Ibis Evora Hotel

The Hotel was nearing a refurbishment when we stayed for a week, completion is due late February and will provide very comfortable smart large lounge, bar and restaurant facilities including an internet/entertainment area. The staff proudly showed us the work in progress! Rooms are average typical Ibis, basic but with large comfortable beds. I recommend a room facing the back to avoid some traffic noise. This was our first stay with the Ibis chain and we were quite pleased. We opted for the online early nonrefundable rate of 35 Euros per night, which made us wonder if this was too good to be true. We have just returned from our first trip to Portugal. Our stay in Evora far exceeded expectations. The Ibis hotel was in a great location, rooms clean and comfortable, and the 5,50 euro breakfasts were marvelous. Along with the usual breakfast foods, you could make your own fresh orange juice and espresso, chose from half a dozen types of bread, and end your meal with one of Portugal's famous custard tarts. Minimal amenities, minimal comfort. However, not bad for a short stay. Good location, right next to the entrance to the old city center.Dinner at Fialho will nicely complement a walk down the streets of Evora.

Exactly what you may expect for an Ibis hotel in Europe. Just the essencials. This hotel in Evora has a good location, just a few meters from one of the entries for the walled city. Better, only if you pick a hotel inside the walls. Everthing was ok in our stay. Nothing to complain. We had the breakfest and the price was fair. I give it a four because it answered our expectations - which weren't very high to begin with, since it's a two star hotel.

Like all Ibis Hotels we stayed at on our journey to Spain & Portugal, the Ibis chain of hotels provided good, clean accomodations with helpful staff. We got a King bed, shower, TV with CNN or BBC (with video audio jacks in the front). Rooms are smaller than a North American standard, but normal for Europe. Staff were excellent, and like all Ibis employees, they all seem to speak excellent English. Don't expect the Ritz, but a good Motel 6 type level of furnishings.
