We booked this hotel independently and when we arrived the staff were unaware that we had booked... great start! The initial room we were put in was supposedly a 'superior' room, however it was very small and had mould growing in the wardrobes and on the walls. Obviously... more

good room eventually
We went to this hotel last May and ended up having a great time. However, on arrival our 'luxury loft suite' was on the ground floor of the main building. The room was tiny. There was nowhere to put your cases once unpacked and no where actually to unpack them into. The bedside tables were two 'logs'. One of which had a phone on - so there was no room for anything else. It was claustrophic. The balcony was minute with a view of a drain and there was a horrible smell outside. The toilet and shower were all in the same room. we complained and were shown the room next door (like that is going to any different). I said that we had paid for a luxury loft suite - surely this means there are above ground level. We were then shown one of these rooms, which although marginally larger, still was claustrophic and extremely hot. The view from the small balcony was over the camping site next door. If you craned your head to the left you could possibly see a bit of sea. I was now at the end of my tether and the lady said, well, there is one last room we can show you, in quite an apologetic way. We were lead passed the swimming pool to a room overlooking the bar and restaurant. It had a separate lounge area, bedroom and bathroom. The outside terrace itself was bigger than any of the rooms we had been shown. The furniture was slightly dated, but who cares. I agree with the comments about the beach. We didnt even go there. They have crammed in the sun loungers almost on top of each other. We hired a car and found some fantastic beaches abyut a 40 minute drive away. Complete with Tavernas and free sun loungers. The breakfasts were great in the hotel and we found all the staff really helpful and friendly. However, we did go very early in the season and some of the staff we spoke to did say that they get a bit more fractious in the heat of the summer. A few problems with the plumbing, but that is to be expected. All in all, we had a great time. BUT, hire a car to explore the area and demand to change your room if you are not happy with it.
Not a good epxerience
Booked the Ekies hotel for a 3-night stay, early May 2007 after looking into their website. It proved that the photographer who took the pictures on their website did a wonderful job and some photoshop as well. The property under its current management is carrying out an extensive refurbishment for 2 years now. In fact it proved that it still is. The exterior needs extensive refurbishment (this is why you cannot see it on their website). The pool is awful and I would never swim in there. The sandy beach however is wonderful although seeing the property's personnel painting several equipmnet on the beach in front of the visitors was not the best view we could have. The interior of the property and the beach bar have indeed been refurbished. Design is very good, although the level of refurbishment is not of a very high standard. We only stayed for one night and then left. Unfortunately the property had not yet printed the menus of the restaurant (photocopies were provided), or arranged any boat trips as advertised. They seemed more interested in the refurbishment process. Maybe it was not a good period to visit the hotel, nevertheless our expectations were not met.
reflections on Ekies
Having been with Argo last year to Egypt we decided to use them to go to Greece this year and chose the Ekies Manor House. Having visited the website and chose the superior room/loft we expected a nice room with marble bathroom. Despite having a really good champagne welcome and tour of the site, we were left to find our own room. How disappointed we were to find as soon as you opened the door the sink was there, the shower was open not tiled or marble and leaked into the toilet. The sleeping/living area was so small you had to walk sideways to get around the bed. The balcony you couldn't sit on it was so small and hot due to the air conditioning unit. The service from the bar/cleaning/restaurant staff was excellent, though the reception staff was poor, we asked about the flights and problems due to the critical alert in UK and their reply was "how should we know" though they offered their services in the brochure. We went on the trip to Athos it was good to see the island, but the food was poor and no commentary was given. Also they advertised a BBQ afterwards but that didn't happen just cocktails. Not worth the 70 euros. Hiring a car is worth the money and from the hotel. We toured the peninsula it was really interesting with lots of good beaches. Ekies beach was dirty with the caravan park (next door) letting dogs wander around it. If you do go use the Paris restuarant along the beach front, excellent food and service and cheap. It is very relaxing and we did enjoy the area but if you want luxury Ekies is not for you.
after reading reveiws were worried! Shouldnt have been! Fantastic Hotel!
we went to this hotel for our honey moon. After reading some of the reviews we were slightly worried but when we arrived we were not at all dissappointed! The campsite opposite as mentioned by some one else, did not interfere with the hotel at all, Ok, so you get dogs barking but its not the end of the world! The hotel is clean, staff are friendly, beautiful pool and room. Very relaxing and laid back. Perfect for our honeymoon. the restaurant is right on the beach and very romantic, watching the sun go down although we thought that was the only drawback .The restaurant was pricey and not much choice on the menu but there are plenty of other places to eat. We loved 'PARIS' a friendly little taverna, right on the beach about 1 min walk from the hotel along the beach. The beach at the hotel is not great for swimming but there is a gorgeous beach about five mins stroll away ( fab for snorkelling!) If you hire a car ( You can hire a car for 47 euros a day at Ekies) there are some beautiful secluded beaches to be found. We had a wonderful time and came home relaxed, refreshed and full of romantic and special memories to last a lifetime!
