Ece Saray Marina & Resort

Our family of five stayed here in two seaview suites for three nights at the end of our trip to Turkey. We were very disappointed with this hotel. 1. Front desk staff was not helpful and most of the time no one at the desk spoke english. When I asked for a map of the area they did not have one. They could not recommend a restaurant or tour guide and in general provided no assistance. 2. There is no concierge and no way to book any excursions from the hotel. 3. The situation of this hotel could not be better. It overlooks the marina with hills in the background - just beautiful. The little balconies ,which are not big enough for table and chairs, are gorgeous because the patio doors pull right back opening up the rooms giving you feeling of being outside. You can sit, drink in hand on comfortable chairs just inside your room and marvel at the view. The pool and surrounding areas are spotless with comfy sunbeds and mountains of towels. We stayed at Ece Saray for four days after two weeks of touristing and sailing. Fethiye is a terrific place to settle in, both a tourist town and a "real" town too with such a wonderful setting. As for Ece Saray we loved our room, the view, the peacefulness and the pool was spectacular. The breakfast is not served on the rooftop late in the season but in the dining room. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, but given the mixed reviews on this board, I'm hoping I can add some perspective on both views. As everyone has attested to, this is a lovely hotel in an ideal location with stunning views of the harbour and the bay. The grounds are well-kept and designed, and the pool is lovely. The rooms are also beautifully done. All in all, a great stay at a nice hotel in a nice seaside town (although I found other seaside towns, particularly Antalya, much nicer). Ece Saray 12 - 19th September 2005. My partner and I have just returned back to the Uk from staying in the Ece Saray for 1 week. Before we left for our chill out week, I read some of the reviews and was slighly aprehensive about visiting this Hotel. We arrived early evening and when we were shown to our room, opened the voiles and wow what a view!!!! Have recently returned from our first trip to Turkey (2-12 September 2005). We stayed at the Ece Saray Marina Hotel in Fethiye, and had a fabulous time. The hotel is in a picturesque setting - all rooms have a view of the marina, mountains in the background - visually great. Don't be put off by some bad reviews, be optimistic - bear in mind that some people are natural moaners (even if, on occasions, they have good reason). We had no cause to moan about anything. I'm really surprised at some of the reviews on here; we had the complete opposite experience when we stayed at this hotel in May 2005. We found the service very good, housekeeping excellent and a la carte food superb. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly, (one of the staff even insisted on taking us out in his car on his day off to save us what he considered to be "rip off" taxi fares; we went to Gocek and 2 markets where he bartered on our behalf and got "Turkish" prices for everything we bought!). The Ece Saray (which means Queen's Palace) was one of the loveliest accommodations we had during our three weeks in Turkey. Though we only had a standard room, it was more than adequate, on the third floor, with a large palm tree in front and a wonderful view of the Fethiye harbor. The decor was tasteful. The rooms were quiet. Each has a sweet French balcony. The front desk staff attentive. And the pool area was large and set apart from the rooms so there was no noise from there either. The setting of this hotel is really beautiful, set on a lovely marina, surrounded by mountains, visually great. However we had problems right from the start, 3 days before arriving we had a phone call saying our sea front suit, was now not available due to refurbishment and could we come another time, we of course couldnt! I spent a day by the pool at this hotel in August 2003. I was mid way through a two week gulet cruise and wanted to spend the day by a pool rather than on a beach. This hotel was gorgeous! The pool area was spotless with lovely solid sun beds and luxurious white towels. The pool area was very quiet - no entertainment, just peace and tranquility. Great service and food from the pool bar - also amazingly cheap! If we could have stayed here rather than returning to the gulet for a second week we would have! Now contemplating... more
