Mercure Nice Californie Hotel

The hotel is well located, one block from the "Promenade des Anglais". I had a room with a view to the sea, but as they are building an extension to the hospital just across the street, I think this hotel will have no more sea view in some months... There is a lot of buses stopping right in front of the hotel, the airport is 15 minutes away with the line 23, the train station with the 23 or 12 (15 minutes) and the commercial area with the 3, 9, or 10 (15 minutes also). We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this Hotel that we got at a very good rate together with flights and transfers. Would I stay here again- I guess not. I would rate it as a 2 star plus but as I say for the price we paid it was OK. The rooms were in my opinion basic and we did change rooms a couple of times. The first room they gave us, although big, the carpet was wet through and the smell from it actually made me feel unwell. The second room was small and absolutely stank of cigarette smoke.
