actually booked merlin resort but on the beach trasfered us here
GOOD POINTS
-Rooms Cleaned once every other day
-Staff Very friendly
-Large appartments
BAD POINTS
-60 euro deposit on room . that we was not informed about untill arrival
-Dog or Cat mess all over paths
-Not a good range of food (6 diffrent dishes a day one of wich was always chips another was fish and salad) and ALWAYS cold as there was no heaters to keep it warm and plates were cold
- sausage and chicken was raw on a number of occations
-entertainment was rubbish
- no shop on site nearest was located 10 mins down a very steap hill
- when we did go into town there was about 6 shops
- nothing for children except pool
- no snack shop ie chrisps or sweeets or nuts or chocolate as bar didnt stock them
- to get to hotel room from pool or visa versa you have to go up or down atleast 200 steps a day so no good if u have a problem with walking or breathing difficulties (it was that bad that in a week my husband lost 1 stone in weight)
-No real disabled access due to steep hill and LOTS of steps
-Bedding only changed once a week
-one of our appartments was infested by cockroach eggs and babys from the day we arrived to the day we left
-barman was incharge of serving at the bar clearing tables checking food hadnt ran out so he was bassically runing the shop by himself
- the chef was also the decorator
-the food got that bad after a few days that we started going to the resteraunts in town to eat ad a number or the staff was surprised the hotel had a kitchen nevermind doing all inclusive
- we paid from wednesday to wednesday and got to the hotel at 9.30pm wednesday night and on the day we was due to leave they informed us our all inclusive runs out at 10am so we lost a day in total
-to watch tv you have to pay its 1 euro per hour
-if you wish to hold onto your room and wrist band after 10am it cost up to 25 euros
- in total there was about 25 people staying in the hotel and 11 of them was us .... the rest was russian and VERY arragant
- every view from hotel had building sites or half knocked down biuldings
all in all i definitaly would NOT recomend this hotel to ANYONE
DONT GO
