Gran Hotel Son Net

There is no way that the other reviewers who critisized the service at the Son Net actually stayed there. We were treated like royalty! Upon arriving we were greeted by the manager who offered us a complimentary cocktail. Each member of the staff kept track of our likes and dislikes, along with our whereabouts and how they could make our stay better. We stayed in one of the villas promoted on the hotel's website. Despite the impression you get from the website, these are NOT run by the hotel, but are private houses. The first villa we saw still had clothes of the owners in the cupboard and food in the fridge. The villas are also a 5 minute drive away from the hotel, so a car is necessary to reach the hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Sonnet for five days during a two week stay in Spain for our honeymoon in Sept. '05. While it was hard to stay in a hotel with no views of the ocean, the service, relaxation and overall luxury we found at the Sonnet made it worth it. In our early 30s, we were by far the youngest people staying there. We had the clay courts all to ourselves each day, and they had decent rackets that they loaned us. Very good stay at the Son Net. A few things let it down, not as formal or as home counties as the Residencia more informal, which included the service. Reception is a little hap-hazzard, didn't feel they were in control of making bookings for restaurants/taxis etc. Booked a deluxe, would definately go one up to the superior as found the room a little on the small side but still charming. Room service food was bland (think airline food) but the restaurant was amazing, difficult to believe they came from the same kitchen! In short, 4 days... more

We just got back from a long weekend at this wonderful hotel. All you would expect from a Relais and Chateaux. Classy, cosy hotel, excellent service. Pool is fantastic. Highly recommended for families, our 2 year old loved it. At least as nice as the La Residencia. The village is 11 km outside of Palma, so you certainly need a car.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful - but unfortunately all too brief - stay at Son Net. The hotel was outstanding in all respects and I can see why it featured on a recent TV programme of the Top 10 hotels in the world. The amazing art collection was a real surprise as was the quality of food in the spectacular restaurant setting.

Our first stay in May 2003 was superb; the service was at that time was excellent. We returned in May 2004 to find a marked deterioration; this was due to the departure of most of the staff and manager to another hotel. The new staff had not yet been adequately trained although the room service remained good. The manageress was delightful and acknowledged that the hotel had to deliver to justify the tariffs. Stayed at the end of May 2004. Beautiful hotel-very well designed, big rooms, marble bathrooms, stunning mountain scenery. Down sides - the service was very poor - had to wait 20-30 mins to order a drink in the bar or pool, and often had to hunt down the waiters..not very 5 star. Watch out for the extras - they try to charge you 30 euros+ per day for the pool cabanas.. Plus the pray for good weather - there's not much to do in he hotel, and the local town is not exactly picturesque (lots of building going on)..All in all I think the hotel... more

This is a lovely, charming,romantic place set in a very scenic spot. The service was wonderful. Rooms are very pretty.

The Gran Hotel Son Net is one of the most beautiful, luxurious hotels in the world! First of all, Majorca is one beautiful island, and the location of the hotel, a few miles from the city of Palma, is perfect. The hotel is a former residence which has been converted into a lovely hotel, with beautiful rooms and the most perfect bathrooms you have ever seen!
