Amazing hotel and staff
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I visited this hilton for a week during October and were so pleased with it! We had been confused by what we read about other hotels in Barbados so decided to go with the old US standby for a safe vacation- Hilton. We were so glad. We briefly viewed other hotels and talked to visitors from these hotels while on excursions and were impressed that our hotel seemed miles ahead of other "nice hotels" on the island. The hilton had every option you may desire- great, spacious bathrooms, breathtaking views, great beaches with little "through traffic" from vendors, etc. We took out own fins and snorkels and were able to snorkel around the hotel waters to see great views of fish/reefs. The service was amazing- such curtious staff and a clean atmosphere. If you are there in the fall, you may see the endangered sea turtles hatching and be able to help them get to uninhabited beach next to the hotel. We found 9 total and loved being able to get them to a safer, darker beach a few hundred yards away. Overall, we recommend this hotel 100%. We considered going all inclusive but were glad we didn't. With excursions that you'll want to go on and exploring of Bridgetown (see the Pelican Craft Mall for local, inexpensive but BEAUTIFUL crafts), you'll definitely be eating many meals out of the hotel. Cabs can be hailed in a matter of minutes by the quick bellhops and can get you to any resaurtant (our favorite was The Cliff- pricey but once in a lifetime experience- rated one of the top 50 resturants in the WORLD). Oistens on the weekends offers local, inexpensive food that is great--locals are nice and were were never threatened or asked for money. REsaurant meals comparable in price to US prices. Cab fares from Hilton ranged from 10 US on upwards- cabbies were consistent with fares and we never felt ripped off.
Very enjoyable

We just spent 8 days at the Hilton and enjoyed it very much. The support staff were much more outgoing then management that I assume are still learning how to run a first class Hotel. It met all of our expectations and we enjoyed our holiday . The executive level is ok but but after day 5 is a bit repative.
Disliked the Hilton

While this is a new hotel and the rooms are furnished nicely, I found the food was awful at all the restaurants. The service in general was dull and lackluster (as was the Lobby). Also, the water is very rough and it was very, very windy at all times. There are large rocks in the water so you cannot walk into it which makes the beach just for sitting and sunning. There are no water sports in front nor is there any service for drinks on the beach. I was very disappointed.
Great Stay

Stayed for 5 days on the exec. floor #6. Great lounge. Great rooms. Everything is new. The front desk staff are especially pleasant and the beach/pool area is first rate. Yes the service at the pool bar is a bit slow, but they try their best. The restaurant is a bit expensive, but the buffet can be ordered in different parts (just salad) and is very reasonable. You can walk to a couple of less expensive restaurants if you are inclined. Good location between bridgetown and the Gap. Would definitely recommend for all. Very satisfied customer.

Hilton-nice hotel

Stayed at the Hilton from 1/11/06-1/14/06. We had the an executive room on the 6th floor. The prior reviews had me a little worried about what we would get. The hotel is out by itself but close to town and the Gap. Very new hotel, big and everything modern. Our deal is we like to stay by the pool and beach most of the day. Both were nice. Executive breakfast basically a continental breakfat-more than adequate. At 6-8 pm they had beer, wine drinks and munchies. I nice touch. Not much help in the executive room other than dinner reservations. Do not worry about the hotel it is large but it is very nice. Drink prices/lunch were in line with most hotels. Gym was small but was adequate. All new equipment.
Pretty good!

Stayed at the Hilton Barbados for 4 days in December to attend a wedding being held at the hotel. If you are traveling with Children this hotel is ideal for activities. My daughter (9) loved the Kids Club and the pool area. We had to convince her to do something other than have fun in the Kids Club. The ocean area to the left of the bar is very very rocky! Go to the bay area to the right of the pool. I thought the prices for the buffet were a bit steep but the food was good and plentiful. Don't order from the menu it will take forever (atleast an hour) to get your food! Kudos to the Special events staff, especially Rosina, who helped us pull off a beautiful destination wedding!

This Hilton, which reopened in June on the site of an old Hilton that was imploded several years ago and rebuilt from the ground up, is big, clean and bright, with good food (the lavish breakfast buffet can't be beat), and a friendly staff clearly dedicated to quality service. The executive floors are worth the splurge, too--you get a great oceanfront room with a big balcony, and use of a lounge with free wireless Internet access, coffee, tea and soft drinks all day long, and drinks and hors d'oeuvres every evening. The pool area is pretty and well-kept, and the fitness center has everything you could ask for. We found the concierge a tremendous help in setting up island tours and catamaran cruises (snorkeling with the sea turtles--what an experience!), and recommending restaurants (one place she suggested was Champers, just a short taxi ride away, where we sat at a table overlooking the water's edge and dined on delicious salmon and lamb chops as we listened to the water lap against the shore--yum!!). Hotel manager Marilyn Soper does a fantastic job keeping operations running smoothly and maintaining a peaceful yet lively atmosphere. During our visit, at holiday time, she invited local choirs to perform each evening in the hotel lobby, contributing to the festive environment. Very impressive in every way. We can't wait to go back!
Amazing!

My husband and I spent a week here for our honeymoon, and I'm ready to go back. From the minute we got there, the service was great and the people (who work there) were friendly. Rooms are standard, but no one spends much time in them. Beautiful views from the balcony. I would highly suggest booking an Executive room. We had free breakfast every morning (saved about $40) and anything you could want was offered. We usually skipped lunch and with the Executive room we got free appetizers and drinks from 6:30-8. We did go to the boatyard one day. Nothing great, I'm not sure what all the raves are about? They charge you $10 pp just to get in, maybe if you have kids they would enjoy it. We also did a snorkling trip. We ate dinner at the Fairmont one night... over priced and I didn't think the food was good at all. The only bad experience was my husband had an allergic reaction to something he ate at the pool bar. We think it was the mango sauce or dorado fish. Not the Hilton's fault, and they were great about getting a doctor on the phone immediately. I would definately rec. this hotel to people who are looking for a relaxing vacation. Even though it isn't adult only, there weren't many kids there. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me at mdterp93@yahoo.com.
Just OK

We just returned from 8 days at the Hilton Barbados. Yes, there are definatley some growing pains being experienced by this hotel.NO you cannot smell gas from the fuel tanks! That is crazy! First. The Hotel itself is very pretty and new. We had a very large One Bedroom Suite. It was immaculate and nicely furnished. The Executive Lounge was the biggest joke. The Concierge on that level were worthless and not willing to help let alone give recommendations! Asking them to make reservations was about all they were able to handle. The Breakfast was fair and very overcrowded. DO NOT PAY extra for this service. Midday they put out one cake and evening one tray of choclolates and one bottle of usually empty Brandy. Cocktails were ok. Second, The Hotel is close to Bridgetown and the airport which makes it convienent. There are many good restauraunts in St. Lawrence Gap which are worth going to! The Pool and Beach are lovely. However, they were short Lounge chairs daily. People were quite rude and anxious. Service at the Bar was a joke. The Hotel was just not prepared for the Holiday crowd. On a good note the people are so very nice. I think that the Hilton will become a good Hotel. They have alot of kinks to work out!
My family and I spent a fabulous week in this hotel. We were there to celebrate my partners 40th birthday. We were greeted with cooling cocktails and magnificent views from the open ocean front reception. The rooms were brilliant very spacious with a balcony a huge... more