A Little Disappointing
My partner & I have just returned from the Ekies All Senses Resort... The journey from airport to hotel takes roughly 1 hour 20 mins in a taxi, but the scenery is amazing. We decided to book direct with the hotel who arranged our transfers. When we arrived at the Ekies Resort, the one thing you notice straight away is the camp site opposite the hotel. That aside, we entered the reception and were greeted with Champagne and shown around the hotel - an excellent start so far. The decor is ultra modern and very contemporary & has some very nice touches. The almost private beach was small but sufficient & looked out across the Vourvourou bay. We had booked the Luxury Loft Suite 4 which had the balcony jacuzzi - advertised as being one of their 'best' rooms. At first glance the room seemed perfect & we couldn't wait to try out the facilities. This room definitely has the best view of the sea & gardens - not to mention the camp site! We were surprised to find the jacuzzi empty & dirty & there were no instructions on how to use it. We later found out that the motor had broken so when filled; it was simply a pool of water. Our bath was also missing its plug, so we were unable to use it for the duration of our stay. It rained a few nights & we noticed 3 leaks in the lounge, bedroom & bathroom which they did not seem worried about. The bar area was very 'chilled out' and they have a number of large comfy sofas & hammocks scattered around the resort. The hotel restaurant has a number of eating arrangements i.e. half board, a la carte or gourmet. We stuck with the standard B&B option so we could satisfy our own eating desires. The food was nice but we were surprised to be told that we could not order a tea with our meal, as it would have to come from the bar next door. Also, you cannot choose meals from the a la carte menu & gourmet menu as there are two separate chefs?!? Overall the room was disappointing and the 'finishing touches' were lacking somewhat. If we were to stay again, the Superior rooms seemed adequate and the price difference is quite considerable. If you decide to explore the area you will find a gorgeous beech on the opposite side of the Island, supermarket & a good pizza restaurant down the road. We confronted the hotel manager about our issues & were given 110 euros off the bill as a 'good will gesture'. It was also amusing to hear that the bath was only for 'decoration purposes' - thus why we had no plug. Our stay with Ekies was enjoyable, but we were unhappy with the lack of service concerning our room issues.
Going again this year
That was an experience I'll never forget! Thats why I am going again this year. Easy going hotel with friendly stuff. A chill out place for relaxation after a long cold winter. The food was heaven, and the rooms cosy and comfy. The sea is directly in front of the hotel, practically privet. The nature all around is full of life, perfect for nice walks.
Dream Vacation
I had an incredible time during my vacation at Ekies.Warm environment, beautifully decorated rooms, amazing food of very high quality in both the koutali grill and the gourmet restaurant. Most importantly friendly service. The atmosphere and the people working for Ekies make your dream vacation reality...
Excellent time
This is a hotel I never thought existing! From the first time we steeped foot on that beautifull place we felt the hospitality of our hosts. A tender touch of welcome together with a warm smile is what the service in this hotel is all about. The a la carte restaurant is a must... Amazing combinations of flavors but still keeping the good Mediterranean spirit. The rooms are comfi and cosy , amazing beds you can not leave it.We enjoyed our tour to the small islands with the hotel boat , the place there is like paradise!! The place is perfect for those who look for relaxing and easy going vacation. We are going back this June...
Wonderful hotel
I could not disagree more with the previous posters. My wife and I stayed at the Ekies All Senses Resort for our wedding anniversary last summer. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, the setting is glorious and the rooms are beautiful. I would recommend it as a perfect place for couples looking for a peaceful break in a stylish contemporary hotel. As an added bonus the hotel can arrange private dining for two on the beach - very romantic!
Wish I never went
I had the misfortune of spending a week at the Ekies August 2005. I had wished their were reviews of the hotel beforehand. The Ekies promises a holiday resort in ecological spirit, but instead I left feeling stressed and ripped off. Do not fall for the well put together pictures and brochures. First, the rooms are pretty run down. Second, their is basically no beach. It's mud and grass as soon as you enter the water, and you have to navigate throuh the power boats that are all over. A couple of times the hotel decided to roast a pig on the beach sand, so you couldn't hang out there. The food was okay, but we spent most of our time eating out because we could not stomach spending another dime on the hotel. The service is amateurish. At the bar, which is okay, we were asked several different times to move to a standing bar to make room for non-guests. That was incredilous of them. A basic cocktail costs 10 euros, which is a complete rip off. The hostess is completely aloof, and yes there were a lot of wasps and out two-year-old daughter was bitten during breakfast. Stay clear of this place. For the money, there are much better places. I would also recommend staying away from the whole halkidiki area. The rest of Greece has much better to offer.
