Notos Therme & Spa

This hotel was not as presented in the Olympic brochure. The room was very basic and ordinary and definitely not luxury, we expected much more as honeymooners. The restaurant and bars were very expensive - 2-3 times price of local tavernas, with no greek experience. So we dined out most of the time. The inclusive spa treatments were not what we expected. We stayed at Notos for a week and I must say that I have never met more curteous staff. They are so attentive, charming and polite. I would only have to ask for my morning espresso the first morning. After that it arrived at my table within seconds of myself. The room we stayed in was very basic (especially the bed) but it was no major issue as we were there to relax and do as little as possible. We did stay a the Notos for a week - and found it to be a very nice, pleasant place to be. Staff is very considerate & friendly, it is very clean and well maintained with a lot of charme. Pool is small - looks a lot larger on the pictures - but space is percious in Santorini. Do not go for the superior room upgrades - the regular rooms offer a small, cute private terrasse - which you will not find in the superior rooms. Cant believe what some of the reviews have said - you should read their visitors book. The staff were the best I have found in any hotel anywhere in the world. A very young team but when they say 'Your Welcome' they truly meant it they could not do enough for you from the chambermaid to the bar staff to the spa staff and the manager and head waiter were in a league of their own. Yes, it's true that the rooms are a disapointing. The one we got, had nothing special. White walls, no specific decoration. It was not looking like the rooms you see on their web page. Especially the bed was awfull. And the bathroom was really poor as well - no bathtub but a shower (with plastic shower curtain... :-( ). We were a bit disapointed on arrival because the airline lost our luggage and the hotel did not even have a toothbrush to give us !! We were told to buy one at the shop by the port. Can agree with some that it should not belong to SLH, indeed the bathroom is not at all luxury (no bath, very small), no CD-player in the room or music channel and the food is not of an SLH level either. However, as concerns the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, we were really impressed. Every day we were offered another massage in the spacenter of the hotel. The sauna, steambath, indoor small swimming pool is excellent if the weather is not so good. Be warned that there is not much to do in Vlychaia.

Decided to treat ourselves for the last two nights of our Greek holiday and booked a "superior" room at this hotel - what a disappointment! On arrival, after our welcome glass of champagne (a nice touch) we were taken to our room - past the rooms overlooking the harbour, and across a bleak concrete yard to what looked like a row of holiday camp chalets. This was a special holiday for the two of us our silver anniversary and the hotel made it even more so. Lovely room with a great view, extremely clean! The staff could not do enough for you although they were never in your face. The pool was the cleanest we have ever seen in 25 years of going abroad and the spa was to die for. This is an average Greek hotel - nothing special and in our opinion should not be a member of the Small Luxury Hotels group (we have been to many other SLHs). The rooms and pool are very small and the resort where the hotel is located is awful. The service and food was also not what we expected or were used to from our experience at other SLHs. Definitely not worth the money.

Greeted with a glass of champagne, a nice touch. One of the small luxury hotels of the world, very special. Beautiful rooms cleaned twice a day. Extremely attentive staff and the Spa was a definate wow! We would love to back back one day!! Elaine & Balfour (EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND)
