We stayed here in 2008 and have booked again for August this year. We normally stay in the Athinoula which is further down the resort near the island and are going there in June but as I am taking my parents and daughter in August, this is the better location. Nice and quiet location but bang in the middle of the resort so not too far to walk to the harbour end which has the best bars (marias and memory) but also ok to walk the other way where there are some lovely restaurants. We have been to several Greek islands and enjoyed all of them but there is something magical about Kefalos which makes us return every year. I have read reviews saying it's a small quiet village - It's not. It's a very large resort in size, the walk from the island to the harbour would take a good half hour, but it's spaced out and quiet. The people here are fabulous and we have made some great Greek friends which I look forward to seeing again this year. If you haven't been before and are unsure then just book it and find out. Perfect holiday to relax, eat fabulous food (everywhere is great!!) and drink in some great cheap bars with fantastic views. A visit to the village is a must and the views from up there are amazing. A lovely place for a total chill out holiday!!

We've recently come back from a week at these apartments which we booked ourselves through Travel Republic. As there is no 'all-inclusive' it was very quiet - but a blessing if you want to keep away from the 'package' holiday.
Kefalos is a small, very quiet village, but it has very good bars and restaurants and the locals are very hospitable.
The apartments were quite basic, with basic facilities for self catering, but were very clean and well looked maintained. There aren't really any grounds to the apartments, but you have quite a big balcony. The owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. There are two swimming pools available to use at either side in neighbouring hotels.
The beach was a bit further than we thought - about 10-15 minute walk depending on your speed, but well worth the walk.
Local buses and tours offer plenty of trips.
Would thoroughly recommend this for a quiet and cheap week away.

Apartments were basic, very clean and functional. Bedding & towels changed regularly (every 2 days or so). Safe now fitted to rooms. Close to Mayflower swimming facilities and bar/restaurant where you are made welcome by the family run. Short walk to beach and seafront where there are plenty of places to eat.
First time to the island and I would recommend the apartments & location to anyone wanting a quiet/relaxing holiday.

We stayed at these apartments in Sept 2006, the apartments are very well cared for and fairly new. We wanted a quiet holiday and this was perfect. The owners are very attentive, and do all they can to ensure that your stay in Kos is memorable. The beach is less than 10 minutes away, likewise various restaurants.
What we appreciated more than anything was the peace & quiet, it made for a truly relaxing holiday. I have now been to Kefalos 6 times and would recommend these apartments, cleaning took place daily, sheets changed, twice weekly, the downside of these apartments are that they may not be suitable for disabled people, there are 15 rooms at ground floor level and 15 on the second floor, so I would stipulate if taking someone with walking difficulties to have the ground floor.
The apartments have comfortable beds, a safe, kettle, cooking facilities, fridge, 2 ring oven. There is a supermarket within 3 minutes walk a very good one too, all in all if you are looking for peace & quiet but within walking distance of the town centre these apartments are perfect.

Spent our three weeks holiday at the Afentoulis. We were looked after buy the family who speak good English but enjoy your attempts at speaking & learning the Greek language.
The Apartments are set in a large plot very quiet and not overlooked to be intrusive. They are light and airy, open plan with separate shower, WC. Crockery and cooking equipment are new and clean which meant we did enjoy some meals at night during our stay - there was also a smoke alarm which you don’t expect to find. The owners were putting in safety deposit boxes [we had to use the Mayflower facilities down the road]. The air conditioning is expensive 5euros a day but you can get fans for 20euros a week.
The apartments are near to the Mayflower so you can enjoy the swimming pool with good food. The pool is closed at 19:00 hrs so no noise during the evening.
The family are aware of standards that are required from their customers and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable. The surrounding gardens to the apartments are tended with care and nice to walk around. We would recommend them to anyone as they are a easy walk to the tavernas and the beach. Hopefully we can get back.

The apartments are very clean and well-kept, with a few oddities.
The beds are concrete bases with extremely sharp corners and very oddly placed reading lamps.
The fridge worked but bits fell off it, and the hot tap in the bathroom stuck on and flooded the bathroom with scalding hot water, so beware, especially with young children.
Also, it is at least 15 minutes walk to the beach, and the roads are very hot and unshaded in the day, and dodgy at night due to the local driving.
However, the apartments are quiet and peaceful, and the garden lovely.
Air con was an extra 5 euros a day.
