Nice Hotel
from BukkenBruse
Date: August 6, 2006 Reviewer: A TripAdvisor Member, Vienna, Austria We booked two rooms, a twin and a triple, as we were travelling with three children. We were very pleasantly surprised when we discovered that the triple room had a balcony and two bedrooms with individual TVs. The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great with a variety of fruit, cereals, bread, youghurts, pastry, ham, cheese and more. The hotel is centrally located, close to a major shopping...

unfriendly reception
from A TripAdvisor Member
In the begining of the month I stayed in this hotel and I may say that I never saw unfriendly staff in the reception like in this hotel. they were always with bad face and were not at all helpful. The room was good but the breakfast had few variety.
Excellent Value for the Quality
from College Bowl
We stayed at this property on June 8. The room was large and well decorated in a "moderne" style. The bath room and towel quality were very good. The breakfast buffet was extensive and impressive. The location was central and quiet. Though the staff was unfailingly polite, the desk staff was bit too casual in style. We had a certain restaurant in mind for dinner and inquired about the necessity for a reservation. We were told it would not be necessary. We walked to the restaurant and they had no room for us. This is a small nit...

Palermo bellissima!
from Criki
Very good value (on totalstay about € 80,00 for double room+ breakfast). Very good location, nice breakfast. Our room was modern and clean and very quiet. I loved Palermo but to go around I left in the room my watch, earrings etc. and wallet (just took with me some € ) as suggested by a man who lives in Palermo. At night go to Mondello beach (the bus leaves from from Piazza Sturzo every 30 min. and it takes about 20/30 min), really nice! Ciao a tutti!
Sleepless in Palermo
from munnia
I stayed in this hotel with my husband for 2 nights. When I arrived at the hotel, I was delighted to find that the rooms were modern with duvets as I am allergic to musty old hotels. It is in a great safe location close to the centre of town with easy access to the old streets. The breakfast was very good for Sicily. Our problem was the nightclub downstairs which finished at 1am. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night so I don't know if it is on every night but both nights we were kept awake with loud vibrating music and the sound of...

Excellent if rather predictable
from thmaesbe
The hotel is located in a quiet part of town (note that Palermo is already surprisingly quiet at night anyway) in an entirely new building. It markets itself as a 'design hotel', and maybe it is, but it is overly clear that this is a chain hotel. Which means: excellent service, but not really different from any other chain hotel anywhere else in the world... The rooms are huge, but be aware that they are not air-conditioned (or not in April anyway) and that the windows have a queer design which seems to allow only two positions: shut...

Very Nice Hotel
from xbisou
I stayed at the Mercure Hotel for one night in March. I was in Sicily for 24 hours, on a mission to find a nice hotel for an up and coming Summer trip - I'm going there in July with 12 friends for a birthday weekend. I'd booked the Jolly Hotel, but cancelled it after reading a few negative reviews on various websites. I'd read good things about the Mercure so I booked a room there. It's modern, clean and the young woman at the front desk always greeted us with a smile. Her two cohorts, however, just stared rudely until you looked...

Fascinating city break...
from UKAlex
I have just returned from a short city break in Palermo (22nd -26th Feb)and stayed 4 nights at the Mercure Centro, Palermo with my husband. We found the hotel rooms to be warm and comfortable with spacious, interestingly designed en-suite bathrooms, the hotel clean and well ventilated and the staff at reception to be friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were abundant and full of variety including on our first morning some fabulous locally made cannelloni! Situated on one of the quieter streets, on Via Mario Stabile just off Via Roma (one...

Highly recommended. Four-star service at a two-star price!
from Veledan
A friend and I stayed at the Mercure Centro twice last week while travelling around Sicily, after seeing the recommendations here at tripadvisor. We only paid approx 50 euro/night for single rooms (obviously off-peak January prices) and the service and quality were excellent. The hotel is on one of the quieter streets in the city centre just off Via Roma and was easy to find - about 3-400m walk from P. Ruggiro Settimo where the airport bus drops off. The rooms were small but were modern, well fitted, and clean. The breakfast service...

Never again!!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was in a good location, in a quiet street, close to the city centre. The breakfast was not good enough for 4-star. The heating system in our room did not work properly and circulated only stale smelly air, smelling like unwashed feet. The staff were not helpful when we complained. One of the hotel receptionists, a male, spoke very poor English and seemed to have no idea about anything. He gave us several wrong answers to simple questions and even marked the position of our hotel on the wrong street of a map which he provided. He...
