stayed for a week , room was basic water ran in tub all the time. most of our problem was with the venders and the vip ripoff people PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE THEY CAN TALK YOU INTO PACKAGES THAT ARE A RIPOFF. these people make it sound so good until you get home... more

I was very disappointed in this resort. Punta Cana is much nicer overall (beaches, hotels, etc) as we were told by the bus driver and travel rep while we were there. There was rust in the bathtub, the bathroom door didn't fit, there was plaster coming off the walls of the room, the room finally gets cleaned at 4PM, they don't have enough towels for the rooms (so they take them from the rooms at 9AM, wash them, then give them back, leaving you without towels all day), they don't have enough silverware or glassware in the dining room, the meat is gross, (I've never seen hotdogs for breakfast before-that was a first) the list goes on. Definitely not a 4 star resort that Apple Vacations claims it is. I won't be returning.

Just got back on saturday...i can not say enought GREAT GREAT things about this hotel...the fun staff are awesome!!...loved loved loved...jose, scooby,coca cola & the rest of the fun club...they go out of there way to make u have a great time......if u eat seafood ur all set...but if ur a meat eatter its so so ..there cows are so skinny i think it has something to do w the quality of meat down there...but i wouldnt let that stop u from visiting.....i would def go to ocean world as well as spend a day at sousa beach...a great rest to try one nite is la pondersosa...they specialize in grilled lobster.....i would highly recommed this hotel & plan on visiting to see all our buddies!!

this was brilliant!The entertainment were great especially Jenny,Mosquito and Scooby from the animation team (hi if your reading this,its shee!)There are plenty of thing to do and many activities they try and get you well involved but if you want to relax thats fine there is a quiet pool where you can!!!! there are shows of a night for you to watch which are really good i completely recomend the chicargo show! Everyone was really friendly and smiley faces! I loved it so much im moving over there!!!!! Hope to see you all there trust me this is one holiday you, will NOT forget!!!!!!!!! Hey but hands off scoobys mine hehehehe!!

Everything you read about the Allegro Playa Dorado in the reviews we found to be spot on.All the negatives repoted elsewhere could be true but often the little irritations that occur are often due to lack of communication between different language speaking people and should not spoil the overall excellence of this superb resort and its very hard working staff.Congratulations Freddy, Chocolate, Scooby-do, Romeley at the front desk and all the unnamed staff who worked tirelessly to make this one of the very best vacations we have hand in the Carribean.Overall this is one immaculate well managed resort that you can relax in, or be as active as you wish.From the minute we touched down at the airport (30 min. ahead of schedule ) to being in our room was 1 hour and 5 minutes. Fantastic flight (thanks Air Transaat) the L1011 is spacious and smoooth. tTe return flight was even better, a little crowded but really smooooth.One good tip... don't save your $$$ to spend on duty free at the Peurta Plata Airport ...the prices are double what you will pay at the plaza.

The hotel staff were excellent, friendly and hospitible. It was extremely clean and the room was beautiful!! I loved the fact that there was a fun pool and a quiet pool away from all the activities.

We had a blast!! Great resort, lots to do, Rec staff are amazing--we miss you Coca cola, Scooby Doo, Ben, Chocolate, and our favourite bartenders Joel and Rafael. Would go back tomorrow. Take advantage of the day trips- Outback Safari is incredible!!! Highly Reccomended!!!!

had a fantastic holiday from start to finish! arrived on the 1st march left 15th march 2004. the hotel was superb, staff were so friendly and food was tatsy! would recommend this holiday to anyone thinking of doing an all-inclusive holiday in the caribbean!

We arrive at the resort it was beautiful, it was actually something you would see out of a brochure. When we got the weather was terrific. The hotel was clean, we were put in building 5 which is new and had a balcony poolside view ( awesome). The evening entertainment was great (Chocolate, Scooby , Mosquito, Coca Cola ) I might be forgetting some of them but those guys are amazing. The food was great. The people were nice. I will most definetly go back next year.

My husband and I along with 6 other people just returned on 3/14/04 from Dominincan. We were supposed to stay at the Allegro Playa Doroda hotel and when we checked in they had no more rooms, even though we booked this trip 3 months ago. The same thing happened to 3 other girls checking in at the same time. So they switched us to another resort inside the compound called the Jack Tar resort and was assured the hotel was just as nice.WRONG!!!! Even though we received the same all inclusive deal the rooms were small and the food was terrible. The bungalows bordered the beach and 6 bungalows were robbed in our 4 day stay. The more people we spoke with, they also were switched to other hotels. Be Careful!!!

I was at the resort with my grandparents and my brother Jan 31 until Feb 14.I went along with a whole group of Portugese people. I have been to the Dominican twice before and this definatly was the best trip. I'm 18 years and going on a vacation with my grandparents was something that I was excited about but didnt really know what to expect. But the guys at the fun club were so awsome (Jose, Scooby, Chocolate, Mosquito and Benjamin:)) They made my trip totally awsome and worth missing 2 weeks of school. It was so clean the shows at night were awsome the games during the day were so much fun and the food was also awsome. Definatly going back next year, but if I could I would be there right now!!!
