myself my husband and two children stayed at nikos2 recently, (been to kardenama before so kind of knew what to expect) but on arrival seems like your miles away. The pool is to the right, picture in brouchure is the 1-2 persons studios that are very dark, toilets like cells and can be quiet nosey with the main road just across. But the studios behind the pool, also in brouchure (blue and white at rear) are the 2-4 person apartments which are miles better than those at the front. Also George has 4 bungalowa at the back that are also nice. CANNOT FAULT THE CLEANLINESS of these apartments the maid was fantastic and i would rate her 10/10. Pool is cleanest in the resort, everyone says how good the pool was.. george is a very nice man, read reveiws that he is a flirt, that aint true he just a genuine man and his brother michael also is a nice man, just nice family business.
only ten mins from airport, so all good...
Wouldnt advise anyone who cannot walk far to this apartment, it is approx 400 metres to beach and local amenities...to us thats nothing but we did see some elderly couples getting a taxi to town, which cost 5 euro.. wouldnt advise anyone not walk at night. It is lite up but not at end of road and can be scary. there are short cuts than main road, so turn left out on road...does help... for price you get for this holidays and what you get i would say its a great purchase, what more can you ask for, we have stayed in many parts in kardenema and i can say this is one of the best...if you dont stay in the dark rooms at front, and your not a moaner about walking 400 metres.
thank you george for everything x

We have been going to Kardamena for over twenty years and stayed in various self catering apartments, yes nicos 11 are basic but what more do you want? stayed here two years on the run and going back sep 11 .
George and family are lovely and friendly and will try to sort out any problems you may have asap.
Pool area is fantastic and very spacious which is good if you have kids like us,more than enough sunbeds to go around.
Good selection of food served st the pool snack bar reasonable prices.
1o minute walk into the village along the main road which can be abite scary at night but go the back way 1st left with a torch and you shud be fine.
Plenty of watersports to choose from and lovely beaches also pleanty places to fish.
Loads of of bars and tavernas to choose from.
Can't wait for september there are 10 of us meeting up at nicos 11 what a party its gona be.

KOS 2010-unforgettable holiday!

A group of 6 girls (all 18) stayed in Nikos 2 apartments as our first holiday alone and it was amazing.Yes the apartments are basic but all we were looking for was a place to sleep and shower. When we first arrived at about 4am it looked as if we were in the middle of nowhere, however the walk into town takes about 10 minutes-there is a small supermarket about 5 min walk away if you don't want to walk all the way into town. The walk took us about 10minutes to get to the first beach, about 10/15 minutes to get to the main watersports beach and we are not fast walkers!
When we arrived, we were greeted by George, who was really friendly and helpful,(despite other reviews I had read!) we had a room of 4 and a room of 2. It was obvious the room of 2 was quite dated compared to the room of 4,so we spent most of our time in the room of 4. The maid brought fresh towels and emptied the bins everyday which we didn't expect and buying toilet rolls from George works out much cheaper than getting them at the supermarket. The shower is a bit wild and the whole bathroom gets soaked and turns into a wet-room and the door didn't have a lock however this is all part of the greek charm!
The pool was spotless and there are always plenty of sunloungers to go round-you can't eat your own food at the poolside though, but the snack bar has really good food for cheap prices (full english breakfast for about 4 euros-perfect hangover cure!!) We spent most of our days on the main beach and then would wander back-cook dinner and then go out around 9.30/10. Would highly reccomend Mario's Bar, where you get 2 drinks and 5 shots for 5 euros!
The Lush watersports bar is awesome too,do one 1 euro tequila shot with the barmen and they'll give you loads free!, we spent most of our nights in Starlight but Status is awesome too.
All in all, an amazing holiday-everyone at nikos 2 is lovely and friendly, drinks and food is relativley cheap (we spent about 250euros for the week and that was going out every night-doing water sports and a boat trip)
The nightlife is great for 18-30 holiday makers like us-would reccomend Scala a greek resturant which does an AMAZING moussaka and mars bar cheesecake! Everyone is up for a good time and are really friendly, the PR's get a bit annoying trying to get you into their restuarnts but if you say you've already eaten they tend to leave you alone! also go bananna boating-it is awesome!
Wish I was back there-like I say, the apartments are basic but have everything you need and you will fall in love with Kos! (oh and a tip-don't go on the boat trip after a huge night out drinking-we did that and spent most of the day, below deck in the toilet!) :D

Me and my partner Pauline stayed here in May 2010, and just got back.We had a great time. George the owner was very friendly and welcoming. He speaks perfect English and really made our holiday. The apartments are just out of town, but only 10 min walk to the main attractions of the shops and bars.
The rooms are small and basic, but clean. Your balcony will not look out onto the swimming pool, none of them do, but you can see it from your door. And talking of the pool,it is said he has the cleanest pool in the town.We ate a full English breakfast in the splash pool every morning and the cost was 5.5 euros, and well worth it. It saw us through till evening meal.
There are plenty of sun beds to accomodate everyone and plenty of space to spread out. So no going down at crack of dawn to put towels on.We will be going back

