Ibis Nice Centre Hotel

I added a couple of days on the end of a business trip to stay on in Nice with my girlfiend. This was a bonus holiday for us as work picked up my flights and the previous hotels etc, so we were looking for somewhere cheap! This place was one of the cheapest in Nice and you get what you pay for. This isn't to say it was at all bad though. This hotel was OK. The main reason I'm giving it a rating of 1 star is this: when we asked for a second key since we might not be returning to the room at the same time, we were told we could leave the single room key at the front desk, so we did; when we returned that evening and asked for our room key, the front desk clerk asked us which room, we told her the number and she handed us the key. The fact that she DID NOT CHECK ID and just handed our room key to anyone who asked was enough for us to decide to move to a different hotel.... more

Stayed at Nice Ibis earlier this month. First, Nice is wonderful. Had planned to stay in Antibes and did stay there for two days. Not much happening there and deceided to relocate to Nice. Since we did not have a car and all travel was by train and a clerk at the rail station recommended Ibis we stayed there. It is in a very convenient location to the train station and is therefore great for day trips to other location such as Monaco. Took heed of other reviews, but must admit was a bit disappointed when we walked in, it looked very much like a 2*, and could have done with a facelift everywhere. No safe in the room, but apparently there was one in reception. Hotel is located next to a very busy station but no problems with the noise. Rooms small but very clean and tidy. Bathroom small as where the so called bath towels. Breakfast cost 6 euros extra and was excellent, a good choice, all very fresh and well presented. Do not eat at the hotel as the food was terrible and the service was very slow. + Price. The room was nice like always in Ibis. Very close to train station and major car rental offices. - Area is not nice not dangerous but not nice. Too far from every attraction in Nice. Only public parking at train station. You will pay 12 euros per night (with a hotel discount) BUT only from 6 pm till 9 am. Basic hotel located right next to the train station. On the noisy side, with noise from the street and also hallway noise due to the thin walls and thin carpets. Basic furnishings, clean, and clean bathroom. Slightly seedy location, but not dangerous in any way as far as I could see. As someone else mentioned, the whole of Nice is on the seedy side, but I guess that is it´s charm. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Good value.

I have been in this hotel a couple of times, in different situation. The first time I went there with my husband. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. The only minus point is the bathroom.. Good clean hotel and good value for money. Easy accesss to trains and airport bus.

We stayed here for one night last year with our then 6 month old daughter. Location was great for the station - not too far to take the luggage and handy for the bus back to airport the next morning. The room was a reasonable size and perfectly clean with great air conditioning. Nothing fancy but then we weren't expecting that - just a clean, functional room.
