Canaves Oia Hotel

My husband and son recently stayed for 4 days at Canaves I. We were originally booked into Canaves II, but I had requested a 2 bedroom suite with not too many stairs. So we were put into room #1 which is the first room past the reception area. The room was very large with one bedroom and bathroom on the main floor and the other bedroom and bath upstairs in a loft. We stayed at Canaves II (the newer one), and we had a wonderful experience. We had a terrace, and we sat there and looked out into the water - it was beautiful! The service was great, and the breakfast by the pool is recommended. Make sure you stay at Canaves II and not the older Canaves I.

After a few days in Athens (better than expected) and a wirlwind 4 day island cruise (when's the vacation going to start?) we landed on Santorini. The Canaves Hotel in Oia is a white washed cave house masterpiece. Passersby actually stopped to photograph the place. The staff was incredibly service oriented. In the upper bracket of available accomodation options, Canaves manages to set itself apart from the hip hotels liable to grace the pages of Conde Nast Travel. Clearly a luxury hotel, the suites boast restored antique furniture and surrounds reflecting its old world heritage. No infinity pools or Phillipe Starck gizmos here. stay at Canaves II, low key and beautiful, this not a party area, makes for good quality time. Spectacular view and friendly staff.

We stayed at Canaves II for 5 days and it was awesome. 180 degree views from every window. Service was impeccable and our stay was made so comfortable. Great staff and if you are interested in any day trips or other excursions they have everything available to you as well as making local ferry ticket arrangements and the like. All amenities and within walking to distance to local markets, shops and restaurants, including 1800. Can't wait to get back. There will be no other place to stay when I get back to Oia next year. Holy Honeymoons Batman, THE most ridiculous place imaginable on La Isla Bonita (Santorini): friendly staff, spacious unique accomodations, tops all around. The fact that my wife and I were upgraded to a honeymoon suite helped too... Would I recommend this place? You Bet your Toga I Would!

We stayed at the Canaves II in Oia from August 13-17, 2003. The view from the hotel was breathtaking. The resort itself is very clean and service very good. The rooms had a cave-like feeling - following the motif, but were very comfortable. We were a family of 5, so the 2 bathrooms were very handy. First of all, just being in Santorini, and Oia in particular, was absolutely heavenly. Canaves only heightened the sensation. We stayed in Canaves I (the older suites) in July 2003. We had a 2 bedroom suite that slept 5 of us. It was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Our private patio was spotless and had such a wonderful view of the caldera. We stayed at Canaves Oia in Sept 2002 and our experience was excellent!Canaves's location was just fabulous- right on top of the cliff in upscale Oia. There were plenty of fabulous tabernas & quaint stores just a short walk from the hotel. Each room had its own patio with spectacular views of the water & sunsets! It was surreal how beautiful the whole island looked at night when all the lights came on!Also, a quick tip I called the hotel (instead of booking online) & got a much better deal on the room rates.
