Katikies Hotel

Influenced heavily by the many glowing reviews on this very site, my husband and I spent a glorious seven days at Katikies in July and though admittedly we're fussy blighters, we can't praise this hotel highly enough. The food, the setting and the service are all fantastic. They make every effort to ensure that the hotel looks almost as magical as the caldera, with flowers aplenty and shimmering candles glowing along the steps and poolside at night time. Beautiful hotel, very memorable. The biggest problem we had was with regards to the air conditioning. It was underpowered and the rooms were hot and uncomfortable during the day. Being that it was around 100 degrees outside, this made it fairly unbearable. Cats are abound as well, but that's more of a Santorini problem. The dinner setting is one of the most incredible I've ever seen (especially at sunset). Beautiful place all-around, but please, have an American put in some Las-Vegas style a/c! I am happy to see mostly excellent reviews of this property, but so incensed at a couple negatives I have to post my first hotel review here. I stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which was so amazing- own giant sundeck, eating area, hot tub. Pool was never too crowded, perfect service all the time. We got along great with the staff, they couldn't have been better (the highlight of our day was the giant tray of breakfast brought to your room or balcony every morning). When you think of Santorini you think of white buildings, blue roofs, and views of the sea that inspire you to quit your job and move to Greece. We just returned from a 'long weekend (3 nights, 4 days)' at Katikies. As many of the reviews detail it is a charming hotel perched on a cliff overlooking the Caldera of Santorini from the town of Ia. What really stood out for us at the hotel was the level of service from the moment we arrived (reception) to the moment we left. The sun deck and pool area provide most any beverage you want and a tasty (though limited) menu for lunch. Last June, my wife and I ended our Greek Island honeymoon at Katikies. We picked it mainly because of its incredible web site. The common areas (pool and sundeck) are as advertised, yet the superior room we stayed in (right below the restaurant) was a little too simple and noisy for 300+ euros per night. The service was incredible with a "choose what you want and how much you want" breakfast delivered to your room each morning that is included as part of your room rate. My husband and I stayed at Katikies for a week on our honeymoon in early October. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and the service is incredible. I don't think I've ever been as relaxed as I was by the end of the week there. The rooms are beautiful, the food delicious and the views are so breathtaking. Every staff member is so nice. I truly loved it there and would go back in a heartbeat. Highly highly recommende!

You will never stay at a nicer place in Greece. The staff is wonderful and the service is exquisite. The food is unbelievable. None of the European snobbery here! Very private and relaxing. Only hotel guests are allowed on the property. While it's not cheap (incidentals after a 5 night stay were about US$900 ... thanks in part to a bad Euro-US$ exchange rate), it's worth splurging. We first went to Katikies on our honeymoon in 1997. We absolutely loved the hotel and our overall stay on the island. We returned and stayed another seven days at Katikies. It was even more beautiful and breathtaking the second time around. After spending almost two weeks traveling through Greece, we were happy to arrive at Katikies in Santorini. We were greeted with champagne and as we were given a tour by the general manager of the hotel, we felt as we Mr. Rourke was showing us around Fantasy Island.
