Choupana Hills Resort & Spa Hotel

This is a beautiful hotel set high in the hills over Funchal. It is small, elegantly decorated and the food is wonderful. Its only problem is it is in the wrong place. We stayed three days and it drizzled constantly. I should alos point out that it is not for the physically handicapped. We had a wonderful suite but it had twenty stone stairs up to it. Difficult when it was dry but when wet impossible! I think it would be a perfect honeymoon destination as sitting in the bar overlooking a lit up Funchal is very romantic. Beautiful hotel with great service and baby friendly. However it's high in the hills above Funchal and for most of our stay the hotel was covered in cloud whilst the rest of Funchal was sunny. Also the drive down to Funchal is not for the nervous. We checked out after three days and moved down to a central, and sunny, hotel in the centre of Funchal.

We selected a sea/bay view room, which had a wonderful view of Funchal. The rooms are semi-detached bungalows with large balconies. The only downside is that they have wooden floors, and the noise has a tendency to travel between houses. There is an indoor pool (ideal when the weather is a little wet) and an outdoor pool and one restaurant. There is also a library with a free internet station. On arriving at the Choupana Hills Resort, we knew that we were in for a treat. Once we'd turned off the steep and narrow mountain roads into the resort and arrived at reception the welcome could not have been warmer. And that really set the tone for our whole stay at the resort. We've been lucky enough to stay in some really great places but I have to say that, without a doubt, the staff at Choupana Hills gave us the highest level of service that I have seen anywhere. Get away from the world and be pampered - that is what happens to you at Choupana Hills. Mdeira is a wonderful place in any case, but this hotel is an even better reason to go. Up in the mountains, great for walks, exceelent food, great service, wonderful spa. And near enough to Funchal for shopping and outings.

Bad thing first: If you would like to see the world, don´t go there, because you´ll find out that it´s for other hotels nearly impossible to do better. Therefor you´ll always return and not see the world. Reception staff is great in taking care for the guest. Restaurant is outstanding Food and service. I was always sad to follow the invitation of friends (who live in Funchal) to other places (even with * or well known) for the dinner I missed at choupana restaurant. The Choupana is a well managed design Hotel beautifully located in the hills of Funchal. . Professional Service . Good food . Weel organized Spa . Inside and outside pool, heated . Nice room and great Suites with an outside jacuzzi

The Choupana Hills Resort & Spa surpassed our already high expectations. It is in an incredibly lovely setting looking down from its hillside over funchal and the bay. The hotel has a wonderfully calm and tranquil ambience and is the ideal place to enjoy a break recharging the batteries or sharing special time with a loved one. We have returned from a week vacation on Madeira. There is this outstanding hotel called: Choupana Hill in Funchal! The hotel is built with taste, is very quiet and overlooking the town. In 15 minutes you can be in the hard of Funchal. The management and its employees do care about you and do it with a smile! Choupana Hills Resort and Spa is a wonderful facility located 500 m above the city of Funchal. Opened in March 2002, Choupana is unique in Maderia. The hotel consists of two main buildings (one for reception and the spa, the other for the bar and restaurant) and about 20 bungalows each housing two sleeping rooms. First the rooms.
