Quinta das Vistas Palace Gardens Hotel

My husband and I have just returned from this wonderful hotel. The accommodation was to a high standard. We had a lovely garden view from our balcony but the panoramic views on the other side of the hotel really were spectacular, if you're willing to pay a bit extra.
The interior of the hotel was very comfortable and well-designed with a pleasant mixture of modern and antique furnishings. The pool-spa complex was excellent - a massage is a must! I cannot praise the staff of this hotel enough - nothing was a bother and 'going the extra mile' was the norm. There was an excellent selection of food at breakfast. We ate there a couple of times in the evening but noticed that when busy the service was a little slow - but who cares? You're on holiday. Snacks at the pool/bar were good value, as was the minibar.
It wasn't easy to walk into central Funchal but this wasn't really a problem. The courtesy bus was fine during the day and in the evenings taxis were quick to arrive and were reasonably priced. There is a good selection of restaurants in the old part of Funchal, the marina area and the hotel zone.
I would definitely go back to Funchal and I would definitely use this hotel again.