Me and my 3 friends stayed at nikos 2 25 july - 2nd aug 2009 on arrival we were greated by george the owner a friendly guy despite what i heard on other reviews.. We were taken off to the apartments on the front. We got put in 2 rooms which at first appear basic and small but had everything you need and after the first night they grew on us.
The maid came every day and cleaned them putting in fresh towels.. from other reviews we learnt that we had to provide out own toilet roll (first 1 is provided for)
As we arrived at night it seemed like we arrived in the middle of nowhere as it looks like a long road into town.. we did this walk afew times a day everyday and it was nothing close to what it was made out to be it took us 10 minutes if that even at night in the dark it is lit up you just have to be careful of the odd passing cars.. after reading the other reviews people mentioned torches i took one but never needed it.. and theres always other groups of people doing the walk themselves.
The pool was just right aswel as the food it came quick and was very tasty.. although on the first day we found out that george the owner does not like you bringing your own food and drink round the poolside. The beach and surrounding of the area were lovely, the bars and resteraunts were all friendly and good value. All in all this holiday was amazing i recommend these apartments to young couples and groups. All i can say is a holiday is what you make it and we made it Kos 2009!!

A group of friend and I went to Kos over the summer, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in! the rooms were basic, bed, shower, etc but its just what you need for a holiday with friends.
on the first night the road seemed pretty scary, so the next night we took a torch and it was much better. I must admit, I wasn't too sure about staying here but we had a great time!
there was a cleaner who came round quite often and it was pretty annoying having to keep asking for loo paper instead of them just replacing it like a normal holiday place, but it was still OK.
overall I really enjoyed the holiday and would certainly recommend it to friends.
Anyone worrying about this place, don't be!! Nikos apartments is top notch!!

We had a fab holiday, the apartments were very clean and tidy, and on a whole the place was lovely But its on a main road on the outskirts of the town and its very dangerous to walk in and out of town especially at night , as theres very poor lighting. That is a major issue with us as we have small children.

We spent two weeks in this place in an apartment in the first half of September.
Nikos II is located out of Kardamena, and you need to walk along a trafficked road to get to the village or to a decent beach.
You don't want to walk with kids in that road if that what you are about.
At night the street is not well illuminated too so you walk hoping in the best, which means no car will go in the wrong direction.
You can't walk too much on the side because with flip-flops you don't want to walk at night on some broken bottle or maybe step on some insect or animal you don't know.
The apartment we stayed is facing a farm, and you are forced to enjoy all night cock-crows (especially with full moons!), sheep, cows and etc.
If you are about a restful holiday with some good night sleep, forget it. It's not the place you want and we didn't want too, but you try to do not get stressed and ruined your holidays.
The apartment itself is very basic, cutlery and china at bare minimum necessary, bathroom that stinks, and etc.
Who said that is so clean? The floor is dirty and they "washed" only once at the end of our stay.
The swimming pool is fine, but you can find better ones if you walk in some other resorts. You can go to other swimming pool as they are public, as long as you pay for a drink or take some food.
The owner of the place is trying to be pleasant and just wants your money in so insisting ways that we avoided him most of the time.
The day we arrived he told me to come around for a beer (offered one) and I end up paying for it (wasn't it offered)?
When he shows you the place, he recommends you to keep doors and windows well closed whilst away. He confirmed that they had burglars entering the apartments/flats recently. Well, a good way to make you pay for the safer.
Hence most of Thomas Cook description is misleading, the beach is yes close but not nice at all and you need to walk far or rent a car. So we did and overspent to enjoy our holidays and driving somewhere else.
The place is not quiet, the village is boring and has nothing appealing.
What's more?
Look for Mastihari for a nice place to go (other side of Kos island) or some place in Kardamena if you are about having fun at night (although I found the village very boring even on the "fun at night" side).

Lets get one thing straight, I had a great holiday with my mates, this is just a review on the hotel Nikos II.
The rooms we stayed in were outside the main hotel complex and could be accessed by anyone on the entire island if they wanted. The rooms are completely basic with under-average cookers and a small fridge. Yes it's true the bathrooms are BEYOND small and you should be knighted if you can keep the water from leaving under the door! The beds are very normal, sheets are changed once a week so if you're into heigeine then unlucky mate! food is ok I guess, the pool is decent, very clean water. there's a big screen tv which is also good.
OK... where are all these lovely comments about george coming from??? he's such an ignorant weird man. some hotel rooms were broken into one night from the back door (oh yeah the back doors arent very safe! lol. forgot to mention) and the girls in that room asked to stay with us because we are extraordinarily good-looking but probably because they were scared. anyway, we alerted george about the break in, and he has the cheek to acuse us of the whole thing. but wait, it gets better... he then said that whoever got into the room didnt get in through the back door, but that they ESCAPED through the back door instead - even though the front doors where completely fine................ ok then detective george, the burglars obviously came in through the front with a key, then decided to smash their way out of the room through the back because that was their best chance of escape. you absolute ignorant fool. anyway great time enjoy the hotel guys xxxxxxxxxx
